We enjoyed our first time visit to this beautiful park. The boardwalk around the pond was pleasant, and we saw the tubing/sledding hill that looks like a lot of fun in winter. Theres a nice playground structure for kids. This spacious county park has something for everyone!
I love Hawk Island. Its just off the river trail, so its a wonderful destination for a bike ride. Also a nice place to kayak. Its not the biggest lake, but its peaceful out on the water and its nice to have a natural retreat in the middle of the city.
Hawk Island is always a great time for mr and my pup. We love their dog park and trails. Ive seen kiddos enjoying their splash pad and beach area. Highly recommend
Absolute summer fun. Loved the experience walking the loop. Such a beautiful place.
This was an awesome park. My boys had a great time.
I like walking trails because its fun and I like to look at the trees and all the grass that is growing in the stand has live crabs in the water too like to eat those the water is kind of stinky but I like that kind of stuff.. dont know why I just do. Heres a picture of my toe after walking barefoot for too long
New to the area and wanted to get out! The young lady at the entrance was so pleasant and informative.. We had so much fun except the splash pad was closed.. we will be going back!
Beautiful park. Splash pad was closed today but the beach & playground were open so kids still had lots of fun.
I love running here. Its a great spot all together. My only issue is they only have water fountains on one side so if you are running on an extremely hot day you should take that in to consideration. Ive never had any bad encounters there. There is always people running, walking or bike riding so if you are concerned about something happening its pretty busy on a daily basis.
I usually go just for the dog park. Our gigantic dog loves the space and exercise and so do we. Its fenced in with a variety of terrain including grass, dirt, rocks, sand, and water. Tons of trees, nice shade, the dogs/owners there are always nice and responsible for their dogs. Its a great place to socialize your puppy! The park keeps the area really nice. Overall I am extremely happy with the dog park. Id give 5 stars but because of the crowd, we dont do the rest of the park very often.
Good visit, dropped a line in the lake no luck. Great place to take family. Will be taking grand kids there next time their in town.
My son Minister Brent VanNamen preached a blessed sermon for all congregants of Soulwinners Fellowship Church
Hey what a great park. Rented a kayak and paddled around on the calm water for about an hour. Not too busy but still buzzing enough to feel like a community enjoying the summer outdoors. I suggest they add a few stand up paddle boards for rent along with the kayks and duck paddle boats.
Gorgeous park. Maintained extremely well from what I saw of the park. Sad that covid made the splash pad have to be down but I didnt have my kids so thats not an issue.
Hawk Island and dog park are connected... love them both
Lovely large municipal park similar to the Metro Parks in the Detroit area.
Ive been coming here since 1997, beautiful park, good fishing.
Combination of beauty and peace. Its good if you just wanna go read a book, or bike across the trails or wanna celebrate something.
Its a great park, with playground for kids and lots ot walking trails.
Very nice park! Great trails!
If anybody found a lost item, please send it to the ranger office, which is right next to the dog park and the tubing slope. Thank you!
Great place for a walk or a bike ride.
It is beautiful. Great fall colors. I got the tail end of it. There are things to do there all year long including a winter tubing hill.
My favorite park in lansing.
My family ️ loves going to this place we picnic there a lot
If it’s a fresh snow be prepared to wait, definitely worth it though. They give you a group number and when they call your number you get 2 hours on the hill. Bring cards/games for the wait, they have picnic tables inside and it’s heated. No walking up the hill they have a motorized lift!! SO FUN!!
Excellent and great fun. When I went, they only had 2 lanes open but no one else had ANY snow! Very fun!
Lots of activities for all, clean, not too expensive. Great family place, diverse. Fun!
Although we went in Late December 2019 but the scenes were awsome, thats why its wasnt crowdy. Dying Sun reflecting golden rays on the surface of frozen lake adding extravagant beauty to the view. Ducks walking on frozen surface of Lake beautified the atmosphere. Kids had a blast in Play area. Nature was at its best. Indeed A must visit place..!!
We have visited this park a couple of times. My children really enjoy the splash park and playground equipment in the summer and the tubing hills in the winter. Weve always found the park clean and havent been bored yet!
