I worked with Tara at Indiana Landmarks Center for my October 2020 wedding. We chose ILC for our ceremony and reception due to the fact that there are two separate main event spaces, The Grand Hall and Cook Theater, that we could use to our needs. ILC also had their own parking lot and an elevator to get to the second floor mezzanine which are both hard to come by in a downtown historic venue. When we had to postpone our original May wedding due to Covid, Tara was a pleasure to work with when searching for a new date. She was easily accessible by phone and email and was so flexible with us when our guest count was continuously changing with the government restrictions. Tara, Maureen and Alan were all present on our wedding day and we can’t thank them enough for their hard work in making a beautiful wedding happen during a pandemic! I would highly recommend ILC for events as the team is great to work with, and the space is just beautiful with so many options for fitting small to large groups of people safely.
I booked Indiana Landmarks for a wedding ceremony and reception area. I stumbled across this venue after much searching. I was looking for a beautiful, elegant venue (although the reception area can definitely be turned into a rustic theme) that was not over the top expensive, and also did not require brides to sign with their one caterer option. This venue offered many caterers to choose from (I chose MBP and loved them also). A problem I ran into with other venues of not having a big enough ceremony area to fit my guest count (250 initially), Indiana Landmarks did not have this problem at all. The Grand Hall is very spacious and of course gorgeous and grand. They had a switch toward the end of my wedding planning with their event coordinator. I was nervous about this switch because Alyssa was awesome and always got back to my emails or phone calls which is more than I can say of most of my other vendors. However, Samantha who took her place did a phenomenal job. Leading up to the bid day, I did a final walk-through with Samantha and my day of coordinator. Samantha was there during the rehearsal and was there the day of the wedding from start to clean up. Samantha always responded to every email and phone call in a timely manner. She did an awesome job and I even found out things that Alyssa did not previously tell me, such as I could display a couple photos on the TV for guests to see and make my own signs directing guests to fit my theme instead of using theirs. I will say they are strict on items that can be used on the grounds, but I understand as this is a historical building. For example, I wanted to use sky lanterns during my send-off and because of the no open flame rule that was a no go. I adjusted and used glow sticks instead. We even received our deposit back (yay!) I have heard too many stories of venues coming up with various reasons why they have to keep the bride and grooms’ deposit. This venue was an absolute dream and guests were in awe. It was everything I could have over hoped it would be.
Beautiful venue with great staff
Indiana Landmarks is absolutely beautiful. We used this venue for our wedding ceremony and reception. It is very well taken care of and the history of the building is one of a kind. Many of our family and friends commented that it was the most beautiful places that they have been to for a wedding. Caitlin and Alyssa were both great to work with! Both were extremely helpful and professional. Both ladies helped make sure all went smooth for our wedding day!
Indiana Landmarks Center was fantastic in every way. Our daughter got married this past July 30th and the venue was perfect. Beautiful, well appointed, accessible, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Friends told me, and I agree, that the sanctuary was perhaps one of the most beautiful they had ever seen. The reception hall was just as amazing. Not sure that anything about the venue could have been any better. Thank you so much!!
Let me preface this review by saying I did a LOT of research when it came to ceremony and reception venues. I knew I wanted a venue that was classic and historic, could house about 200+ guests for both ceremony and reception, in a convenient location that showcased the city I love. I was losing hope that I could find everything I wanted, until I stumbled on an online comment to a venue I was looking at that mentioned the Indiana Landmarks Center. I was overwhelmed by its beauty inside and outside, from the gorgeous brick parking lot, to the lush outside patio, to the impressive chapel (with the original, refurbished pipe organ and Steinway piano!), the getting ready rooms and the gleaming theater/reception space. We booked it that day.Staff members were always pleasant, professional and went above and beyond (so I never worried about the day). We just had our wedding and reception there this past weekend and it was perfect. All of our guests kept commenting on how impressed they were with the venue. There was ample parking, lots of room for guests to mill about, and the vendor arrangement was seamless with the help of Lorna. I couldnt imagine a better venue and a better day. Im sure as more and more people discover this place, the ILC will have a lot more weddings on their hands :)
Expertly restored century old building that offers occasional event hosting
This is so beautiful inside and a perfect place to have a concert or Im sure a wedding. The only problem is the lovely church pews hurt your back after a short time.
Beautiful building and great staff. Open areas for meetings, seminars or any event you can think of. The old wood aroma and character have a warm, welcoming feeling as you wonder through this marvelous building.
Beautiful place
I had my wedding here and while this venue is absolutely breathtaking in its beauty, the staff and leadership here is extremely poor. When things would go wrong on my wedding day, they made sure to seek out me (the bride) and blame me for any problems that occurred. Instead of trying to fix any problem that arose, they stood and talked near the office area amongst themselves. They also didnt inform us that by using our bands sound system, people in adjacent rooms would be unable to hear. MAKE SURE YOU USE THEIR SOUND SYSTEM even if they say that you can use your bands. The event coordinator there is extremely snippy and rubbed many of my guests the wrong way. She was also almost completely absent from the day. We were completely on our own once the ceremony began. No one gave a signal as to when the girls should walk down the aisle and I didnt even have anyone to open the door when it was my turn to walk down the aisle. With one arm on my dad and a bouquet in the other hand, this made things rather difficult and I had to ask my photographer to open the door for me. Their poor management was extremely unfortunate since they have such a beautiful facility. Also, make sure that you know that no one will be around to help you for your rehearsal. The event coordinator will make sure that she rudely expresses to you what time you need to be out and then will disappear for an hour. If I were to do my wedding all over again, I would still choose this venue because it is unique and stunning, but I would have liked to be aware of all of these things before my actual day so that we could avoid these issues within their leadership. Therefore, I wrote this review to help any future bride! I hope it is beneficial!
Friends of ours had a wedding here and it made for a great wedding venue. Classy interior.
A very worthwhile organization.
