Great little quiet park. We seen a good bit of wildlife. The trail is pretty flat so taking the kids was great. I will suggest a flashlight for the tunnel part. The kids got kinda scared in there in the dark. Found some really cool carving on the tunnel. Some as old as 1805. We will definitely be visiting again.

Great place to bike or walk. Live how they incorporate history lessons along the trail and the tunnel is something to see! Highly recommend!

Had a hard time finding either trailheads because of lack of signs marking where to go. Plus there are alot of roads closed trying to get there from any direction. Will go back up when I have more time to actually get to the tunnel before dark. Will give a better review then.

Great historical park. First railroad tunnel ever dug by hand in the United States. Great hike of 2.5 miles to the tunnel. Picnic tables and restrooms are also provided. The hike is through the Laural Highlands. Great scenery. I suggest checking this historical land mark out.

The Staple Bend Tunnel is always fun to visit. It has an interesting history and its a great bike ride for young children, only two miles from the Mineral Point trail head.

Great addition to our Allegheny Portage Railroad roadtrip. A beautiful walk, 6 separate trains passed on our way to from the tunnel. Definitely wear appropriate shoes. Wish there was more at the park entrance. There was only a few signs regarding the tunnel and a porta potty.

Easy 2 mile trail to the tunnel. The awesome thing is in the summer its much cooler in the tunnel and helps you cool off. If you keep going after the tunnel it becomes the path of the flood trail n gets more challenging but i guess thats for a different review.

This site is a 2.1 mile hike plus the return. The grandchildren and we enjoyed the walk on the old rail bed,an easy walk. The tunnel is the first railroad tunnel that is 900 feet long. Well worth it.

What a great place! Its full of history and well documented. If you go beyond the tunnel by bicycle, the trail change as does the terrain for bicycling. Its our favorite place to ride! The tunnel is a great cool down, too!

Nice level area for walk. Little under 2 miles to the tunnel. Good place to bike also. Trail kept clear of any fallen trees. Also amazing how the tunnel was built and it still solid today.

EASY ACESS, PARKING LOT, SMOOTH TRAIL, GREAT RIDE, Amazing fews of the path of the Johnstown flood. Trail does have one area of steep up Hill in the middle of the trail. But I was amazed at how much forest green space and it was a great experience riding the trail. Minerpoint to Franklin. Definitely a must experience.