Board walk around the river for walking n nice river for kayaking
Great place to hang out including Soldans dog park which is within Hawk Island Park
This is our favorite place to go in Lansing. First off if we get there before noon it’s free! (Not sure if this includes summer months) The Park for kids is huge! And they have a smaller part for the younger children as well. There are really nice walking paths that you can take a stroller out on and walk along the water, or connect to the other river way trails. In the summer they have a really great splash pad open for younger kids. I noticed this weekend they added some new features and replaced a few of the non functioning features I noticed last year. This is really great because with a toddler sometimes the beach can get overwhelming. They have a concession stand also open in the summer with some reasonably priced drinks and treats. It’s a very well maintained and patrolled park. $3 for residents and $5 for non residents. We go at least 2 times a week and sometimes more in the summer!
Beautiful place with lots of open area. Nice paved paths surrounded with a variety of great natural views. A perfect place for friends, family, dates, and exercise.
Very big. My kids and wife enjoyed it.
We stopped to cool off after my sons baseball game. They have a small swimming beach and a splash pad.
Love this park! Love it so much I got married there. Very nice place and great staff. Clean orderly, and a real variety of activies. Played out a weird Top Gun volleyball fantasy not but 50 yards from the scenic overlook where I said my wedding vows. Plus - snow tubing in the winter!
Its definitely a typical township park worth to try if you are nearby. Free if youre biking but some fees apply coming by car. Splash Park and wooden playground are well built and kept. You an bring your own food but concessions are available. With exception of the beach, there are plenty of shaded areas but not so many trees. You can rent a kayak or bring your own too.
Beautiful walk around the lake.!
Lovely place to go clear your head and experience nature
Best dog park ... Well, anywhere Ive been. Theres a pond/lake for swimming and the $30/yr fee keeps out irresponsible owners. Plenty of space, so if your dog doesnt like another, you dont have to leave - you can just go to another part of the park. Was flooded for a week or so in the spring. They cleared if a lot of the underbrush recently, but do keep an eye out for poison ivy. Can park in Scott Woods park and walk to the dog park if you want to save on parking (Hawk Island charges if the gatehouse is staffed).
An absolute gem in the heart of South Lansing. Make sure to visit on a beautiful fall day and trek around the trails. You wont be disappointed! In the summertime there is a really fun splash pad and you can swim in the man made lake. There are also several pavilions that make good cover with great views for you outdoor celebrations. In the winter, bring your sled and have that childhood thrill of sledding as they have a huge sledding hill towards the back.Dont forget about the awesome dog park towards the back as well. No need to leave your four legged friend at home
Lots of space and plenty of picnic tables. Grounds are well kept and theres lots to do for all ages!
Love the dog park! Great place for kids to run free
Love the splash pad, beach, trails, and playground! Perfect little park with everything we could need!
Alot of things you can do with your family.. Fish, swim, picnic and canoe.. Nice Peaceful place
One of the beautiful place to walk in summer. Quiet place and has lot of trails to walk and bike. Kids have play area. Adults can play volleyball and barbecues. Good play for picnics in summer. During winter you can find tube sliding.
Super nice setup.. Kids loved it..
I love this place. It is always nice to take a walk, bike, or skate in this area.
Had an awesome visit went on a walk in the woods went swimming went to a splash pad the online school connections academy had all sorts of activity for the kids was awesome !!!
Wonderful place in Lansing to barbeque, row a boat and chill around. There are many surprising events happening around. It’s pretty crowded on weekends.
Great public park with connections to the Lansing River trail, rent a peddle boat, frolic on the splash pad, all kinds of summer fun. Not to mention the amazing tubing hill for winter thrills!
Great place for Mountain biking ride and people watching.
Great park with a nice decked walkway around part of the lake. They have pavilions, a playground for kids, and a dog park. I came when. It was overcast but it was still scenic and beautiful. I had a great time strolling by my lonesome
Love visiting Hawk Island to go to the dog park!
Very nice park. Nice paved walkway around the lake with lots of unpaved side trails.
Great place to hit the river trail for a bike ride, walk, run, etc. Also nice to host events in the shelters
Lots for kids and adults to do. Great scenery!
One of the most serene places Ive found in Lansing.
