Would have enjoyed it more had social distancing by staff had been happening. Very unsettling that the cash register and gift shop was very crowded for such a small venue to start with and a staff person gave an unsolicited guided tour and stood and followed us very closely. My elderly companion with dementia was unable to maintain proper distance. That should have been the employees responsibility. I would have thought the staff was better trained on this issue. At least masks were worn by all.
That s place is awesome!! The museum is in a house that was built in 1890 according to the nice lady at the front desk. The miniatures and dollhouses are amazing and the details are incredible! The kids had a ton of fun, they also have a craft room and an old school Nintendo for the kids to play with... that was so cool.
I love this place. The staff was kind and friendly. I loved the toys and miniatures!
As a long-time collector of miniature porcelain dolls, I knew before I even walked in that I would love this place. A must see for any fan of miniatures. Enjoy!
Great place for adults and kids to visit. The miniatures are really cool, and the exhibits give interesting sociological considerations and context.
If you like doll houses, you must see this place. It has many, many fully decorated doll houses from the small to very large. The detail is amazing and some are quite old (one from Germany built 200+ years ago). It wont take long to go through the entire place. They have doll houses for the kids to play with too.
I was a little freaked out by all the tiny eyeballs staring at me, but this place was pretty cool. My traveling buddy absolutely loved it. A whole room of Polly Pockets!
I love miniatures. Small historic home museum. Wish it was bigger!
This a cute little museum for dollhouses and miniatures. I would like to go again next time Im in the area.
Cant wait to get open. Our new home will be fantastic.
DMMDT is planning a grand opening this spring of phase one in their new location.
This is one of the coolest places I never knew I wanted to visit. We were just burning time in Denver before heading to the airport when we found this place online. Its an old two story house in a residential area, but I had a blast! If you like little things like legos (especially Star Wars themed), tiny houses with tiny furniture in them, miniature baskets, crates, tea sets... All kinds of stuff like that, then youre going to have a blast here (minus the parking, which is kind of a pain). The lady running the place was super friendly and the museum wasnt crowded at all.My girlfriend bought a tiny picnic basket with a blanket and a wine bottle with glasses and other nick knacks. I bought a larger (about 8 inches tall) droid - the Roger Roger kind - from the Star Wars prequels made entirely of bolts and nuts and other metal scrap all welded together - Ive never seen anything quite like it.If youre in Denver and either:1. Like Star Wars2. Like Legos3. Like tiny thingsStop by this place - its cheap, fun, and fairly close to the airport.
Absolutely adorable miniatures and doll houses with fantastic details and lots of displays. I really enjoy this place and if you need something inexpensive and fun to do go here. Its amazing to see the craftsmanship put into these detailed tiny worlds. Absolutely love it and I notice something new in each display every time I go again.
Walked in one day I was bored. Intriguing
Fascinating Museum! I loved it. I was dragged here by my wife expecting to be bored but found it very interesting and wanted to stay longer than she did. My favorites were the history exhibits and nostalgic toys.
Neat place, loved the old toys.
It has an entire room dedicated to Polly Pocket. It can be done in half an hour or an entire afternoon. Also there is a giant articulated teddy bear hiding in the corner pretty terrifying five stars.
This was one of my favorite places to visit when we traveled to Denver for the weekend. It is a small museum in a historical home, but there are so many details to marvel at that the size is just right. Youll feel nostalgic seeing your old toys on display or inspired to create a miniature room of your own.
Great local museum with tiny toys and dolls.
This is one of my favorite museums in the City of Denver. Keep up the great work! Can’t wait to come back here once again soon!
Okay, so if we are talking about how good of shape the cottage is in, I give it a 2, those 2 for effort to keep it up. But luckily, they are finding a new venue to house their beautiful collection. Currently, under half of their collection is on display, & it wonderfully showcases how culture has changed over time through doll houses, toy trains, dolls, & so much more. When I first came up to it, I thought it would be horrible & creepy. Go inside & see how hard they are trying to preserve history through toys, & you wont want to stop looking around. Their collection includes several doll houses of Native American housing, one of the only 58 in the World Miss. Yokohama dolls (a wonderful display of Japanese culture & shows a bit of history of U.S.-Japan relations.), & a WWI area doll house are among my favorite. This museum is worth a stop!
Charming & inspiring to a crazy-serious dollhouse builder. Can’t wait to see the new building which should intrigue me for years.
It’s cool if you’re in to this kind of thing. Personally I thought it was very strange.
Great selection of amazing dolls and miniatures from around the country and the world; exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable staff. Theyre currently inn a small house inn Denver but are looking for a new place by the end of the summer. Its amazing--go support them!! Its free, but they take donations and habe a great gift shop. Theres 2 floors with an incredible array of beautiful, unique, funny, and amazing objects.
This museum is a interesting place to see, I went for their Star Wars exhibit. It was a large exhibit that featured all types of Star Wars toys both new and from the original movies that first were shown in the 70s. This museum is in an old house and there was no air condition, so it was hot and stuffy. Plus many of the other exhibits were in the hallways of the house which made walking past other people a tight fit. If you like miniatures, dolls, and other toys, then this place is definitely worth a look.
