A great place to explore and discover. There are lots of hands-on demonstrations and activities for kids to try out, each offering a fun and intuitive introduction to a scientific concept.I dont know that the features rotate or get updated often, so its not likely a place to return to frequently. But I highly recommend it to anyone who hasnt been before.A downside to many locations in this area is that lunch options can be sparse on the weekends.
What a fantastic place for families to spend a day! So much fun to have. It is similar to Childrens Museums as something to compare it too. Adults can play along with the kids and the activities really do cover all age ranges. They do have a special area for kids 4 and under ️ Price is super reasonable too which helps a lot. They do birthday parties and stuff so you can go there and enjoy your celebration!
My kid starts squealing when we pull into the parking lot. He absolutely loves this place. There are lots of things to do and see to keep a busy mind occupied and satisfied. The facility is usually pretty clean (when feild trips roll through its pretty hectic and lots of energy) and staff are always friendly and helpful. We really enjoy coming here as a family. Its fun for everybody.
The museum is great! (**Once you get in) Lots of activities in various themes... The paper airplane launcher, bubble blowing station and giant lightbrite wall were a few favorites. Very hands on. Our group had eight kids ranging in age from 1.5 years to 15 years. The kids LOVED it! The adults enjoyed it too. Cost is reasonable and family rates are available. Discovering there is a coat room was a pleasant surprise. Gift shop looked nice but we ran out of time and couldnt browse. **There are two cons though... 1) The parking lot is a mess (got caught in a jam of cars confused on direction) as well as limited. Some in our group had to park in a public lot a short walk away. 2) We could not figure out how to enter. Although there are numerous doors at what seemed to be the front of the building but all were locked... There were no arrows or signs with information. Odd. Anyway... We just kept trying doors and eventually figured it out. Once inside, we had a great experience.
From the bubbles, to the teeth, to the water room. There is something for all ages and stages. The hands on learning is amazing. Dont forget to pop into the gift shop and get some souvenirs. These Crazy Aarons thinking putty is super fun for all ages and comes in hundreds of colors, varieties, and sizes. You cant lose by supporting an outstanding company like Crazy Aarons after a fun filled day at Impressions 5.
Always have a great time here. The dinosaur exhibit was really cool to see. This museum has fun stuff to see and do and it feels great to be able to do things with my kids and know they are learning a lot at the same time! We come here nearly every month, especially during the winter time and its still exciting for both kids and parents.
Took two 5 year old boys here for a few hours. They LOVED it!!! Their votes on most fun stations: paper air plane throwing machine, playing with water, and the catapult throwing. The admission fee is not unreasonable and it was not too busy so they were able to play with everything.
My 6 year old son just had a blast with his school trip. They keep the place clean and neat for sure and making the slime was terrific. The instructor had incredible patience with the class. Props to him. Great time. Definitely planning to go again!
Lots of fun...Took my 2 year old grandson, we both had fun. So many things for kids of all ages to do and touch. We spent 1.5 hours there until he had enough fun before his nap time. We could have easily spent more time, but hes still pretty little. He loved the rice archeology dig and the water flow area.
A great place to go with or without kids. It is fun for all ages. Although we take our kids here, it seems like I have more fun than the kids. Parking is convenient and free. The gift shop keeps parents busy with the wants and needs from their children.
Very cool! Do not miss this! The adults were as entertained as the kids. I suggest a couple changes of clothes. The water and bubbles are too much fun to miss. If you have multiple age kids bring multiple adults. Different activities for different age groups in different areas.
Really cool hands on science plave for kids. My 2 & 4 year old sons had a blast! Had a lot of different things to do. Bigger/better than I expected when we first got there. Wish they had a Cafe that sells food/drink. Very fun, will be back.
My family and I love this place. Ive been going here since I was a kid and have been fortunate to be able to pass the experience onto my children. We hope you enjoy it too. Have fun!
