5 star all the way, plan out your visit when they are having an open house. It is an amazing place, we had lots of fun doing the scavenger hunt, people there were very friendly to my kids and patient. Highlight of our trip to Hendersonville. Boys and girls, people of all ages will enjoy this one.

Sarurday Market - Lots of veggies. Our first time. Gigantic local cantalope, lots of tomatoes. Almost too many ppl without masks and TOO many not keeping a minimum 6 ft so only 4 stars!

Fantastic little place! Model train setups are extremely detailed, well worth a visit. Model club members are enthusiastic about answering any questions you or your kid might have. Great craftsmanship for adults to admire, while being very welcoming of small children - stools and benches all over so they get a great view!

This place is pretty cool. Your experience will depend on the volunteer thats working there. Weve been twice and each was a different experience. I must warn you, they take their trains SERIOUSLY. Do not make any jokes referencing to the Addams family trains that crash into each other. You will get the snake eye and no one will speak to you again. I would not recommend this place for children under five.

The Historic Railroad Depot has been renovated and is the home of the Historic Railroad Club. There are several model trains, tracks, buildings both large and small. One railroad can be operated by children and features Thomas the train and his friend Emily. There is a large model train and track outside featuring Thomas and Percy. There are always club members present and ready to talk trains and answers questions. Open Wed. 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. and Sat. 1-3 p.m. Admission is free.

A destination for anyone interested in trains! H-O trains spanned 3 rooms in a restored depot. Dozens of tracks all intertwining and a G scale outside. A Thomas the Tank Engine track for kids to control. My son was enthralled and cant wait to go back. Thanks to all of the volunteers who work to make this a dream come true for so many kids and kids at heart!

Fascinating model railroads, great for kids and adults of all ages. Enjoyed going inside an old caboose, seeing all of the detail in the models, and the outdoor garden railroad area (complete with a model steam engine that actually runs on steam). Our toddler son had so much to look at and enjoy! Admission was free, but donations are gladly accepted.

Loved the model railroad displays but wish they were open later than 2pm. And boy they are ready to leave at 2, at 5 till, they shut everything down. Kids wanted to climb into the Caboose but they had locked it at 1:50pm. So maybe they should report their hours as 1:45 instead? Just disappointing for little ones when you think you still have a few minutes to show them stuff. But older people running it so maybe they forget those sort of things.

What a fun place to go! It is an education as well as exciting as you follow trains from room to room through the highly detailed layout of Western Carolina mountains, towns, and then a depiction of Asheville/ Hendersonville train stations. The men are so gracious if you ask them questions about the realistic work of art. I loved it!
