An excellent park - well kept paths, river-view decks and a huge dock. This park also has a number of historical buildings. To see and plaques providing historical context to many of the interesting things you’ll find while exploring. Our kids love to find the painted frogs hidden around the park.

Not a lot to it, but surely worth a visit: some historical buildings, picnic facilities, walking trail (.3mi loop), boardwalk with a few nice vantage points along the St Johns River. Nice setting for a contemplative interlude. Not particularly child-friendly. Happy to be within walking distance.

A gorgeous, peaceful place - usually very quiet, even if there are a lot of people there. Wide, shady sidewalks that form some loops to make rounds on a walk/run, pet-friendly.Great place for photography - Ive spotted some wild rabbits on occasion! Sunset over the dock is lovely too. Buildings are historic and open Saturday mornings, if history is your thing.Good for Pokémon Go as well - a small handful of gyms and a decent number of stops. Mostly Mystic controlled, and the gyms stay up for quite some time.Saturday mornings also allow you to purchase and paint a stone frog to either place within the park or take home with you; a fun couples activity, or some engagement for the kids (as there are no playgrounds.)

Great place for a leisurely stroll. Often overrun by photographers, picturesque Walter Jones Historic Park is probably one of the most photographed places in Jacksonville. There are a few historic buildings, benches, picnic areas with tables and shelters. There’s a nice paved path as well as a short boardwalk with views of the St John’s River to be had. Relax on the lawn under century old live oaks, take a romantic swing, or enjoy learning about the old farm by reading plaques places around the site. Certain times of year you can see chickens as well. Children have fun looking for all the frog statues hidden around the site.

It was a cool little place. Kind of small, but I love the history. Unfortunately the buildings were locked up when I went, but looking through the windows allowed you to see most of what was inside. Its a shame that the dock next to it is destroyed. Thats not part of the park, so thats not reflected in my review. The signs around the park tell some great local history.

This park has wooden boardwalks raised over the marsh to allow you to walk out to the waters edge and view St. Johns River. The view of the river during the evening hours is beautiful and picturesque! There were few people when I ran through on a Saturday afternoon. Perfect little place to take a walk through. I wouldnt plan on staying any longer than an hour due to its size.

This small historic park in the old mandarin area is rather charming and on the way to restoring the attached pier after hurricane damage; be sure to check out the museum near the park entrance as well. Popular with photographers and artists, the winding paved paths and historic buildings make for a scenic walk. Two pavilions are available for reservation with restrooms nearby.