We took our 6 year old niece here. It was well maintained and had so many cool things to do and learn. Definitely dont miss the water room and the light room but very seriously this is a really awesome place with lots to do. We plan to get a membership next time we go so we can tak the nieces again and again. Highly recommend!!
A great place to take young kids! They even have an area for toddlers that is perfect. We let our little one run wild and wasnt worried about her breaking anything or getting hurt. We were so impressed we bought the annual pass!
Very nice place both for learning and fun! Great place for families that want to spend time together. I like that most of the activities are not just limited for kids, adults/ parents can do the same thing as the kids. Our scout group had an overnight stay at the museum and we all had the best time having the whole museum to ourselves!
The front desk is friendly, the exhibits are kept pretty clean even when it gets busy, and they are always coming up with new exhibits to feature. The new room Smash! A Nuclear Adventure is wonderfully fun for adults and kids alike. I love that they provide headphones to protect the ears from the loud parts of the nuclear exhibit.
There is a great variety of fun and informative exhibits for children of all ages (even 52). My daughter and I had a wonderful time there. She is 5 now and I would like to go back again as she gets older as there are a lot of new things for her to learn. We spent over 4 hours and were never board. The do have snacks available and today had food trucks outside for lunch.
We love Impression 5. They do a great job with the exhibits and the kids always have a nice time. The yearly family membership is a great value. The first impressions room is great for the littlest ones. All the staff is nice and the small classes they offer most days are a great addition for older kids. My son loved the slime making class for only $2 per child and I loved that the instructor was actually teaching science along with the instructions to make the slime. There are nice discounts for members at participating science centers in Michigan as well as in the day camps and programs offered at Impression 5. Id highly recommend a membership here for anyone with young children but particularly for someone with at least one child between 1 and 4 years old and not in daycare. Its a wonderful place to spend the morning or afternoon with a child not old enough for all day school.
Wow maxing his place has surely grown! learning experiences for my grandchildren. They love the water room
Such a imaginative place!...tons of hands on exhibits from how electricity works, and magnets, to the dinosaur and the water experiences! My 4 year old had a blast, (and i did too..especially making paper airplanes and testing my fastball pitch!!!) Spend a day exploring and learning, you wont be dissapointed!!
Such a lovely place to learn about science while playing and trying things out yourself! Our kids (3 & 6) love it, we could be there every single weekend if it was just up to them! We also enjoy the regularly changing exhibitions on the 1st floor, always something new to learn!
I went with my 3.5 year old son on a daycare field trip. He had a blast! The was plenty for him to do, so much that he didnt get to everything on this visit. Admission is reasonable for kids and free for adults! They had a great toy store inside as well! I highly recommend this place!
We had a very fun time here! Spent an afternoon with our kids exploring and playing! Lots to do and see. Our little ones liked the play area just for tots!
Wonderful time, I didnt expect to stay as long as we did. The kids enjoyed ALL of the activities such as the bubble area where you try to put yourself in a bubble. The shopping area where you get to shop for healthy foods. They have a light section where you can learn how lights travel and work. Shooting paper and bottles to see how things travel and how far. But by far their favorite was the water room. It was busy but they had a blast. They have benches periodically to rest. But remember if your kids like water to bring a towel and change of clothes.
Always have an amazing and wonderful time. My son (3 Years) had such a blast at Impression 5. Will definitely be coming back.
Attended a family birthday party here and had a blast even as an adult. So many cool things for kids to do and see. Very interactive and there is something for everyone of all ages (even the adults).
Perfect way to spend a summer afternoon with younger kids. Toddler to middle school can find something to touch and learn.
Fun things to do for all ages! My 22 month old nephew loved the new water science area! They also have a nice little play/discovery area for toddlers with a splash table. Looks likes theyve revamped things over the past year.
Wonderful experience for children. Limited parking, but otherwise perfect.
Impression 5 Science Center on Museum Drive in Lansing is a fun, hands-on based exhibition for young minds with a number of activities that help explain and account for the world around us. If you are stuck for something to do with kids after school, or need to fill in an hour or two, easy parking and accessibility make this a great pit stop, and one the kids might even thank you for.
