Its a beautiful space to walk, learn, get close to nature. Meditate. The festivals are always fun. Love Maple Syrup and Apple Butter. Our family looks forward to them.
What an extraordinary place. I don’t know how we have lived here so long and not visited. We have been enjoying hiking the trails at a Fenner the last week or so and it has been great. We also had the pleasure of seeing seven deer! The paths are all clearly marked and very well kept. Very thankful for spots like this!! Plus dogs are allowed on leash!
I was supposed to host my sisters bridal shower in the new Davis Nature Pavilion here in May. It got postponed due to the Governors stay at home orders and I was allowed to pick a new date for no extra charge. The Pavilion ended up being perfect for our event (which was held last weekend) as it was big enough for the guests to distance themselves but small enough to where we still felt together. It was nice outside so we were also able to utilize the patio area. The only *hiccup* was when a random trail walker walked into our party to use the drinking fountain and didnt seem to care that he was intruding...it was weird.Alexa and Jamie were very helpful in accommodating our group and even made last-minute changes to the table arrangements to help us feel more comfortable. I highly recommend this facility and would not hesitate to use it again in the future.
Nice trails, well marked and cleaned. They have paved and unpaved trails. I love their apple butter festival!
What a beautiful place! Lansing is fortunate to have Fenner. Staff is knowledgeable and very helpful.
I was walking my two dogs, one of whom has very high anxiety. When a beige SUV came roaring around the corner, while we were walking back to my car. I took my hand and did a slow down motion and the driver stopped. I told her to slow down as she was going to fast. She identified herself as Liz Roxberry, executive director at Fenner. She told me I should get off the road and she was very rude and condescending to me. The reason we were on the side of the road was because a man had his dog off leash in the park. And my dog was terrified. Liz Roxberry is very unprofessional and when I told her she didnt set a good example she followed me to my car. Then I left the park, was followed to the park down the street. And I then followed this car as it returned to FennerLiz Roxberry us a poor representative of Fenner Park.
Great place to walk. We took family pics there.
Nice little walk. Covid has it pretty dead right now and all the parks in the city are under maintained. But we seen a deer and that was great.
Great place to walk, relax and think. Wear bug repellant. Watch for deer!!
My family loves to hike the trails at Fenner! I appreciate that there’s paved trails that are perfect for shorter hikes with less stable walkers, as well as dirt trails if you want to get more adventurous. We also enjoy the festivals and never miss the maple syrup festival.
Always nice walking here. Usually not too busy so can social distance.
Always love my time at the nature center.
I love this Center for many reasons. Besides being a treasure in our city. Its a little slice of a Woods in the middle of the city. They also have an Apple Butter Festival. Which I love. Hey have docents there that when I bring my students on a field trip they have many activities to help each age level. The Apple Butter Festival is for family and individuals. Which is a must-do. I also love the maple syrup Festival. You must come and walk amongst the trees. Go to the observation room and look at the birds being fed with all of the different bird feeders. See the lovely bees buzzing and an actual window into the hive is quite an attraction for young and old. They also have feathers and different species to show to the visitors.
Great place for kids and dogs!
Early Morning Snow Burst during the walk. Took the longest Route to enjoy the serenity. Seen several deer watching us.
A delightful park that makes you feel like you are miles from civilization while being in the middle of the city. Lots of wildlife from turtles to deer. Paths are clearly marked and well maintained. Some are paved- good for strollers and wheelchairs.Education center is full on hands on experiences for children.
Beautiful. Very quiet.
The nature center is small but very well thought out, I was surprised how long it kept my kids (ages 3, 6 & 8) entertained. They enjoyed getting to pet a turtle. We also walked the trails just a bit and they were well groomed from what we saw.
We love Fenner Nature Center. Even when the trails are muddy you can walk their many well maintained paved trails. Trails can be enjoyed all year round. The Nature Center is worth visiting especially if you have kids. All is free, but donations are appreciated. Trail maps are available for no charge. There are wonderful signs on the trails to keep kids engaged. Wonderful way to spend the afternoon.

Nice place to walk and be one with nature. Only thing I could suggest is the building to stay open later in case of someone needing a restroom or putting porta-johns throughout the trail areas.
One of my favorite parks in the area. Small enough to explore without getting lost but very diverse habitats to see all sorts of interesting things. Plenty for the kids to see and explore. A gem in the middle of Lansing to get away from it all.
I absolutely love Fenner! This would be a gorgeous place to get married. Ive also been to a really fun birthday party here for my friends son. Theres something pretty magical about this place.
Nice quiet clean park. Wonderful trails and nature center.
I love going to this nature center in the morning. There walking paths are quiet with birds, deer and rabbits throughout. Everyon should try going to the pond on the backside of the park and look for turtles, its fun.
Well marked. Nicely groomed trails to follow.. I liked the different areas of land environments that were there to view and look for wildlife.
