They have a good old fashionable hotel in the freemon street. We going with our family and all days that come to the hotel and casino have a good days, very very happy. The personal and services of the hotel is very very proffesional, the hotel is more or less old, but really like it, dont need the most new hotel to pass a good night and stay secure with oir family.Recommended this hotel for this good zone of Las Vegas. Thanks you very much.
Vintage, small rooms, but I like that! Old times, glamorous vibe of the early 1900s. Staff is fabulous. Rates are great, but probably due to the low amount of amenities. So if youre doing Vegas on a budget this is a great place to stay!
Positive: The staff was friendly Negative: Dirty and raggedy.
Always friendly and clean, easy and quick access to the rooms
Negative: The pictures used to advertise this place is not the room you think you are getting
Positive: Friendly staff. Negative: Pool closed 2nd to Corona. No food.
Positive: Location, and customer service. Negative: There was nothing that I did not like about this hotel.
Great service and I slept as if I was in my coffin! Best part was the marvelous location and that you got free parking! Oh oh! And a noon checkout time! That was much needed!
Its OK. No coffee. No mini fridge. Room was way too hot and no way to cool it down without opening the windows. Im surprised nobody has fallen out. It was cheap enough but definitely not bang for the buck.
I liked it. I was there on a guys trip. If you go work a wife, girlfriend or whatever you wont want the standard room. They are small but fine for a single person staying. The casino itself was one of my favorites. Was busy but not packed. The machines paid half way decent and the staff was awesome. Checking on drinks and players cards.. definitely the best staff
Positive: Location Negative: Room was too small..bathroom was ridiculous
The entire staff was pleasant and courteous. From security to the table dealers everybody was upbeat and engaging. I even won money to top it off. You cant beat that kind of customer service!
I really enjoy going here. There is always an open seat at the bar. With open arms I can take a shot and leave satisfied... unless I need a beer accompanied with the initial drink. O well just enjoy yourself, Fremont is always fun. I have plenty of stars to give this place!!!
Funnest place to gamble downtown with the best dealers and waitresses. However, the music is nothing short of horrible house k-pop that sounds like Ultimate Dance Party 90s on constant repeat. If there is a DJ, they should be fired and forced to panhandle next to the retired stripper. Every dealer agrees and I hope they’re paid extra for having to dance to Jellyhead and Ed Sheeran. I hope you don’t do the same at Circa Derek.
Positive: Nothing Negative: everything
One star is being generous. This place is a dump. Room was extremely small. No pool or restaurant on site. Shower water was either too hot or too cold. Will never stay here again.
Hot dealers. Nice remodel. Fun atmosphere now. Not so old and smoky anymore.
The photos on the website doesnt do the room any justice. For the location an price u you expect a better quality of everything. Rooms was very outdated, like 70s style. Had a 4 day reservation, considering I didnt get to hotel until 8pm i was back at front desk by 8:20pm confirming checkout an refund. Smdh never stay here. U have been warned.
Listen, this is not for the business traveler. Cool place to crash if your on a budget and want to party. First I arrived late got checked in and got some carry out food. Outside Restaurant forgot my silverware, called front desk, they have NO silverware. How are you a resort charging resort fees and don’t have silverware? Some of the room furnishings are updated but the hotel it’s self is old. My bathroom was tiny, had no electrical outlets, had tiles from the 60s. I could not get the shower water balanced to save my life, it was either scalding hot or ice cold. Other than that the place is nice, lots of interesting history and they do good job with covid.
Stayed for a week... The water temp for showering is Luke warm at best... I kindly asked the staff to turn up the water temperature, but no one could do it or would do it.
We booked a room that gave us beautiful views from the pictures online,we booked non smoking, but when we got there, the room reaked with cigarrette, the queen bed barely fit in the room and a very small bathroom i barely fit, mind you i am 5ft 127lbs. we went downstairs to let the recptionist know so she told us ill go spray, and for $100 more i can upgrade you to an executive suite so we said ok she gave us the key and we went to check out the room, same thing diferent floor!! So we checked out and as i was booking another room in another hotel the receptionist told my husband thats what you get when you pay for something cheap! Mind you we paid $300 for 2 nights!!!
The suite was really nice. I liked the leather sectional and the staff were polite
First, thank you for hosting us while we were in Vegas. The woman that checked us in was rude & not in the mood to help. She also seemed to be sick, which its probably best if someone isnt feeling well to stay home. Please get heat/ac fixed in the rooms it makes a huge difference. Thank you again
Great casino! Not too crowded and a throwback to the old Vegas. Our taxi driver said it was the first casino in Vegas.