The swim area is so dirty and discusting... But the splash pad is awesome which is y it got rated a 2 .. the park is also nice
Had a great time at Hawk Island! Had to wait in the lodge for roughly 2 hours, so be prepared for that. But when its your turn, you get 2 hours of unlimited sledding, and tubes are included. Will be going back again next year!
Clean. Great trails for walking, biking, etc. My kids live the splash pad and playground.
Just rode my bike around the trail but the picnic, playgrpund, beach and splash pad looked really nice. Id bring my family back for a fun summer beach day! The trails were awesome for biking or walking.
Nice place to walk, ride a bike, run...
Nice park. Nice playground, picnic areas, splash pad, rentals, and snowtubing in the winter. Ample parking with a small fee.
Everything was closed but u could walk and ride the bike trails.still great time
One of the most beautiful and versatile parks I have ever been to. Situated on a lake with paths all around one even leads down to a small swimming beach watched over by lifeguards. A large splash pad and huge playground are great for all ages. Obviously popular but have never found it overcrowded. Paddle boat are available to rent. My kids love the ones that look like swans.$4/day for residents $5/day non residents. Save your receipt and you can go out for lunch nearby and come back in.Definitely worth a day trip from Jackson, Ann Arbor, or Detroit suburbs.
My kids love this place! We usually go for the splash pad!
Beautiful area for a simple stroll around the lake and in the forest as well as for its summer and winter activities. There is something for everyone here, from the swimming /splash park for the little ones in the summer to the tube rides on the snow in the winter, complete with a dog park and covered picnic tables. Plenty of parking and the regular entry fee for Lansings parks, 3$ for Ingham county residents.
This park is great for everyone! Trails, swimming areas, splash pads, playground, pavilions etc.
Nice walk in the park.
Another wonderful park at Ingham county ..close to home just few miles .. we like their lake and the wild forest with bike trail . you can kayake their on summer and hike their at ny time ..on winter times we play snow tubbing .. very beautiful and vast park with places for BBQ and good playground for kids ..you pay 3$ as parking fee if you are ingham county resident .
Lots of room to walk your dog even without going in to the dog park
Fantastic park. Perfect for multiple array of activities - Tubing during winters, biking, excellent playground for kids etc. Beach is kind of meh, but overall an excellent park.
Love to bring my pups to walk the trails or go to the Soldans dog park!
Nice park and currently free. No swimming or splash zone currently.
Beautiful park my 1st time there
Nice family outing place
Very nice place
Love Hawk Island County Park. So much for families to do!
Fun, alot of wide paved trails, makes it easier to get around.
Hawk island is everything that you should expect. Its a nice place to take the family to the lake in the middle of town. The splash pad area is big enough that weve never felt crowded but can get busy with little ones running everywhere. The beach area is about 10 foot of beach and then grass going up a hill. You can swim in the roped area that goes out to about 5 foot deep. There is a wooden play area that is good sized and has something for most age levels. Last time we went it looked they had swan shaped paddle boats to take out but we werent able to do them at the time. If you have an afternoon with kids to fill this is a great place to go. They also have a concession stand but I have not eaten there.
Great new conveyor system for the tubing lift! Its a breeze, just stand and hold your tubes rope. Never broke down like the old tow system. Passes are for two hours and they have a cabin to warm up in and get snacks. Two campfires are outside to warm up at too. The tube sledding tracks were improved this year too.
A lot is closed right now, and they are still charging. The walk is beautiful though!
Its a pretty good place to go to. Not too crowded and there is something for everyone. Theres a splash pad and a little beach area. Our favorite is going on the pedal boats. Great place to hold birthday parties, but Im sure you have to reserve in advance since both times of coming here, the shelters were all occupied.
Swimming at own risk and splash pad is running
Nice place to enjoy the outdoors.
Nice sledding hill in the winter, nice swimming hole in the summer...
Great park. Nice wooded area and trail goes around a pretty lake.
Nice park, clean and beautiful. Nice family setting! The pavilions are nice sized and well maintained.
The FREE bike repair station is an awesome feature...another free bonus...Low income residents can request an application for a free annual parking pass good at all Ingham county parks.
