Really lovely Japanese garden. Its in a convenient spot in the center of town, right along the greenbelt and river. Its a really nice spot to walk around, but the highlight for me was the clear care that went into assembling the garden. The river water is carefully channelled through the garden, there are stone lotus stepping stones, and stone lanterns are placed around the garden. Definitely worth a walk.

Not the best Zen Garden in the world, but considering its Eastern Idaho, its still one of the most peaceful places right in the heart of town. Considering that the place used to be a fish hatchery for the Snake River, Im glad to have grown up by here and being able to see how its evolved into the relaxing place that it is, right next to the water falls.

This was an accidental find for me. Our plan was to stretch our legs with a short walk along the river to check out Idaho Falls. The Japanese Friendship Garden is situated on an easily accessible walking path that crosses the river to an island that has a beautiful peaceful garden that incorporates the entire island. It is definitely worth the time to take a relaxing walk here. Note that there are a number of steps so it would limit access to some areas to those requiring handicapped friendly travels. Be sure to check out the pictures.

Beautiful place to visit. Grounds were well kept, flowers were pretty. The waterfalls adding the ambience. Bathrooms were exceptionally clean, but the water wasnt running in the bathroom the day I went, which is why I gave 4/5 stars.

Well Ive lived in Idaho Falls for awhile and gone near it when the Farmers Market was in the Bank Parking lot and driven by it many times. I have not walked around it much til I recently started walking my dog in that area and the West Side from the Taylor Crossing Buildings off of Utah Ave.. Nice Area could be kept up a little more, some of metal plaques of History are hard to read. But a Nice little Area.

Beautiful garden! What a find in the middle of Idaho falls. The grounds were very poorly kept however. Trash cans overflowing and the smell of poop and trash was overwhelming in some areas. If this can be remedied it is most definitly a 5 star destination!

Such a nice place, but I would advise going early in the morning if you’re looking for a peaceful walk around. Otherwise, you’ll run into annoying families treating the park as their own personal photo studio.

This garden provides a unique opportunity to sneak away and enjoy a small slice of the Japanese culture, just down stream from the falls in this lovely town. The rock formations, waterfalls, miniature ponds, small structures and unique walking paths all combined to provide this community with a piece of living art. This garden also contains a platform for events,

They have done such a great job with this place. It truly is a work of art which inspires me while Im in it. I like to look at all the huge boulders they so meticulously placed together to make pathways, gardens, and walls. Its simply beautiful and astounding that it could be done in such a way. Thank you to the wonderful people who designed it and especially to all the people who planned it and constructed it. Its a minuet between man and nature, the chaos of both these major forces coming together in balanced rythm.

This was my one of my kids top favorite thing in Idaho Falls (and we went a lot of places!) The little pathways, the river on all sides (the Japanese Garden is actually on an island!), getting to cross the bridges, the little stones in the middle of the river, and the absolute beauty of it all....we had a lot of fun and will definitely return when in Idaho Falls again!

This park is beautiful. We came here on a Thursday and it wasn’t too busy. There were kids playing in some of the water features (not the river!) and the water was quite chilly. The park has a few places with guard rails but once you get down on to the path it’s pretty open and can be dangerous if you fall in the water. If you have kids that like to run wild, you will most definitely want to monitor them here. There are lots of cliffs and different ways that you could easily fall in.Overall, the park was very well maintained and very clean. It took me by surprise as to how pretty it is. There are benches throughout the different little walking paths to sit down on. A couple of different places you can stick you feet in the water, one of which is on the path itself, which you can moderately easily step over. It is fine for walking in flip flops as well. Very easy and very beautiful in the summer!

Ive been here many times, and I always find something new and interesting. The walking path extends along both sides of thr Snake and the falls. You can bike, jog, walk, etc. I went yesterday and ended up walking via all the large boulders. This is a pretty popular place, so there are lots of people, but you can still find a peaceful shady spot to sit. There are plenty of trashcans (please use them) and benches placed along the path, and it is up-kept really well. The Japanese garden is one of my favorite areas there. If you dont have a dog but want to pet dogs, this is a great place to go!

Its a nice little well kept walking area inside the larger trail around the Snake River. Ive been in the area for a long time and have watched this place go from a dilapidated muck area that was neat enough, to a beautifully landscaped Japanese Garden with a tons of water features and sitting areas. For anyone who doesnt know, Idaho Falls sister city is Tokai-Mura in Japan. There is a statue feature near the waterfall that was given to IF by Tokai-Mura and it sort of became the center feature that inspired the friendship garden. There were two of these statues originally, but one of them was destroyed by vandals not long after they were originally put up.
