Very enjoyable and peaceful. My wife and I really liked it here. The two gardeners we came across were very friendly. My only suggestion would be to have more plaques or labels identifying the various plants and trees. There were some really unique ones. Would love to go back when the rhododendrons are in bloom.
The atmosphere gave me a feeling of serenity. I could have stayed there all day. They have plenty of benches to take a break and a restroom. It was so beautiful. A great place for solitude and time to reflect. They even give you a map of the grounds and offer guided tours if thats your preference. Its also available to rent for those special occasions. I will go back.
Gorgeous grounds with many varieties of trees and flowers. Trails with many seating areas to relax and contemplate all the surrounding beauty. Very inspiring.
Definitely not worth the $10 per person. Not much upkeep for the areas outside of the woods. Not many of the paths were cleared. Theres definitely better free places that arent here.
This place is a beautifully maintained hidden gem.No public restroom and no entry to the building because of the virus though.
Lovely. Best time is spring or Fall, but still peaceful& great exercise. Not good4 wheelchair
The summer, when the garden is in bloom, is mind-boggling, but youll be sharing the garden with hundreds of other people. In the late spring, same deal. But early spring is extremely peaceful, and you have the garden pretty much to yourself to wander, and find those little nooks and crannies filled with statues and pieces of art you wouldnt normally find if you were in a rush, or trying to fight the crowds.
Love this venue! This is one of my top 5 for the grounds are so romantic and it is the best sized venue. Lush greens are everywhere for awesome photos and I cant get enough of the floral gardens.
This is a beautiful garden with knowledgeable docents and friendly staff. They do guided tours as well as self directed adventuring, with lots of cool little things to discover like criss crossing paths that meet beneath the tree cover and little ponds with benches.
Nice walk through the garden
Nice Relaxing place to walk around on a beautiful day
Very nice place. I will try to visit again in spring.
Beautiful gardens thoughtfully designed. The volunteer army that must be doing the majority of the work here is in need of some reinforcements, but those who are there do great things! This is a must see for the garden curious.
Such a beautiful location, where the cares of the world melt away.
Friendly staff and tranquil walk
A world class garden. All the staff were extremely friendly and some were even knowledgeable in the subject of gardening *gasp*.They close somewhat early so make it a morning trip if you want time to see everything. (On the way out I stopped by the nursery to buy one of the Himalayan Blue Poppies and a Dwarf Cedar to use as a bonsai start and even though they had just closed the gentleman reopened the window to sell it to me, which not only prompted this review but also made my day) Thanks again guy.Highly recomended place to visit for anyone who is : into hordiculture, gardening, landscaping, waterscapes, rare plants, art, sculpture, or just wants a beautiful place to walk and some good background for a self-portrait.
Beautiful gardens, wonderfully peaceful trails. The trails could be wider some places to be more stroller friendly but overall we had little to no issues with our double stroller and my grandmothers walker. The Wagner house on the grounds is beautiful though not completely open to explore.
This is a hidden gem in Lakewood! Was there doing photography for an event, and I will tell you that if you need a venue, this is definitely a place you will want to consider!
Great yoga class with Yoga Wild in the old house, wonderful view of the gardens! Perfect setting.
Beautiful garden and a very helpful staff! We had a good time their and even picked up some nice plants from their garden shop!
Came here on Mothers Day. The gardens are well maintained and the main house is lovely. The staff is knowledgeable about the history and gardens. A nice place to spend the day and picnic.
It is a very beautiful and quite place. My friend had her wedding at this place. There are small little garden at the corner of it during the summer time. It is perfect place for a small wedding. Love it. :)
After years of looking forward to the annual Beautiful Tables competition, my wife has just been crushed emotionally. She has planned that special table setting almost as soon as the previous years competition was finished. The current event staff has changed the usual set up times to make it more to their liking. The former Sunday setup time has been changed to during the week Causing her to have to drop out of an event she plans for year round and is a hugeSource of joy. They truely have lost focus of the hand that feeds them.
Beautiful hidden treasure! What a great place to walk and enjoy native plantings. Many garden rooms. We enjoyed the Fairy Fest (Bliss Icecream, face painting, fairy hunt through the gardens, and fairy homes made from found in nature treasures). Looking forward to Yoga Wild.
Visited during fairy festival and loved the grounds gardens. Look forward to visiting again soon.
We visited the gardens for the first time. It was more than anticipated, it was a great time.
Excellent example of wooded estates . .
Wonderful staff and beautiful space
A beautiful secret garden. The staff is friendly and the scenery is very photogenic. I believe its $9 per person ($7 military), and free to children under 12, payable in cash or credit. It was very quiet when we went, maybe two other people there. I imagine a lot of portrait photography gets taken there.
Looks cool but Ive actually never been there
Very picefull and beautiful place
Nice garden with nice gift shop.
Beautiful gardens!
Very pretty.
Gorgeous gardens, historical mansion. Well worth the visit
Nice place to rest and bring the kids nice views and beautiful gardens in spring and summer
They close pretty early and some areas are a but bare, but the the house and the trails around it are spectacular
Amazing
First time here. Cant believe Ive been missing out on such a local treasure. Getting an annual membership to come back. Its a great deal.
Beautiful Gardens. Public access for garden tours weekly. Gorgeous place to hold weddings. Reception seating as well.
Beautiful place. I will be back to enjoy ther gardens in the summer. Not very stroller friendly. Great for photography. The gift shop helper is also very friendly....Pierce County Library offers FREE WEEK PASS. If you are a library card holder.
Beautiful gardens and tons of social events to visit and attend.
A nice day trip to a beautiful old estate, well worth the trip
It is a very beautiful and quite place.