Oh wappaloppa dooWango. Ta tsif a ekahs can uoy neht ffuts erom .....evif ta esolc yeht .... ereht saw I yad eht no eerf saw ti %
The last time I went was a few years ago and I took the summer school class I was teaching on a field trip. Impression 5 is an interactive science museum and caters to the young and old, with all kinds of exhibits like How does it feel to be blind, or the giant bubble room where you can blow big bubbles. Its a great way to kill off a couple of hours on a Saturday or to amaze your nieces and nephews with something cool and educational at the same time. Even my jaded high school students got a kick out of Impression 5.
My son loves this place. We spend about 4 hours here when we go. He learns a lot and has tons of fun!
So many things for the kids to do, my 7 year old and 11 year old both loved it and there was plenty to keep them busy for a couple hours.
Wide variety of exhibits and activities to engage all ages could occupy the entire family all day. Staff is virtually always available and helpful. Parking can be difficult because of limited space in lots.
Had a great time with my grandchildren. Havent been there since I was a kid! Just as amazing as I remembered.
Awesome spot for kids of all ages, and parents too. A little pricey if you have more than one but theres a lot to do, and a space for nursing and lunch. Would definitely recommend!
This is a very good place to bring the kids to have a great hands on experience in science and have fun doing it. They have 2 floors of exhibits and hands on fun! I brought my kids here, and now Im bringing my grand kids! To tell the truth, I kinda have fun in most of the exhibits myself. A fun yet learning experience that doesnt break the bank! I encourage you to give the place a try.
Fun time for my 6 and 2 year old! From the water fun to the laser light writing, they were captivated. And with my membership to a children’s museum halfway across the country, we were given 50% off our admission. With a downtown Riverwalk
If you are visiting the Lansing area with children, put i5 on your list of MUST see places to experience. If you live in the area, grab a membership, your child will never get bored of visiting. It is a wonderfully creative place full of both fun and educational hands on experiences. Its a place to make memories with the your family.
Affordable place to take your kids to learn about science. Hands on activities like bubbles, a light room, and giant teeth for a dental display! Also-- discounted prices if you are a SNAP participant!
Plenty to do! We had fun repurposing broken toys too!
Great educational no place for kids. We could have easily spent the whole day there
Lots of fun stuff for kids and adults to do. They have water place in there. There is 2 floors even an elevator for disabled.
We bought a membership and I couldnt be any more happy with a hands on learning place its fun for the whole family.
We had lots of fun at Impression 5 for my sons field trip. They really enjoyed everything. Making slime, playing in the bubble area, throwing a fast ball, launching paper airplanes and a 2-liter rocket. So much to do here!
Was way better than I expected. My 15 month old could have played all day if I let him. We will be returning!
Awesome place! Something for everyone here from babies to adults! Definitely a must see.
Many activities for the little ones equals a great experience for a great price. I recommend getting the membership bc a quick trip in-between errands is a perfect way to keep the kids pacified.
We love it here! We have a membership and go often. Good place to entertain the kids for a bit.
This place has changed considerably since I was a floor guide 40 years ago. The exhibits are much more kid friendly in a well lit and brightly colored museum. If you have young ones this is a great place to take them and spend an afternoon.
Super friendly! Large with a ton to do with our kids ! Very cool!
Its a great place for kids to play and learn and if you dont think you can afford to go they have programs that help with that
Very enjoyable experience. Lots of hands on learning and lessons. The staff is very friendly and answered questions well. Very educational for all ages.
Best afternoon for my lil man! We were there when it opened and were there until it closed. I had to beg my son to leave long enough to get lunch.
Good place to take the kids to have fun and learn
Even more fun than I remember from 30 years ago when I was a kid! Our 2 and 4 year old loved it. Plenty of things for the little kids to do.
Really nice open areas. Great science installations. Love the paper airplane launcher!