Love Golden Gate!! I always stay here and they always treat me very well
Ok for quick stay..room was more that quoted but...had fun while taking state finals. Sam at front desk was absolutely wonderful!@
Like the location and the historical markers in the building. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The pit bosses and craps workers were not so friendly. The girls dealing cards are nice. Good luck getting a drink while playing slots!
Spent a week in one of the suites last month. Early check-in was no problem. Staff was very friendly. Place was very clean. Resort fee is a joke since there isn’t even a restaurant on site let alone a pool or anything else. But that’s Vegas.
When checking in they ask if you want a quiet room, we said we didnt care, we wanted close to our friends room, very accommodating and put us directly across the hall. Regret not getting a quiet room now. Very noisy room, but thats our mistake. I cant believe no one else has mentioned the very poor air conditioning in the rooms. It gets miserable in the room and you cant adjust the temperature. Its way too hot, but if you ask, they will get you a box fan. The room is very small, Lord help you if your using the bathroom and someone opens the door, they will crush your legs with the door. They charge a resort fee, but shouldnt, especially with the problems with the ac. Now the casino part of the hotel is freezing cold, so maybe its a smart move on their part to make sure your room is too hot so you spend more time in the casino.
Positive: close to everything Negative: super loud 24/7
Worst experience ever. Jackhammering outside the room window starting at 11pm. Called front desk to switch rooms and was told that others are complaining but nothing they could do. Thst they dont have the construction schedules and to just deal with it. Paid extra for this upgraded room to have the window vibrate as if it was going to break all night. Horrible customer service.
Its a good atmosphere, not too big. Valet is nice and usually win when we go.
Staff was only positive. They were great, from the valet to the front desk to the housekeeping staff. Hotel was run down, no restaurants, no fitness facility, no business center................only a casino with very tiny rooms. The bathroom was even so small that you had to full close the door to sit down on the toilet. I actually left 2 days before the end of my reservation and checked into another hotel as this place sucked. They had an arrangement where you could use the facilities at The D but it was several blocks away and with all the construction downtown, it was best to walk the 2+ blocks. There was only 1 accessible outlet in the room and I had to unplug both the bedside lamp and the clock radio to plug in my cellphone and my laptop. There was no desk to work at and no fridge to keep anything cold. I had to do my business work from a lounge chair and leaning over the foot of my bed. Very disappointed and will never stay here again!
I like the staff (dealers at the table). They are very helpful when you play.
This Hotel was cozy looking BUT there were only 2 small pillows in the bed, the alarm clock kept going off for No apparent reason, the door for the bathroom was hard access to the restroom since it was to tight of an entrance with the toilet seat right behind it. There was only one access to the elevators all the way to the back of the Hotel which was annoying. The Hotel entrance was too over rated by protection of having to show IDs everytime entering??? That makes it uneasy!! We have drinks and stuff in our hands and having to put everything down to dig in my purse and my husband his wallet for an ID was NONSENSE... I will NOT be staying here at all!!!
Go by sometime and say hi to Kelsie! She is the Front Desk Assistant who was very helpful finding us activities and events going on even with Covid. She had so much additional info for our party (who visit Vegas often) and help explore new attractions and handled us being drunk very well! Thanks again Kelsie!!
Big Wins in a relaxed environment. If you see Frederick at the roulette table say hi!
Nice vintage hotel and cheap prices right in the heart of Downtown Las vegas
My fiance and I checked into a standard room and quickly decided it was way too small, the person at the front desk was so kind and helpful and quickly moved us into their upgraded suite, which we are very happy with. Very nice and clean as well as safe and cautious against covid-19. Thank you.
Room not available at 3:30pm so I decided to pay for an upgraded room so that I could get in and take a shower. I had just drover back from Zion and completed a 12 mile hike earlier that day so I was very disappointed my room was not ready. The accommodations in the upgraded room were rather unremarkable and the room was exceptionally cramped and small. Normally I stay on the strip at middle of the road establishments like Rio, Luxor, and Treasure Island, but I decided to give downtown a shot and unfortunately Golden Gate has soured my desire to stay downtown again. Moving forward I will probably go with what I know as the rooms at the establishments I stay on the strip are marginally more expensive and much more spacious and comfortable.
Very clean. Nice cocktail waitresses. Very comfortable place to gamble.
