I lived in the area for years and heard people talked about it but never been to. Wow its a pleasant surprise. Its nice and quiet. Nice for hiking, fishing, picnicking. and beautiful lakes. Its like you are in a national forest. You wouldnt know it existed in the middle of a city.
New restrictions at the park make for a very relaxing time at the beach at soda lake(Monday morning). We arrived at 8- no one on the beach. Set up in the shade. It was never crowded and the lake was perfect! Only one parking area was available (the one furthest away from the beach)
I’m sure the park is beautiful, though the lake is full of poisonous algae that you have to wash off after you’re done swimming, and is poisonous to dogs so they can’t swim or drink. And the attendant that you buy your pass from this morning had no clue what kind of algae it is, so she couldn’t even inform me properly with any good safety information. The park could at least inform their workers of important information like this to relay to us. Instead I had to Google everything myself. Bear creek lake park please inform your workers of important information so they can relay it to us. I don’t appreciate it at all, and won’t be returning.
I used to love going here, my place to escape and relax. But......Im not sure why I even bother buying a season pass at this point as they do not regulate the number of people they allow to come into the lake and the only time you can find a parking spot is before 7am. Its very frustrating. They need to monitor this better
Absolutely beautiful area. Vast park with tons of paths, an archery range, horses, and bike riding. We stayed in the Campground with our 5th wheel and had a great time. Spots are VERY big, tons of room in each one, and the park is extremely clean. Sunsets and views are stunning in the evening. Highly recommend this park to anyone.
Bear Creek used to be a good park like 30 years ago when I was a kid now its totally abused over fished and run down theyre always at capacity I could ride my mountain bike there from my house igrew up right next to it now I dont even bother Dont want to be one more person ruining the place
Close by city great rental facility friendly staff. Fun lake to paddle or kayak beautiful area surroundings
Its a good park... but...Its so over crowded in the lake area it absolutely ruins even going for the lake, your non stop trying not to bump into anyone in open waters. Ill hit cherry creek state park, chatfield state park, or aurora resevoir before here again.
I’ve never had a bad experience here. Typically well maintained and the Rangers are usually very nice.
Great for biking, hiking, running and close proximity to Lakewood and Morrison. Relatively flat but you can challenge yourself on the east side. Nice views down the southern front range or a quiet walk along the creek.
Was crowded for the weekend so a weekday of course would make it more serene. A male employee who hands me the paddle boards was very kind when I told him that it was my first time paddling.
Loved it. Went paddle boarding. Awesome
Its beautiful there and pretty. Definitely recommended for day hikes.
Great place, friendly staff for kayack fun!!
We paid for yearly pass and now we can’t use it because everything is closed, you can’t even touch water!NONSENSE!!! Over crazy COVID times it was open..... NOW THEY DECIDED TO CLOSE IT.
Park was great, staff is kind. Cabin...was a shed with 2 bunk beds. Okay for the night, but some pictures would have been nice. Website is a bit hard to navigate and my receipt gave no information or even an address. A bit rough for a first time out of state visitor.
The only reason this isnt a 5- star review is because this place is CROWDED on weekends and holidays. But the water is gorgeous, the sand is soft and paddleboarding is amazing.
We came here for a family photo shoot. It was a perfect backdrop, so green and pretty. Our photos were awesome! If you are looking for a place to take pics, this is it! Very nice clean place, very very busy on weekends in the summer, nice beach, we do alot of ice fishing there to, plenty of activities. good for hiking, jogging, biking, beach (summer time). Nice trail along to creek. A little something for everyone.
So windy today there were white caps on top of the Ice.
Very clean and a lot of areas for different activities. Reasonable entry fees especially for annual pass. Recommended for mountain biking, lake activities, or just a walk. Wilderness in the middle of Lakewood!
Large park with a variety of activities. Disabled veterans can receive an annual pass for no charge. Camping is affordable and they keep the area organized and clean.
I had an excellent walk at the park. There were beautiful views along the trails.
Such a beautiful park. Plus its only 60$ for the annual fee. Absolutely worth it. Everyone is so friendly.
Horrible place to take your family just disgusting
Complete rip off. Pay $10 for goose poop trails.
Great little beach, good camping and for the science freak model rockets@
So amazing, I will be back!
Nice park
Loved this park! Not crowded, clean with paddle board rentals and picnic areas.
I always buy an annual pass each year. I love mnt biking, hiking and paddleboarding here.
Recommend getting off the beaten path and enjoying this strip mall little gem! So far their food had met my expectations, their staff is friendly and outgoing. Reasonably priced!