Had my friends wedding here, it was beautiful. Friendly crew and the house accommodated us perfectly. The outside ceremony/reception with all the greenery was memorable. The large estate is perfect for walks and pictures. Loved it here.
Our day at Lakewold Gardens was simply magical. One of my companions told her son all about it, and he said it sounded like a movie.I packed up my late grandmothers 150 year old china, sterling, linens, Perrier Joet Vintage champagne with matching flutes, and had a picnic under a Wisteria vine covered patio. The staff was thrilled we made a day so special at their gorgeous property, even fellow patrons commented on our desire to smell the roses!
Omg this place is just gorgeous. if you appreciate a well balanced groomed garden, flowers and trees, not veggies, you will be utterly awed by the beauty of Lakewold Gardens. Lots of weddings and special occasion parties held here so if you are interested in renting the space you better get in line as its a popular place.who would have guessed we have such a beautiful spot right here in Lakewood?
Peaceful and quietb and beautiful in every way, but the tickets are expensive for such a small place. Probably not much fun for children unless they really like gardens.
Gorgeous gardens. Great place to meander & take pictures.
Lakewold Gardens is a Gift to us on Gravelly Lake. It is Gorgeous. I like Christmas Tables Showcase. Become a member helping the Legacy of the Wagners to live on. Take a tour through the gardens. Many volunteers spend endless hours keeping Lakewold Gardens beautiful.
I recently went with my 4 year old, we had a great time. Friendly staff, beautiful features. Lots of rare finds for this climate, clearly this is a decades long labor of love. Hope to visit again soon.
Beautiful garden with great plants and history. A perfect place to spend mothers day.
Excellent. Well kept grounds, quiet, tranquil. Perfect short getaway from the loud and busy everyday
This is such a beautiful place!! The gardens are a delightful walk year round, and the house is features a sumptuous interior, decorated by notable designers with imported materials from across the globe. Definitely a place to visit and if youre lucky, throw a killer party.
Beautiful garden and location, nice gift shop. Would have enjoyed more plant identification.
Friendly people...clean, well cared for
Very nice n relaxing. We went a little late in the season for blooms. Great place for photography of all kinds (people,statues,ghosts... and flowers). Super nice staff.
Weve been here as a family 2 years in a row for the Lakewood Kids Community event. Its really a beautiful property and the event is fun!Update: Go to Fairy Fest. So fun!!!My sweet 5 & 6 year olds dressed in their fairy/princess outfits and we trotted all around the property and found all 10 fairies! Great vendors and as always, and exceptional property. 3 years now.
Elegance and beauty abound! Truley a gem, kind and friendly staff. The 100 year old majestic Wisteria is deliciously fragrant and perfectly placed around the veranda on the west side of the mansion. Lakewold is a pleasure for the eyes and a banquet for the nose. A must see for garden enthusiasts!
Beautiful garden setting and easy to navigate through the marked walkways. Easy access parking.
Beautiful gardens and architecture. Lovely for an afternoon stroll.
They hold concerts here at times. Beautiful well landscaped with beautiful flowers and plants.
Great plants. Staff was helpful too
Very beautiful place!
Beautiful gardens and historic buildings. Especially striking in rhody season. We have been several times and still enjoy going.
We went for the fairy festival in May. Even my husband loved it. What a great way to highlight a proper English Garden. We managed to navigate my Mom in her wheelchair just so she could enjoy at least some of it. And she did.
I will admit I am bias but this garden is amazing. I work there part time, and even though I see it nearly every day I still cant get over how beautiful and serene the place is. It makes it hard to get work done as all I want to do is take a picnic out to the lawn, curl up in the tea house with a book, or sit on a bench overlooking the lake and just be with nature. An amazing place to take a break from reality and relax in the beauty our world has to offer.
This beautiful estate garden is impeccably maintained and provides a welcome respite from city life. It is internationally known and attracts visitors from around the world.
Very nice, well maintained paths. Beautiful plants. A bit expensive though for the entrance fee. We enjoyed a nice, peaceful walk.
So peaceful
Beautiful and tranquil. Great for connecting with nature.
Beautiful little trails and well maintained.
Gorgeous place. We attended a wedding here and was incredible. The gardens, the lake, such a pleasure.
Beautiful garden. Friendly staff, love the childrens garden. Worth the stop
Little gem in Steilacoom. Can you say fairy garden. My girls loved the fairy scavenger hunt. What more need I say?
Such a fun time at the Fairy Festival
Beautiful, peaceful property! Made our Mothers Day!
Its a beautiful place filled with great people. I will be back frequently!
Nice place. Its like being in a movie with the big rich house over looking the lake. And the other vendors there were very nice people.
Beautiful. Quiet and well kept
Nice and peaceful.
Nice place to visit. Dont miss the chance to go.
Love love love this place!!
Spring beauty at its garden finest.
Had a piano recital there. Beautiful!
Simply beautiful. Peaceful atmosphere, good place to take a picnic lunch.
You can see what good healthy plants look like and grow locally before making personal purchases
My daughter wanted to get me out of apartment, this where she took me. It was real nice & something I needed.
Beautiful, well maintained, and so serene. Walking around the lake was a nice way for the wife and I to get out and enjoy nature a bit while not being so far removed.
This Place is beautiful
Perfect little gem of a garden, just the right size for an afternoon or morning saunter. Small but interesting gift shop.
Was great place to hang out
Lovely place with nicely tendered gardens and lake view; amenable for special social events.
Very pretty to walk through, but not worth the price.
Wish beach access is allowed. Otherwise its a good place to visit.
Amazing! The flowers were so beautiful, and the scenery is marvelous.
