Very interesting. Excellent docent. Worth the stop.
Nice home to tour..very well maintained..Mr.Bonelli was certainly ahead of his time..he had invented a way to get his wife hot water in her kitchen and had many conveniences most people knew nothing about for years after..Interesting to know that when the family sold the home to the town it was with the understanding it would always be preserved and several of the great great grandchildren continue return to tour the house
This was a fun little tour of the Bonelli House, and my tour guide was thorough and informative. The entrance fee was minimal. The house holds many of the original furnishings and was so very charming. At the end of the tour I was given a voucher for free entrance to the following:The Mohave Museum of History & ArtsThe Route 66 Museum &The Bonelli House**Im not sure if this voucher is given to every person who pays for entrance into the Bonelli House **
I arrived at the Bonelli house and was a couple minutes behind another couple. But when I got to the door there was a sign that stated tour in progress, wait on bench. I was only about 90 seconds behind the other couple, but I sat and waited on the bench. Its 53° and windy after about 15 minutes I was cold and went back to my car. I waited. When a couple people left the house, i asked them if the tour was over and they confirmed it was. The sign hadnt changed, but they had just left. I walked up to the house and opened the door where a rude man blocked my entrance and insisted I couldnt come in. I said I just talked to the couple they said the tour was over and he stated he was just finishing up and I had to leave. Honestly, I get trying to do these things with limited manpower, but I have a very low tolerance for rude people. And that man was very rude. I just left without waiting around. There are 2 other museums in town that employ polite knowledgeable people and I would recommend heading in that direction.
Awesome to be standing in part of our history
This is my favorite place to take out of town guests when they come to visit. The Bonelli house is one of the original structures in Kingman. It fascinates me the way that the owner understood desert environment living and cleverly adjusted his home to that. Most of the items in the home were originally owned by the Bonelli family. the tour guides are well-versed in the history and the little stories about the family that you just cant find anywhere else. If this type of museum is your thing, you cant go wrong here.
One of the interesting attractions in Kingman is the historical Bonelli House ($2 suggested donation) which was built in 1915, representing an example of Anglo Territorial Architecture. Opening Hours 11am to 3pm (Monday-Friday).This century old homestead was built out of local tufa stone by George Bonelli and was used by the Bonelli family until 1973 when it was purchased by the city of Kingman. The exterior of the house is very interesting to see if you enjoy architecture. You can also tour the inside of the Bonelli House, being led by a local volunteer who will take you through various rooms of the house, explaining the period furniture available to be seen.Overall, this is a neat building to see both on the inside and out and is worth 30-45 minutes of your time if sightseeing in the Kingman area.
One of my favorite spots in Kingman. Beautiful garden. Awesome to learn about the history of the house and the Town. Tour guides are super knowledgeable. Its very interesting to see how things were a hundred years ago. Much of the house is decorated with Bonelli family artifacts. For a few bucks you can tour the museum and check out the power house and the County Museum. The scavenger hunt at the power house is fun and you win a little prize
This place is awsome! Plenty of space and activities. Beautiful at sunset
Very interesting. Tour guide was great
While on vacation we toured museums and Bonelli was one of them. Wonder gentleman gave us a private tour and told us about the history of the home and area! Great stop!
Enjoyed the informational tour. Our guide was patient, informed and personable. My previous experience as an Docent of a Historical Home/Farm in Fremont, Ca might have clouded my judgement, but not at Bonelli House!I look forward to exploring into volunteer opportunities here soon.
Very nice tour. Curator was full of information. Amazing how our lives have changed!
We just walked past it as we were walking for Cancer. Kingman AZ is so beautiful ️ when you are not driving!
Tour was excellent. Dont miss this if you are a fan of antiques
Nice old place to look at nice shade trees and grass.
Nice historical part of kingman definitely worth checking out if your into that the house is furnished with stuff from the era in which the house was used as a house I enjoyed my visit there
Great tour guide! So much information given in an enjoyable way. Everyone enjoyed it from 6 years old to 44. The best of the three tours.
I felt like I was at homeThe style of the home was made in 1919 but it was upgrades and modernized for its time. If this style of home (plantion + rectangular+ Victorian+ ranch [1800s wild west desert average home]) was made in present day I would but the house. The docent who works there was very informative. If I was allowed to touch the nearly 100 year old furniture, I would have staid and had tea with the docent; that is how much at home I felt.
The Bonelli House is one of the many awesome historical landmarks here in Kingman Az. It is not difficult to see that it has been well preserved and maintained, from the well kept yard to the beautiful interior.I really do love the story behind this particular historical landmark. The Bonelli House is one of the first places I was shown when I moved here in 1988 and it still looks the same today.
So historical and the guide was very informative and pleased to share information about the house
I love history and this house is full of it its a must see in kingman
This is a must visit! Had a blast learning about local history and the tour guide was quite informative and friendly! It was a short tour but the house is gorgeous inside and out!
Really enjoyed the history of this place. Loved the roominess of this type if house.
Interesting, nicely preserved home. Lots of family photos & history if youre into that. Worth the time.
Very unique place to visit
It beautiful to be able to see history the way it was back a few years ago, this one beautiful house, build to last, not like todays houses built like cracker jack boxs. More people should see this house.
Best museum in Kingman.
Such a cool place to see. Even with kids. But not young kids or kids who have trouble not running around and touching a lot. Goid history lesson
Beautifully maintained old home. Thankfully, the city of Kingman has agreed to make this historical site available to the public and volunteers are willing to provide tours. It is a wonderful stop in Kingman AZ.