I love this place! Any girl that played with dolls growing up, or any boy who played with star wars or gi joes will have a good time here. This is also a great place for a group of gals to go and have a nostalgia flashback! Make sure you reserve a spot in the tea room and experience a delicious high tea with Roxanne. The menu is preset, from scratch and worth the $25pp.
Interesting stuff, especially the miniature houses and its details.... Star wars, Harry Potter, Colorado historic houses and other history, circus, cool model trains including a model that runs, and much much more..
Five stars arent enough for the excellently curated museum. The collection spans several hundred years of playthings and is beautifully displayed. They expect to move in the coming months so check before visiting.
As new miniature enthusiasts my daughter and I really enjoyed seeing the museum for the first time. Small but wonderful. The miniatures and houses, especially the Someday House took us some time to look at and enjoy all the tiny details. Its also a great reflection of dolls and toys through time. The Star Wars exhibit was also fun. We thought the house and its history (Pearce McAllister Cottage) is truly the perfect backdrop for such a museum and we loved looking at the Cottage structure itself as much as everything else! Oh the history there. History Colorado should be utterly ashamed of themselves for the lack of care it has given to this 120 year old beauty for the last 25 years. Why have they not committed more effort to preserving this historical home for our children and their children instead of allowing it to fall to such disrepair for an extended period of time? Just shameful.
I love this place! You always find something you missed the last visit.
The lady wasnt to friendly or happy. You are in customer service perk up. Went and it happened to be a free day. $1 cash donations are ok but if you walk in without the cash donation dont expect her to be friendly to you. I had cash in my coat but was expecting to pay with a card. Had to have my son run out to grab the cash.
I have been a member for 20 years. Its a great place to take one self or the family. The museum is looking for a new home. The colo. Hist people want the house bsck. It would be a shame to lose. Great dolls, toys, and mimis. Save this great museum!!!
Really neat collection, its like time travel. Fun!
Really good deal for a really entertaining place. Its curated in a weird way but definitely worth a visit
I brought my two kiddos (girls, ages 4 & 7) and met a friend who brought her two kiddos (boys, ages 3 & 6). I thought the curator was especially kind and considerate--opening the door to us in the rain, and then hanging up my kids rain coats on the coat rack. The collections are so incredible and unique. I was a bit nervous when we first walked in, as there are many signs that say Please do not touch, but rest assured that exhibits that are off-limits are interspersed with quite a few hands-on collections. Ask for the Scavenger Hunt pages--this made our visit so much more fun! And we had an engaging, enjoyable time for an hour, but any more would have been a bit of a stretch given the ages of our group.
Historic home with some pretty neat miniatures and doll houses. Also includes various toys on display.
This museum had a lot of neat items in it. However, my low review is not about the musuem itself but how the staff there treated my partner and I, and other guests. Basically, when you arrive at the musuem, you have to ring a door bell to be let in. No problem with that system, kind of fun and quirky. The problem is that ringing the doorbell does not bring a staff member to the door. We waited a few minutes, rung a few more times, and eventually another museum visitor saw us and went looking for the person who was overseeing the operations that day (7/14/18).Success, after a few minutes of searching he finds her. Looks like we are in the clear. Then it comes to interacting with this person. While cordial with us, it was clear she was not invested in the conversation. Seriously, there is more emotional investment from the people McDonalds treats like automatons. The whole interaction was more like, here you go, bye. Then she disappeared again. As we went trough the museum there were some amazing things to see. However, we ended up watching a number of other people go through the same process of struggling to be let into the musuem. They would ring the doorbell, ring again, and we would look around for the lady running the show. Somehow she always disappeared just after letting people into the museum. It gave the impression that she was not interested or invested in the expeirence of patrons.
Nice place, although the building is rather old. Will move as soon as a new one is founded and available.
Adorable, old toys inclued, and has a little gift shop
It was an awesome place to read that its being discontinued
Super fun, quaint, interesting, and friendly. Highly recommended.
Very cool experience. The dolls were twerking.
Friendly Staff, house was full of interesting miniature items. There displays were in different parts of a house somewhat in a make do situation.
Attended a great program on dolls very educational very informative highly recommended
Very nice place but not to helpful
Great historical museum with one of a kind items that you cant see anywhere else....definitely a must visit just to play the nes
Great little museum. Too bad they are closing their doors.
This is my favorite museum in the Denver area. I love all the little things that are on display and the opportunity to take a class there.
Childhood revisited. An entire room of Polly Pocket items gives you an idea of the depth here.
Really neat Museum I hope they find a permanent home
Great little museum, fun displays, will be moving to a new site when possible
Arrived to check out the collection but the house is under construction with empty rooms and a closed door. Nothing on Google mentioning the closure or construction. Possible renovations happening but no signage or modifications on property.
I wishing them the best with the new building search!
So many cool minatures!
Out of business :(
Hidden gem. My kids loved it.