We visit Impression 5 Science Center regularly with our young children. While I probably wouldnt consider it on par with some of the larger science museums we have been to (think COSI), it is a great Lansing-area destination nonetheless. They recently remodeled their First Impressions room for the youngest scientists, and it is really wonderful. Our children have really benefited from the experience, and the staff in the room is always so friendly and happy to help your children explore. They also have wonderful programs for children, and the museum itself is very budget friendly!
My fiance got into stuff almost as much as my little man haha
Weve been here too many times to count, so clearly we love it. Theres something for all ages, I even find new things to check out. The water area and the light room are favorites for my kids these days, now that theyre outgrown the awesome toddler room. The yearly pass is a no-brainer especially considering it gets you into other Childrens museums and science centers around the US and even world.
Wow! What a great childrens museum/science center! Many activity centers spread over spacious 2 floors and all of it hands-on.Kids (as well as sdults) can spend as little or as much time as they want at each of the stations. If you can, take time to learn something along the way.Subjects range from basics such as wind and water power to high end science elements such as nano technology, electro magnetism and nuclear physics.Special learning classes as well as private parties can be accommodated. One of the best childrens centers around.Expect to spend 4 hours of quality time, but a 2 hour flying visit is also worth while. Enjoy!
Great place for kids to learn things and have a good time doing it.
The kids had fun here for hours, and learned some things along the way.
We came from out of state to visit some family. Our grandparents brought us and our kids and they had an absolute blast! There is so much room for the kids to explore and have space to learn at the same time. The activities are things that let kids get their hands and brains moving. Its 100% the time and money!
Terrific place for afternoon adventure. The interactive activities kept our 11 year old engaged and running from area to area. Select those locations that are appropriate for the age of your little one. The gift shop was reasonably priced for a destination. The offerings were representative of the science center. A good place to take your kiddos.
We’ve had a membership for years now and I still remember coming as a kid 30 years ago. Summer camps are great for kids to come have fun and learn.
My 4 yr old niece and 13 year old daughter had a great time together.
A fun time for kids and adults. Very educational and so much to explore.
So glad Lansing has a place like this still. It is my sons favorite place, and was mine as a child. Still just as cool.
Great place for kids from 2 to 7 or 8!
This place has a great mix of activities for kids of all ages. Lots of variety in the exhibits, and you can have fun even if youve been more than once.
Excellent place for a family outing. Hands on education and examples. My grandkids love making and taking home the slime
My daughter had a blast! My only criticism is that the building was HOT. Large industrial fans were placed throughout but none were on. Aside from that there were lots of great things to do and it really made learning fun!
Great place to take the kids and let them run around.
Amazing place for kids of all sizes.
I have children ages 10 and 12 and they enjoyed it
Came into town to visit family. Wanted to take my son somewhere fun with everyone. Great environment, clean and organized. Had a great time.
Were members. My 3 y/o mad scientist can stay here 8 hours a day. We usually do 3 or 4 hours. Small enough to do an hour if you had to, but expect an hour per spot! Only cons are that Im always hot and parking can be a beast. Not too bad on either con to knock I5.We are so grateful to have a $75 membership fill rainy, snowy, poor, bored, lazy days with physical and mental gymnastics for our littles. Bonus: great sensory experiences if you need those too. Best thing to do for babies to ten i. Lansing area!
Really fun place to take the kids. There are a ton of different activities for the kids and I found myself having fun with the exhibits too! Fun for all ages.
Simply amazing space for young children. There are plenty of fun activities for the older kids too! If you have time make a visit then head downtown for some tasty food.
Nice place for children and families to go. Lots of Cool gift items for children in the Impression 5 museum gift shop.
It was an amazing learning hands on for the kids and myself we had a blast
This is our favorite place to visit when it is either too hot or freezing cold outside. They regularly change their lobby exhibit, so there always seems to be something new to explore. Clean and well maintained hands on exhibits that are excellent for kids of all ages. Can easily spend a couple of hours here.
Great place for the kid in all of us!
