Had our wedding and reception here in the basement, it was brilliant, the staff were great and super helpful, would definitely come back here if I was having another event!

This is a fantastic venue to host any type of party small or large. I helped my mother host the dinner rehearsal for my brothers wedding and used the event room in the lower level. The room was very comfortable, beautifully lit, and perfect for our group of 40 people. Our caterer brought in the food and we had access to the nearby bar. The game room was perfect to help keep the younger ones entertained. The next day started early decorating the main ballroom for the reception hosting nearly 300. Everything was set up and ready to go for us that morning. James and his staff were there every step of the way to ensure we had everything we needed. The entire weekend went smooth and we had many compliments how nice everything turned out. I would highly recommend using the McGowan Hall for your next event. James and his staff will not disappoint.

I just had my wedding reception with McGowan Hall on 08-08-2020. Robert was so great! He was willing to accommodate some things to make sure my hubby and I had a great night. Our night was everything we dreamed. Its a nice place to have your wedding or reception and affordable.

My husband and I were married at McGowan Hall on October 5th. From the time we booked the venue at the beginning of the year, James Allen was absolutely amazing! He was available for phone calls, texts, emails and visits from us and made us feel like family. McGowan Hall is beautiful and he helped make our wedding perfect. He has years of knowledge and offered ideas and advice, which we took to heart. He was there when we decorated the day before our wedding and was there for the entire duration of our ceremony and reception. James helped keep everything on track and was a wonderful host! It is clear that he takes so much pride in McGowan Hall and the services that they provide. They are so incredibly lucky to have him! We will certainly rent McGowan Hall again for our next big gathering. We rented the Council Room/Bar and it was just the right amount of space. I cannot say enough about James Allen and McGowan Hall!!!

Our daughter and son-in-law recently had their wedding reception at McGowan Hall. Everyone we dealt with was amazing and bent over backwards to help when needed. We had about 200 guests and the space was perfect for a large group. There was plenty of room for stand-up tables for the cocktail hour and the seating area was spacious including a large dance floor area. McGowan Hall is beautifully historic. Everything about it has a story. Its a versatile venue, able to meet the needs of a wide variety of events. The staff is fantastic. We cant wait to go back!

Everyone at McGowan went above and beyond to make our wedding dreams come true! Everything from the first meeting with James, to Robert scrambling to find us a projector the day of our wedding was perfect and so helpful! They made sure we felt comfortable with everything! The space is georgous and they were able to accommodate us for the rehearsal dinner and getting ready the day of! They were able to recommend a great dj as well! We would 100% recommend McGowan to anyone looking for an event space!!

Great venue that has a 1920s type feel. A hidden gem. I have enjoyed multiple events here and am impressed that there is now having swing dancing on Thursday nights. Robert is great to work with for booking events, I highly recommend.

Had our wedding reception here. James was very helpful from the start and was very quick with responses any time I had a question. The day of the event went as smooth as possible. We did the set up and when it came time for people to arrive the venue looked amazing with the uplighting. James was a great bartender and the crowd loved him. Before we left the staff got everything taken down and all we had to do was take home the stuff we brought. Would definitely recommend!

The venue was really nice. I went there for a new years eve roaring 20s party. The bathrooms were a little small, but its an old building so it wasnt made for todays folk.

What a lovely place staff was friendly and outgoing we had my sweet 16 Birthday Party here last year i cant say enough about them love the historic venue and the lighting of the Grand Hall everyone told us how much they loved the Venue we will definitely host another party here at McGowan Hall thanks again Robert and Staff

This place is a very Historic Building and Friendly Staff my family has held several events here they allow us to bring in our own food. This will always be our go place to for all of our events. Thank you McGowan Hall for such a great experience.

Wedding reception- I had my 300 + guest wedding reception, and I would do it again in a heart beat. It may not be the five star hotel hall (which would put you $20,000 under!), but having your reception at this historic building is so worth it. Super affordable for a downtown wedding- bring in your own catering. Cheapest bar prices Ive ever seen for a wedding reception (I researched quite a bit!). This hall is SO EASY to dress up and make look super good for a wedding if youre willing to be creative! You would never have any was idea it was just a Knights of Columbus Hall. James available for me whenever I had a question and he gave my family and I so much personal help and pro tips. Him and his family were there the day of my wedding to be extra hands and feet for us. I could never thank McGowan Hall enough. If youre looking for affordable in downtown Indy, elegant, personal, and people who will treat you like family, McGowan Hall is what you need for such a special day!!!!

I had an event here on the 13th of July and it was a blast. James and staff were phenomenal and we will be back. They were so helpful throughout the night even leading up to my parents 50th anniversary party. It’s one of Indianapolis’ hidden treasures. I hosted my dads 60th birthday party at this venue and I cant say enough good things about the people and the place!! Wonderful space, service and location! I worked with James and his wife who were phenomenal throughout the entire process! James stepped in and helped when my sister and I were setting up! Anything we needed he was willing to help or at least give suggestions. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Thank you thank you for an amazing event!! I recommend anyone to go with this venue!!

We came for a Christmas party. It was clean and easy to navigate. The staff was friendly and hilarious. There was live piano and it really set the mood in the incredible vintage bar. Lots of character here, good drinks and good times. We will be back!

Sneaky bar inside is one of Indys greatest kept secrets. Watch for the Open sign, its rarely on, but good times await when the neon glows.

Attended a Blue Earth Skeletons concert here on 10/19/18. WOW -very impressed with McGowan Hall! This place has an amazing ambiance, ample space, & great acoustics. I love our historic buildings in downtown Indy and This place has kept that nostalgia alive. I was pleasantly surprised with the parking for being downtown and easy to find and access to highway. Would definitely recommend for parties, events, weddings, concerts. Blue Earth Skeletons rocked out Hendrix, Zeppelin & Sabbath- I couldnt believe my ears! This group of musicians were on point. Ive been to over 100 concerts in my life and I felt lucky enough to experience the talent these guys have. Hats off to McGowan Hall & Blue Earth Skeletons- I will be back!

We had our wedding here last month, and I never could have imagined a better and more beautiful place for us to become one! James was amazing to work with every step of the way, and the day of the wedding was beyond what words could describe. The venue and the people were both so amazing and made our day even more perfect! You are able to provide your own food(which was a huge plus for us), parking was way more than enough, set up & take down were both stress free, and having the staff there the entire night was also a huge plus because they were so attentive and beyond helpful! Definitely a 10/10 for us, and will be recommending to everyone we know!

Loved this place! I had a wedding reception here and it was the perfect space for what we wanted. Super laid back and easy to work with. The people who work there are super nice and are quick to get back with you if you have any questions. The building itself is older and full of character, which I personally loved. I would definitely recommend this place!

Went to see Pirates of Penzance with my family and it was awesome! It was my girls second play and they had an absolute blast. There are bathrooms, clean facilities and plenty of concession options as well as parking available.

Several great community events are held here in this historic location. Many different rental space options -- Ive brought students here, been here for wedding receptions, and community plays. It is a deceptively large venue -- a hidden gem on the Old Northside of Indy. Lots of history & charm -- and bonus, tons of great parking spots!

One of the best hall north of downtown Indianapolis. We had our 20s formal dance, the hall is so big and everything was amazing. They also have a stage where there was live band.

Have attended a number of events . Les Miserables, 2 Roaring 20s events, as well as two or three other plays. I am impressed by the capacity and the number of different venues.They also have smaller rooms for business meetings .