We stayed in our camper trailer @ Indian Paintbrush Campground. For a city camp area we thought it was great. The campground was full but that does not bother us. That is part of trailer camping.Views are great, accessible, clean...For those who complain there are no trees, well do your homework before visiting. Understand the nature and environment which includes goose. The swim beach is very popular and full every weekend so let that speak for itself. We will be back.
We went to a show at Red Rocks and camped out here to save money on a hotel. It was a good experience! The campground is beautiful and clean. It looked like theres a lot of different activities to do as well for those who stay more than one night. Overall, we were pleased with our stay.
Great cycling area
Swim beach, fishing, horseback riding, great place to spend the day doing something fun! Great price to get into the park at $10
Fairly decent archery range. Will cost each time you want to go into the park or you can buy an annual pass.
Nice park, tons to do.
Awesome park. Tons of activities from fishing to boating to swimmimg and even archery! Very happy every time I come here
Caught my very first fish! Loved it!
Stayed here at the end of the summer in 2016. Very clean with huge sites. Hookups were great and the you cant beat the price.
Just a poor experience.
Too crowded but worth spending half day. They have paddle boats, surf boards, kayak rentals etc. Kids loved it.
Nice lake with views but super crowded
Great place to paddle board, run, hike, or swim !
This park is truly an escape from the city without actually leaving the city! You can go horseback riding, fishing, swimming, there are tons of trails for cyclists and runners/walkers, theres an archery range (no rentals though ) and you can even go camping and boating. There are playgrounds for kids, volleyball nets, bbq grills (charcoal), picnic tables, etc. And best of all, you cant hear the busy sounds of metro Denver at all!
Anytime I can catch nice fish and enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature, that makes it a good place in my book. I Do Not like the fact that its closing time is only 4:00 p.m. Dont know who the GENIUS is that came up with that!
As a local I adore this place. Close to Red Rocks, view of the mountains and the cirty all at once. A great place for a short walk or an epic bike ride. Trails are all in good shape and this place is loved and kept clean.
I have lived in Lakewood for 16 years and have never been there. And I will never go back (1.) Goose poop everywhere!! (2.) there is sand but very little, so it makes it very hard to walk on without hurting the bottoms of your feet. Highly recommend shoes at all times.(3.) Water smelt bad!!! I was very, very disappointed!!I recommend Chatfield Reservoir, No poop and theyve lots of beach sand.
Lovely park. Close access to Redrocks.
Family went swimming at the lake, great fun family atmosphere, will be coming back. A Denver hidden secret, so much to do here.
Best place for the family
Great archery range!
Great trail system. Good place for dogs. Good fishing.
Nice place, great views and plenty of room for your dogs to run around!!!
We love this place. Camping, swimming, archery, and hiking. Can make a fun little escape with out leaving town
Beautiful. Did a race during a snowstorm, but still so nice!
We came for one night on our way through, when we finally got out to the actual campground we were disappointed in the spots. The grass around was super tall which obviously in summer months is a fire hazard. And there are NO trees. Or if there were they were babies! I get that its not an RV park and at $25 a night I shouldnt complain BUT it was just so desolate and ugly. :(
Soda Lakes is fun for the family. They have a small beach that the children like. Note: I didnt see any lifeguards. They have boat rentals. We rented kayaks and they were a lot of fun.Overall, its a good place. I would recommend the Boulder Reservoir over Bear Creek Lake though. Why? Boulder is bigger. They have lifeguards at their beach. The kayak and canoe rentals are about half the price at Boulder.
Nice facilities for casual parties--picnic pavilions, barbecue grills, lots of parking.
Ive had a lot of good fun here over the years. Although its got really busy over the years too, so I dont go anymore.
Nice beach and chill environment. Our two year old had a great time.
Good small lake with rentable cabins. Visitor center open 8-4 year round.
Great for a short-medium length hike. The views are stunning.
A gorgeous place, great trails and other amenities. A bit pricy though
4 star for convenience...its just off 470 west.
Great park to have fun and play. Go check it out.
EXCELLENT PLACE
Amazing body of water right by red rocks!
They want $25 a night, which seems a little much. They also want $10 just to get in and look around! No thanks!
Always a pleasure and the rangers where very nice
So pretty
Great place to enjoy a large lake.
Clean, safe and clear.
What a blast
Huge lake for boats
Great time
The staff was very unfriendly and it is too expensive
A fabulous place
Pretty
Clean, quiet, serene
If I could give a -5 rating I would. I stayed in cabin 3 and woke up to bedbugs. AVOID!!!!
It would be alright if the bathrooms were not under 30 of water earlier in the year .
Nice place