Cool place on down town las vegas
Terrible. Don’t be deceived by the photos. Very small hotel. Surrounded by Homeless . We arrived at 3pm, check in time. Room was not available. The gentleman told us that hopefully until 4:30-5pm. But not guaranteed bc it was first come first serve. The previous people extended their stay until 3:30 and it still had to be cleaned. We were confused bc we had it already booked. The female reception was very nice and apologized. We decided to cancel and stay somewhere else. We were tired, we wanted a room. The Gentleman agreed to cancel without any penalty. But he first offered us another room. We were tired from the long drive and said yes. Wellll, we opened the door of the room. Extremely small room. Blinds dirty, not sure if it was a window.the Window was high. The bed was ONLY a few inches away from the bathroom. The bathroom tiny. No where to put any of our belongings, neither in the room or in the bathroom. We went back down to ask to cancel. That was not what we booked. The gentleman refused to give us a full refund bc we had entered the room. We were literally there only for about 2 minutes. The reason he gave us for no refund was bc of the Covid. We were upset and just left!
Authentic old Las Vegas. Completely updated; and the casino is rocking out.
The hotel is beautiful and definitely very vegas style but, here is the problem, when you find a restaurant that says LOBSTER on the menu and you come over just for the menu to find out that there is no lobster is so frustrating, I definitely recommend the hotel not the restaurants.
Always a fun place to play. Even more fun when youre winning
The property was dated but clean. The area was fun. And the slots were loose. Great place to stay in Vegas. And I give them extra points because they don’t charge the ridiculous resort fees!
Positive: Location, clean. Negative: Resort Fees are deceiving and unfair.
Fun casino, servers were on point even though bar being closed! Dancers still dancing....always nice to see!
Old time Vegas at its finest. Dont stay thinking your going to be Waldorf. Rooms small but downtown within walking distance everything.
Lovely Casino to visit located right and the end of The Fremont Experience. Fun. Slots are fair. The tables are located near the bar. They have dancing table dealers. Pretty cool. Just wish the had food inside.
Great service but the room was really small and no place to eat
This place is living history with a wildside that brings you back to the modern world
A few drawbacks...the music from Fremont Street will keep you awake, unless you stay out until 4 in the morning and the high resort fees. I have a hard time accepting a place when the resort fee is more than your room charge. Other than that, the staff is friendly and helpful.
I will be back. Had fun gambling here and service was great.
By far my favorite casino in Las Vegas! I visited here to gamble only. The atmosphere is perfect with dim lighting, dark and red colors, and youll find dancers near the game tables. Inside is just the right size so that you know the space and dont get lost.An overall great experience, and I cannot wait to play here again!
Nice place but not lucky for me
Older hotel and casino. A nice Vintage touch to downtown Las Vegas!
Like taking a trip to the past. Awesome experience!
The property did have an older feel as it is a very old hotel and casino but, the rooms were very small and when I say small we had a hard time fitting two bags in there. We had an issue with our toilet while staying but, they could not move our room bc they were all booked. We also could not move to another hotel because we booked through here beware on that. They did remove a resort fee but given the fact to use any amenities but the WiFi you have to go to their sister hotel the D I don’t think they should charge them.
Front desk guy was horrible, would not split payment, and dont accept cash even tho they are a casino also...Would not recommend them at all.
I won $500 there. But the room are over a hundred years old and some entirely original. But ok for their age I guess.
Easy access, friendly staff and uncrowded tables/machines.
Poor quality rooms and if u want the a.c. to work good lol they work off one cooler and they will bring u a box fan. They wont let have a coffee pot in ur room unless ur in a suite. The list and long of all i dont care for this place but if recomend u
Wish Du Pars was still here..but enjoyed my time here
Cheap rent and well decorated, good place for couples..
On the customer feed back form, one of the questions asks whether you have stayed there before. They have to ask? They dont track whether you are a repeat customer, but the valets track how much you tip them when you leave your car. Windows were filthy with bars on them that blocked most outside light; no housekeeping for two straight days - and I was staying in the suite. I wonder whether Stevens knew what was (or wasnt) going on inside his hotel as he stood outside crowing to reporters about the Circa across the street.
Negative: I found roaches in my room since the first minute We enter to the room and I reported to the staff everyday
The Dealer John was very rude and disrespectful. He was also cheating and when he noticed I was catching on to what he was doing he would make up any excuse to make me re roll the dice.
Check in was great staff speedy informed. Room was VERY SMALL no electrical out lets that could be used for personal use .Extension cords all over being used for lights, Tv etc. Could not turn heat off, room was not cleaned or freshen up one day of our 4 night stay, toilet would not flush without coming up to the top before going down
Love downtown and golden gate is where the party is.Always something going on.
Stayed there July 4-7. Theres a street party venue RIGHT OUTSIDE our window! The party came on every night and didnt end till 2am, sometimes even later. The front desk told us its only a party but thats BOGUS. The room furnitire looks old and beat up, nothing like the pictures. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Negative: No room temp control. Too noisy/close to Fremont Street noise, not well insulated from noise.
