Great hike, amazing views. 1.5 Miles in each direction. About 3 spots where it gets rather steep but most of it is pretty level. Not very slippery if it has been dry out but can get very slick in spots during or after rain. Ive seen people with little kids but I havent taken mine young ones but my teenagers and dog make it no issues. Park at McDonalds, walk along to highway inside the guardrail for about 100 ft and it will be easy to spot the trailhead on your left.
A great view and well worth the hike. By no means a maintained trail so be prepared with good shoes. If wet or been recently raining expect mud...Hawaiian red mud...which stains everything. Recommend waiting for a dry couple of days before heading up. Park in mall parking lot (McDonalds) and follow guard rail, against traffic, to trail head. Easy to find.
Fun little hike. Muddy, steep at the beginning. Lots of peeps.
A much easier hike than the Lanaikai pill boxes with great views from the second pill box. There are 3 or 4 muddy uphill sections but they are short and I think all but the first one by the trail head had ropes.Beyond the second pillbox is a trail that winds around the hill with trial that goes off to the left and follows the ridgeline to the two smaller hills along the ridge. But the best views are really from the pillbox.
Nice family hike...
The trail is muddy. Bring shoes with traction. Good 1.25 hour or so hike. The view is amazing.
Hitting this trail during a wet season is challenging. Go with go shoes and a hiking stick if possible. With steep uphill climbs and wet mud chances of slipping are good. There is lots of elevation changes, narrow passages, but look for red/orange markers to help guide you to pillbox. The hike took close to 3 hours round trip. 45-50mins to hike there, taking in view for an hour, then 45-50mins to hike back. Well worth the time and muddy shoes!
Beautiful views and a great hike but lots of mosquitoes
We headed out on an early Saturday morning, expecting more people but the trail was quiet which was nice. It had been raining the night before so the ground was really muddy! Red Hawaiian mud that stains everything so beware. Do not wear good footwear bring old clothing etc. The trail was not too hard, easy enough if you are fit just slippery if it had been raining previously so beware. What we met at the top of the pill box was just breathtaking! Totally worth the hike and we sat there for an hour taking it in! Great views over Kahaluu and Mokapu.I suggest if you go early in morning you can catch the military testing flights land and take off from the base in the Marine Corps Air station.Wonderful experience!
Great, easy hike with amazing views
Short and sweet! Good hike to do on a sunny day. The view at the end is juat gorgeous! Also, its not a hard hike.
A beautiful hike
The view at the top is killer, was a good hike for my dog, plenty of shade on the way up. A decent elevation change so fairly good exercise. Highly recommended.
Great view and easy hike
Absolutely stunning view of Kaneohe after a moderate 2 mile hike up to the pillbox. Easiest to park by the McDonalds and walk to the trailhead
Every property was posted no trespassing,No real visable
Good place for kida
Relatively easy and enjoyable hike. Went in March and it was pretty muddy. Shoes pretty much covered but worth it.
Very easy to find, parking is hard to find but isnt the trails fault. A short trail most people should be able to accomplish, view is astonishing took only 30 mins to the top with plenty of ease.
Great trail with a beautiful view at the end. Watch your head and your step, lots of short clearance spots and places where you need to make sure you have solid footing . Park in the shopping center and walk the 500 yards or so to the entrance. Hop the guard rail to make sure you avoid traffic!
Nice cool hike with lots of shade, good views.
Great hike great view.
Our son loves this hike. Its literally in our backyard.
Probably the best view on the island. Dont be discouraged by the first hill. It gets easier.
This hike is a hidden treasure. Challenging but so rewarding. One of best views on the island
Great hike, easier yo find than the descriptions led you to believe
Its a short hike, but the view is absolutely worth it. Bring your water, bring some snacks, bring a friend, bring your dog, just go already!
Stunning views. Totally worth the hike!
Great short hike with beautiful views and bunkers.
Took the kids on this hike easy enough for a 5 year old to do. With a beautiful view of the bay at the end.hardest part is the beginning with its steep incline and if it was raining this makes it quite difficult to climb up as it might be slippery.
Great view. Id say moderate to intense if youre not a hiker but if u hike and or climb this is cake!
Muddy, but fun
Fairly easy hike. It is not dangerous. I recommend going on a sunny day when it hasnt rained in a while. The beginning starts with a fairly quick ascent up a dirt hill that is a nightmare if it is raining or muddy. There are some rope sections but they are not necessary for completion of the hike. The view is well worth it and you can see every bit of Kaneohe
Expect mud on rainy/overcast days! Im a hiking novice & took a few breaks along the trail-- but the view was worth it!
Great hike, beautiful view.
Gorgeous scenic & peaceful. I am hiking this again today & I do recommend to children & families.
Great easy hike with great views.
This is a short family friendly hike with beautiful views to the whole Kaneohe Bay. You can see from the MCBH through the Sandbar all the way to Mokolii Island (Chinamans Hat). When the sun is shining over the ocean, the bay just amazing and colorful.
Beautiful views
Muddy and slippery but way worth it
It was awesome
Good hike
