Cant get into park. Under construction. Pavilion is nice. One outhouse.
This is a great place to stop for a break, especially if you are heading toward Yeehaw Junction (20 miles away). There are two covered pavilions with two picnic tables each.. Yet only a single port-a-john (better to stop at the Marathon just a little further down the road). Plenty of nature trail (I have not walked very far from the parking lot) and an interesting story about the history of Sumica on a sign next to the trail entrance. Seems like very little shade except for the pavilions.
Great long trail around the lake or you can take a short trail along the edge.
This is a nice spot for a quick hike. The whole hike was just a bit over a mile. Round trip 2 miles. Theres a nice pier / overlook thing to walk out on.This is also a very historic site. Very early Pioneer Industrial settlement spot. Although you dont see much historical stuff. The nature part is very pretty to see though as far as Central Florida goes. There is a geocache here or two.
Nice quiet walk on the trail. Its worth it to go out to the shelter and listen to all of Floridas creatures.
Beautiful oak hammocks and really wild looking oak trees
This is a primitive Park. You need to bring your own water and toilet paper youre going to need a bicycle or walking stick good shoes or horseback. There is camping and horseback riding here. Beware of snakes and scorpions. The ants will find your food and get into it if youre not careful. There is access to go fishing on Lake walk in the water. Its great for a day outing.
Nobody there and it was a nice cool day for a walk
It was so AWESOME quiet trail so enjoyed!
Great place for break across rt 60!
Hiked down a trail. It was hot so we didnt go far. Will be back soon.
Its good for hikers but I have to use a electric wheelchair, the trails to rough for me.
Follow the old railroad tram road to the catwalk and covered pavilion to a nice wet prairie surrounded by a cypress head. This is a Polk County Environmental Land and is free for hiking biking and horse back riding. There is a very primitive campground available for camping and trails to Walk-in-Water Lake. In the rainy season some of the trails can become very wet. Bring your boots!
This is a nice peaceful place to stop and take a break along highway 60, there are no amenities here covered picnic tables and porta-john only
Wish I had time to hike down to see Sumica... looks like a great hike.
