We walk through this park a couple times a week. Most of the campers parked here have all exceeded the max stay limit. Many are locals and this appears to be their home. That is what it is but if you are looking for a clean safe place to recreate with your family this is not the place. I gave it a second star because the RV dump is handy and always works.

This place is a masterpiece. Theyve redone a big section of the greenbelt in the last few years and completely revamped the Chinese gardens at the Taylors Crossing bridge. I get inspired Everytime I go there. Its definitely worth your time to visit. The rock structures are impressive and I thank all the people who worked together to produce this inspiring work of art. It blends the worlds of man and nature very gracefully.

This park has a bad reputation. We wanted to do a bike campout with our young children and it was the most reasonable park as far as distance goes. However, so many people warned against it including a police officer friend of mine.We did it anyway! There were a few characters that seemed a little shady but they kept to themselves and we had a wonderful and uneventful night. If we keep treating this park like it is the slum of the city it will only get worse. There were so many good people there and the host was awesome! Go and enjoy an easy campsite close to home.It was $15 per night. A bit steep but maybe that is an effort to deter some people from staying the night.

This is urban camping. The grounds are clean though and grass is nice. Very small camp site in the middle of an industrial area. Next to trains and trailer park that have roosters. And if your in a tent watch out for sprinklers! Only $15 though. Good cheap spot if your in a camper or RV and only stopping through.

Great access to the snake river and falls via boat, the campgrounds are clean, and has boat access, though you are next to industrial equipment including trains. I would recommend this site for boating and water access to go upstream. I will be returning for future trips.

If you are looking for a nice little park to have lunch or fish this will do. Trailer dumping, bathrooms and fire rings. A pretty walking path along the river but I wouldnt go alone. Boat ramps for launching also, not a big stretch of the Snake to boat on.

Grounds were clean with a pretty view of the river. With the exception of the trash trucks coming by at 3am (terrifying when they pull next to your tent while your sleeping), our meth loving neighbor, and our other neighbor blasting explicit rap at 9am while fishing with his young kids, it was delightful!

So we pulled up and made dinner. While we were making dinner we noticed that more and more homeless drugged out looking people started showing up. We decided that we should not stay the night and apparently from reading other reviews we left just before the sprinklers could soak all of our gear.. We couldnt get out of there fast enough!...if you like meth this may be the spot for you...if not the super 8 was clean and affordable

This place has come a long way from just being BFers park. Now they have mature trees, clean bathrooms, things for the kids to play on. The park slopes right down to the river. The view is not bad either.

Ch
Review №19

Its well kept and a nice place to have a picnic, or wade in the boat dock area, but I wouldnt recommend wading in the shallows unless you have shoes on because a lot of fish hooks get snagged there. There is a drop off though so watch your kids and make sure they have on a life vest even for wading. Water birds frequent the area.Today there was a big rock chuck grazing on grass and that was cool. Theres plenty of room to play some frizbee or boat if you have one. There are numbered campsites that have stand alone iron grills and one or two with a fire pit. Picnic tables in some areas, but not in every site. One or two benches in a few spots, a small playground and his and hers bathrooms.Fishing isnt bad in the evening or morning when the waters calm. Okay to swim off the docks when theres no boats, but not without shoes.Overnight camping is okay for one night only and a fee, but wouldnt nowadays unless you have a locked place to sleep because theres a trailer park close by were a stabbing took place a few years back. I would recommend for daytime fun for sure, sunrise to sunset.

We have stayed here many times over the years when passing through. The campground used to be free, but in the last couple years there is $15 charge. There is no electric, water, or sewer hookup. There is a dump station. The campground is right on the river with boat access. The area is very clean and well maintained. There is a camp host. A paved bike/walking path runs right by. All sites are level and paved.

This park is a super cool park to hang out at during the day. It’s right on the river. Has a great little dock. Sometimes the people that hangout there freak me out a bit. Especially the folks camping there. We’ve felt comfortable as a daytime play area but not som much as an evening area.

This is quite literally a camp ground in a city. The back-end of a trailer park is next to the campground. The sprinklers came on right as we were grilling dinner. There are only two decent spots next to the river, otherwise you might as well be in a city park...right down to the streetlights staying on all night long.

I first pulled in and started unloading my stuff I got approached my 3 police vehicles, 6 cops in total. Said that some person in mustard was fighting with other campers. I obviously wasn’t the one since I was in a charger. Cops were respectful but they did warn me that this camp ground is known for sketchy folks and Craig’s list meet ups so to be careful. I thanked the officers and they left. About 20 min later sprinklers came on soaking all of my gear and sleeping bag. So sleeping in 34degree weather with a wet sleeping bag is going to be amazing only plus side is it’s next to water and it’s $15 a night.I’m very frustrated and unhappy with this experience.

I have stayed in this park several times a year for the past 23 years and it has always been one of our favorite places along the Snake River. There are no water, sewer or electric hook-ups, but 2 dump stations and 2 fresh water spickets to fill tanks. There are separate men and women toilet facilities and wash basins, but no shower facilities. The grass is always nicely mowed and theres plenty of shade. There is a new $15.00 per night fee to camp there after many years of free camping

We found this park in May 2013 when we asked at a service station off the highway. Nice to find a free tent site for a stopover on our travels.

Your experience here can vary with the time of year. Overall this is a decent park with quite a few places to camp and even spots for RVs. That said, during the summer there are several permanent residents even though the park has signs saying there should be no extended camping. There is also low income house which borders the park and provides for some interesting visitors at times. In the early spring or late fall the park is usually completely empty. The river and path through the park are also nice year round.

Please do yourself a favor and spend the money on a hotel for the night. Saving money is not worth the sketchy activity that appears to go on in this campground constantly. What a great idea. We were traveling north and needed a stop for one night. We found a great spot and around 6 pm cars started driving in and parking at the south end. It was constant all evening. We dont know if there is drug dealing going on or what. It seems more patroling is needed. We may not come here again.

A bit of news from an IF resident: As of July 2016, the IFPD has begun regular patrols of the park. That should ease concerns about undesirable folk hanging out in our campground. The park is as beautiful as others have stated, and we also have a free North Tourist Park for travellers. Id also like to mention that there are several RV repair shops within a mile of South Tourist Park, in case you need some work done while youre here. And welcome to Idaho Falls. Hope you enjoy our little campground, and check out our museums and stuff while youre here! Fish, hike, swim, enjoy, but dont feed the geese please!P.S. Yes, it is a bit hard to find since the campground isnt visible from the highway. The South Tourist Park sign points at what appears to be an asphalt driveway. Follow the driveway about 100 yards, right down to the riverside.

Best way to describe this place is: sketchy. The tent section is littered with sketchy white trash and what are clearly homeless transients. The No Tent/RV section is a little better even with garbage litter everywhere but expect traffic coming thru all night. This place makes staying in a Walmart parking lot like a stay at the Taj Mahal palace. The only good thing about this place is its free and within city limitsYou get what you pay for...

Only reason for the 3 stars is for boondocking only, no other amenity other than toilet. There are train sounds at night but I like it. Found the city park as very tired tourists in a small mh on Friday night of labor day weekend. There was space and we were tired and relieved to find something. There are 2 other rvs here that dont look like they are 1 nighters and the boat launch is here however people have driven by parked, walked, gotten their bikes out and ridden, walked their dogs, launched their boats. We are in a very nice small mh and have not felt uneasy at all. Due to my tummy being at unrest, even we are staying 1 more night before heading out. Big shade tree, breeze and water front.