Great educational center and the trails are hard to believe that theyre almost in the center of Lansing.
Great place to enjoy nature
It was winter, cold and uninviting. Summer would be sure to be better. Lots of trails
Well kept! I was here for a 5K. The trails are well maintained.
Good place to film scenery for meditation videos in nature :)
Fenner is one of Lansings little gems. Trails are manageable for young children but interesting for adults. Diverse vegetation and some wildlife with a big deer population that is used to visitors. The Center has good quality exhibits and programs. Ive enjoyed this arboritum for decades.
Great Nature. The signs could be more explanatory...
Great place to take a midday walk with friends and family or just to clear your mind.
Smaller nature center but nice trails. Entire trip around the whole park will net you about 1.5miles.
Awesome place to hang out, go for a walk, take pictures, and enjoy nature! Lots of people walking their dogs and plenty of places to step off the path and sit for a bit. Really enjoyed taking a friend and my family there. Definitely worth checking out if youre looking for an escape into the woods for a few hours or a few minutes! The main building/gift shop is pretty neat as well.
Fennel Nature Center is run by devoted staff. The Maple Syrup festival each spring is one we haven’t missed in 10 years because our kids and we love it. The Apple butter festival in the fall is the same. They also host a Youth Leadership Program for kids 12 and up. It has been a great thing for our kids to learn leadership skills in the area of conservation.
Great place for a concert; it was a beautiful night with great music -- the Joe Wright Experience!
This is a really nice woods (complete with a couple ponds) in the heart of the city. Here, you’ll find lots of wildlife (I’ve seen turkeys, deer, rabbits and foxes), mature trees and well-marked trails. Be sure to check their event calendar, nature center and gift shop, too.
Capital Arbor, and its benefactor Gleaner Life Insurance Society, love to partner with Fenner Nature Center. We especially love the service they provide via weekly summer day camps. Getting kids away from television, video games and computers to view natures wonders and experience fellowship(real relationships)is a great gift which endures through their lives.
A great spot to get outside and have some fun!
One of my favorite places in the greater lansing area. Every time I come here I discover something new!
Loved the walk throughout the trails, Pretty littered but we picked up some as we could Enjoyed the day
Great outing
A great place to go for a walk and get outdoors. Some of the trees are awe inspiring. The maple syrup festival is a great family outing. We love the maple cotton candy.
I love taking my family to Fenner. They have great nature trails, a lovely facility that is very family friendly with some surprise critters living in there and even the trails have friendly activities along the way. The new monarch house was an lovely new addition.
Fenner is a little slice of nature hidden in the city of Lansing.
Excellent place to go for a nature walk.
Real nice Nature Center take your family for a walk in the woods
Another awesome inner city wildlife sanctuary. A must see, if thats what you are into
A much needed peace in the busy city
Great trails to walk and dog friendly!
This is the place to go if youre craving the outdoors and nature. The guides know their stuff and there are animals to observe both in the center and in the wild. You dont even know youre still in the city.
Cant get lost, spun around perhaps but not lost. Picturesque birding area, well groomed trails, nearly tame deer, activities for youth weekly, tranquil resting spots, and really nice people.
Good easy trails for a quick walk in the woods.
Great place to take kids for a hike
Nature Nature good morning . Trails are clean .Lots of Flora &Fauna .Bring Repellent !
Nice, free walk through the woods. A cute indoor nature experience is available for a small cost.
I love the trails, especially the prairie area. The employees and volunteers really care about this place. Everybody in the Lansing area should go here at some point.
Awesome place to walk your dogs
Love this place! Good place for nature in the city!
Fenner is a wonderful, magical place where you can have hands on experiences with nature. Great hiking trails. A must see if you are in the Lansing area.

Best place ever, love going here and doing things with the kids.
All time favorite place to go for a walk and enjoy nature
Maple Cotton Candy every year at the Maple Festival, YUMM!!! THANK YOU
Nice little fire pit for our community hotdog and marshmallow roast.
Great staff, wonderful trails and programs. This is a true treasure for the community!
What makes this awesome is not only all the programs and festivals...a portion of trail system is paved in consideration of differently abled folk and those with other types walking issues.
Lovely place for a walk, although I feel the tracks could do with a bit of maintenance but other than that the place of wonderful, plenty of chances to see everything from deer to snakes highly recommend.
Great well marked trails for hiking, including some paved for wheelchair access.
I love bringing my dog here and and running the trails! There are half a dozen trails and the large trail that encircles the entire park is great for trail running! The only reason I didnt give it five stars is because once I had a terrible experience where a mentally disabled person tried to hit my dog.
Very nice scenery! Good place to go during Summer.
I love this oasis of green in the middle of the city. I go there after a hard day of work and wind down with a long walk in nature.
We love to explore Fenner Nature Center.
