Great trail for taking pictures. Some of the people that walk this trail think they own the place but this is a public park. Great scenery and the trail takes you out by the water. Some of the biggest hills in Jacksonville are here.
Always a fun time going to this trail. Very easy for people of all ages. Just bring bug spray
Great place to hike..trails for the beginner or the avid hiker..dont be misled by the map..the distance is longer than it dictates. Also trail could be manicured a bit more...lots of mosquitoes must have repellent or protective clothes...I took the short trail this 1st time.
Such a lovely experience with so much to offer. I spent just over 2 hours here because it is linked to other trails as well. So much to see, so much take in and just notice whats around you. Nature will always overcome.
Quiet, peaceful, natural walkways,so watch your footing.roots from trees Kris Kross walk ways so wheel chairs could be a challenge
Wonderful set of trails. To the north of the parking lot there is a UF Grad student project going on regarding insects. Beautiful old Florida scenery with oak hammocks and oyster shell mounds throughout the area. Marsh and riverfront views abound. Plenty of people and their fur babies taking advantage of this space today. The trails also boast benches throughout for those who may need to take a break.
Good for a hike. Trails are primitive with some trip hazards (tree roots, holes, etc, ). Wear some good walking shoes!
Open 9-5. No gate. No fee. Heavily traveled. Parking for 15+- vehicles, 12 on the day I went. Trail is 4-8 feet wide, well maintained, packed sand & boardwalk with exposed tree. Roots. 1.4 mile out & back (2.4 +- mile round trip) with various optional loops at the end adding another 1 mile +-. Trail branches off to the Theodore Roosevelt parking lot, making the there and back an estimated total of 4 miles. No bathrooms, porto-potty, or water (if desperate, there is a hose and functional faucet behind the bathrooms at the Theodore parking lot). Trash cans at trailhead, dogs allowed though no dog poop bags provided. Strong 4G. Verizon signal. Path is well marked - could not get lost (note that they are color coded, so take a photo of the map key). Completely shaded / rain deflected by trees & lush undergrowth.
I tried it for the first time. Very good walking trail. I would rival this trail with the Lyonia Preserve Trail in Deltona, Florida. Both trails are long with hills. I recommend it. Especially, in the morning.
Our first time been here and we love it
Easy to find the trail, connects with Timucuan Trail as well. You get to see the shell mounds, a salt marsh, the pond and a hermits cabin (well what’s left). Good for spotting birds, noticed 4 species without trying hard. Easy for all ages, medium traffic and dog friendly. The trail is very well marked, maintained and easy to navigate. Might be a good one for trail running in Jax, will give it a try and update.
Beautiful place to hike. Miles of trails through pristine coastal wilderness area bordering St. Johns River marsh at one point. Nice lookout tower with great views of marsh and river.
Awesome trail and good views. Bring lots of bug spray.
Super nice peaceful free place to take a walk/hike/run and it has a hill for a good incline workout.
Nice walk. Bring bug spray
A few muddy patches near the parking lot end on a wet day the rest of the trail was beautifully maintained. We got as far as the cabin before looping back.
Beautiful and peaceful hiking trails near the river. Property was owned by Willie Brown, who donated it so everyone could enjoy the beauty of nature
Really nice running trails
It was really nice. We saw a turtle & hawks. I enjoyed it.
Really nice and easy trails here, you start off through the woods and then go on the salt marches where there’s an overlook platform. You get amazing views here and it’s great to watch the sunset! Coming back you can take a big chunk of the same route or you can get a little longer alternate route, which is very scenic. Great place to show off Florida nature to your visitors!
Very and nice place. Realazing.
Beautiful well-kept walking trail that is a mainly tree canopy with a clearing and lookout tower
Beautiful and extensive trails.
It was a lot of fun. We didn’t go too far because we had our little one, but we plan to be back soon. Gorgeous scenery.
Love this trail for all its wildlife and scenery. During hotter months expect mosquitoes and horse-flies. Once it cools down all trails become bug-less. Spanish Pond is great for walking or jogging, highly recommend.
Amazing trails. Dog friendly, no bicycles.
Nice place to have a walk but apply bugs cream.
A favorite to visit and hike!
Likes it great to be out in nature

Great place to hike but lots of mosquitos. Bring the deet
Another beautiful park with nice long tails all the way to the water and awesome observation deck of the river Willie Browne was a great man. Thank you for the beauty.
Nice trail. My little dog was attacked by a pitbull! Be aware of other dogs when if they are on a leash!
Nice place for a walk.
Really nice & cool on a hot day due to the shade. Take insect repellent due to deer flies
Nice nature trails to enjoy.
Great trail. Peaceful
Really good, easy walking trail with great view at the end!
Beautiful oaks!
