Exceptional history museum of Hendersonville County area. The staff was very friendly during our visit as well as knowledgeable.
Thank you for preserving history!
Henderson Countys historic courthouse is definitely worth a visit. Beautifully restored, it now highlights displays of our local history. The gift shop sells local authors books & other gift-worthy items. Local government holds meetings in the building & there has even been the occasional Flat Rock Playhouse production in the historic courtroom. Dont miss Santa Clauss annual arrival the night after Thanksgiving when he invites parents to take pictures of their own children sharing their Christmas wishes with him. In the courtyard our local & national histories are prominently honored with stately memorial plaques. Henderson County & Hendersonville are keeping history alive & a vital part of our town.
I loved it. Very nice exhibition and we loved the George Washington presentation. Thanks for the memories.
Its a nice little look at railroads impact to this area. It also has a good war presentation with many displays and artifacts. Worth visiting for historical perspectives.
Wonderful history. Well put together, with allot of great information! Highly recommended!
It was worth the time to walk through. People are there to tell you about the history. Best of all it is free.
Heard great things about this place.. I want to take my family here soon. Will review when done!
This is a cool place. When you walk in dont get too intimidated by the guard. Yeah, shes an older lady, but she aint messing around. Im pretty sure she was a Tier One Operator at one time. Its self guided, great history experience.
Super nice and informative staff. Displays were interesting enough for the 6 yr old. Everything was very clean.
We visited the museum on Saturday, and were grateful to find out that the museum was open until 5pm. Unfortunately we were only able to do a partial tour. The museum was having trouble with the security system and they had to shut down early. We are looking forward to visiting it again some other time.
In the middle of down town and it has very interesting displays and many books about local history.
Very nice to place to visit and walk around...quaint.
Have only stopped in to use the restroom. But from what I did see of the place its where you can get lost in learning more about the past.
Dont overlook this little gem. You can spend 5 minutes or many hours as you wish. Self guided tours. Very well set up.
Accidentally went on a history tour when attempting to find a restroom and hide from the cold. Very cool experience and the ladies here were very kind and knowledgeable of the town history. You can skip the war stuff and get to the town history faster.
Wonderful place to visit to learn about the history of Hendersonville county. The gift shop has many books on sale by local authors and they try to have scheduled lectures by these authors from time to time. The museum is in the old city court house, so the building is a sight to see all by itself.
Arrived at 4 when they said they were open until 5 on Saturday, and they had closed an hour early. Just make sure they’re actually open when you go.
A free museum! Very well done with lots of exhibits. We actually walked through it twice and enjoyed both times through.
Good history of the town. Especially honors town members who have fought in war.
Has great exhibit of military facts, uniforms, fire arms from the Civil War thru Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
Must see for the history of Hendersonville, the history of the railroad and the residents who have fought in wars from revolutionary times to present day.
Old original historical landmark. Well maintained and has public historical tours. Has live music events out front and Christmas tree lighting.
Summer camps and Edneyville Ridges exhibit openings were great! Old time Christmas was fabulous as well. Bearcat brass band was awesome as always. It was a great day!
Great displays, dioramas, antiques . Really takes you back .
A very nice small town museum. Very friendly staff. A great and varied collection telling the history of the area. Worth a stop when youre in the area.
I thought it was very interesting and cool with rare antiques and a nice presentation of history. Also very friendly informative staff.
The diorama of the Saluda grade railroad is incredible. Lots and lots of photos and artifacts of the early years of Henderson County. Allow at least an hour, better 2.
Great collection, and super interesting.
Very good depictions of life in the county since the Revolutionary War
Was there for a mock trial competition. Neat old courthouse
Very nice..lots to learn
Wonderful Senior Citizen guide was sharp as a tack.
The lady there was the most entertaining guide!
This is my favorite museum in WNC. You can easily spend a few hours looking at the collection. I generally visit every quarter. The all volunteer staff is very friendly and helpful. Please consider leaving a donation when you visit.
Looking forward to returning to NC next summer
Very nice collection of Civil War stuff. Well displayed. Well done layout of the old Saluda grade railroad.
Enjoyed the apple festival!
Hidden gem. Great exhibits. Loads of info in every section. Very cool way to learn about locals.
Really interesting and the helpers were so knowledgeable.
The Heritage Museum in Hendersonville, North Carolina was a very insightful experience. The museum plays a large tribute to the town’s veterans and general history. There are multiple rooms dedicated to various eras in history. My favorite exhibit was of the wedding gown made of a Nazi parachute. At the end of the tour there was a beautiful quilt dedicated by a group of local women. The quilt depicted Hendersonville and its main attractions. It was one of the most beautiful intricate quilts I have ever seen. This tour was truly a treasure!
Very interesting! We enjoyed it.