Had fun gaming, every employee was friendly & helpful. Great pricing on rooms & very clean. Will defindently be going back.
The room was very small. Staff were friendly. Decent option if you are on a tight budget. Don’t recommend this hotel for stays longer than a night or two.
Loved it especially a window room on Main street
Nice casino but all thhe cocktail waitress suck!...they dont even get near u wen ur playing on the machines
Love it 1st time going today 8/15/20 well kept clean and nice
Nice. A little creepy, but appreciate the history and style of the hotel.
We asked for a non smoking room. We got a smoking the window was open with no screen. The refrigerator look like it was in a hail storm. All the pictures on the website were alive the room was nothing like the pictures on Orbitz.
The hotel smelled bad. They had an old worn out chair in our room. Fremont street is literally right outside the hotel window so its very loud all night. The windows open so basically you can jump out onto Fremont street. Hated it. -10/10
Golden Gate has always been one of my favorite casinos. Even when they were old and run down a few years ago, I enjoyed the atmosphere of a dingy smoke filled casino like you would see on the movies.A few years ago, they set up some small stages in the table games area, started playing music, and added entertainment in addition to the gaming in the evenings. The place came alive and also started moving towards the current, comfortable, and clean casino it is today thanks to recent renovations. This casino is not for everyone, but worth a visit and a drink at the bar.
Has the variety of games that I . Girls dancing and dealing is a . Additionally the new covid regulations really are annoying.
Playing in here is like playing in the older, more fun Vegas! They have attractive dealers, the dealers are fun and will help you if you ask for it. They still use the older shuffle machines so you can still cut the deck. Super fun, my new favorite place to gamble!
Big clean and quiet. Nice pool with outstanding food selections. I highly recommend staying here. The staff at the front desk are excellent. If youre here on a Sunday try the all you can eat breakfast. Its amazing and it isnt a buffet! This review is mislabeled. Its supposed to be for the DOWNTOWN GRAND
Not very crowded and good games to play
That is a great casino. Lotsa fun
Loved the Casino and the historic aspects of the place! As far as the rooms, you know your in the first hotel in Vegas! Nostalgia at its finest!
So this place and the rooms are definitely older and in need of a remodel. But whatever, I can live with that. What I cant do is manage in a room with no a/c, only to be told they turn it off in colder months. Yeah its October but its still 70-80F. Alright, fine, Ill manage. Get to bed about 3am. 7am they start doing floor construction outside my room! No warning. No mention of it from the desk at check in. Alright, Im up now. Shower only to lose all hot water. Fine, Ill take a quick cold shower. Nope. Lost all water pressure. So I have to finish quickly from a dribble out of the shower head. Which is a good thing because by that point the tub had started to not drain and was filling up. With all the choices in Vegas I definitely wont be staying here again.
Small rooms but awesome location
OK, I didnt even think about noise when I booked this hotel, SO when I arrived and was given a room, I was informed that the room is facing Fremont St. I said that shouldnt be an issue. But when i had a look outside the room and saw a main stage as well as speakers right outside the window, I knew it wasnt going to work.So the hotel was accommodating by moving me to another room away from Fremont St, however it was a smoking room which was less of a concern, But still the noise was loud enough that I could not sleep well. Something on the wall or in the closet was vibrating to the band playing. At least the band was good. The rooms on Fremont St should not even be available to stay in and the noise is so loud. I mean SO LOUD.The hotel itself has great character and a very unique and vintage feel to it. You know you are in a heritage building. The beds are okay and reasonably comfy. I brought my own pillow. The bathrooms are cool.Free parking and WiFi. The resort fee is steep at $28 but other properties charge $25 for parking plus a resort fee so I guess that is a bargain.I did not try the restaurant but overall it is a clean property. If you choose to stay here, book a city view room. If you are expecting renovations, I would caution you to think new paint and a steamer carpet cleaner. The decor colours are tasteful and modern.
Didn’t stay at the hotel but the staff in the casino were terribly unfriendly. My husband and I stayed to play roulette but we cashed out after awhile because the angry girl working the table was absolutely miserable. She pretty much rolled her eyes the entire time. My husband once asked her if she could move our chip to a particular number he couldn’t reach way down the table and she just stared at him. This could be such a fun place the ambiance and music was great but the staff looked like they absolutely hated their jobs.
If anybody is trying to find good deals for hotels visit RoomBully. com booked a hotel on there and they had the best rates anywhere! My favorite place to stay and gamble on freemont street.Just a fun place at the end of the block. I recommend to everyone. Its a little quieter in your hotel room too the light show gets a little loud.
