Beautiful wedding space and amazing historical home. So happy I had my wedding there, just beware that the communication is not great when planning your event. You must be persistent.
Great historical site. Lovely property and a very informative tour. Guide was very knowledgeable.

It was a beautiful place to have a wedding. My daughter was married on Sunday
Great historical. The tour guide was very informative.
Beautifully decorated, went to Frozen VIP experience while I wouldnt give the experience 5 stars due to it being cold and it was set in the outside pavilion. The kids wearing their costumes was moot since they needed their jackets on. But the setting was beautiful, the ladies working there were very nice and helpful. Christmas decorations were on point and the lake backdrop cant be beat.
Based on the website and the Facebook page and the reviews, I expected much more than I saw on my visit. The house has very little furniture and most of it is in the style of the original furniture and not original. Our tour guide was a teenager. She was knowledgeable but I was disappointed in her presentation. She talks so fast (like some young people) you can hardly understand her. Im a TN history buff and have visited many historic homes, but overall, I consider this to be a waste of time.
Love the open-air Songwriters Series.
Folk and Bluegrass Fest was amazing! Great music, food and drinks. Laid back with plenty of stuff for the kiddos. Just wish the house was open but just makes us want to go back for all the events!
I loved the tour and the stories the high school tour guide shared with such excitement. It was a very interesting house. I liked it better than the much more expensive tour of Belle Meade.
My brother got married here we rented the place for the night it was a wonderful beautiful place. I would recommend anyone who has a chance to stop by and check it out...
Beautiful, pastoral, and right near home....we went to a concert with out neighbors to hear the Nashville symphony and it was just a delightful evening. I will go back the next concert of interest is advertised. So nice to have these back yard gems!
Beautiful home and land with a guided tour. If you are into historic homes this is a must see. Looks mostly preserved with all original furniture.
Amazing facility, they went over and beyond to make the event special for the kids.
Beautiful place
Beautiful location, historic old plantation, and great view. Interesting story about the history of the oldest home in middle Tennessee.
Everything I expected it to be. Great music by the Nashville symphony on the grounds of the oldest home in middle Tennessee. My wife and I enjoyed it.
A treasure of early Tennessee and American history. The grounds are quiet and peaceful. The ones who work here are welcoming and knowledgeable. They are constantly researching and learning more to share with others and have scheduled events regularly. There are few of these treasures left. I highly recommend visiting.
Great place to learn colonial history and take the family
Not that interesting.
Love the scenery here. My husband and I went for their winter concert series. The live music in the house is amazing! Very intimate and fun. Great food and drinks that were provided. The 2 singer/songwriters that performed were 2 of the best I have heard in a long time. Hope to go back soon
We really enjoyed our tour. The young lady who was our guide was educated and personable. It was a very hot humid day and the temperature throughout was comfortable. It would not be ideal for anyone with physical handicap as it involves walking and climbing stairs. There were a few parts of the tour the guide simply pointed to and told what they were. Overall a good tour (around 45 min or so) if you are interested in history. I had a Groupon so the price was fair.
A fascinating trip through a house that was built when America was only 8 years old. Youll love it!
We visited Historic Rock Castle this past weekend. If you love and appreciate true History, this is a real gem to attend. Our guide, Sam, did an excellent job giving us a tour of the home and its history. Additionally, Sam doesnt push any narrative or agenda as you often see today when so many try to erase or change historical events and facts. Our families both appreciated him and the job he does. His passion shows. The history of this home, Daniel Smith and all he contributed to the area is amazing. He was a mover and shaker in his day.
Very beautiful and the old family grave yard is cool but wouldnt 3vxactly call it a castle. More like a old plantation house is what it looks like but stunning. If you like history a must see.
Great place for private tours or parties. My daughters Girl Scouts troop had there trunk or treat there this year it was excellent. The grounds are well kept and beautiful if you love history and want to know more about our local community it is a great stop!!!
If you like history, you shouldgo
Very nice and interesting.
Our 2nd annual Easter egg hunt. Always a great time. Fun. Food. Games.
Rockcastle is a great place to have weddings. I have photographed weddings here and the staff is super friendly and very helpful and the grounds are beautiful. The out door wooded ceremony location is quite lovely. highly recommended
This is such a cool spot. We went there for a songwriters Guild. They had all sorts of activities for the kids and people brought their blankets and chairs and sit around and listen to songwriters sing their music. It was really cool to hear new music while the kids had a blast on all the blow up things.
Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
Great! Wedding in the family.
So pretty and interesting...easy to go there!
Came here for the songwriters show on 7-20-19. It was great.
Love this place. Very historic.
Enjoyed my visit here although we showed up close to closing time and couldnt do the tour we still enjoyed to short visit and the young man in the visitor was very knowledgeable and very informative about the locations history and origin. Will definitely be back to take the tour and explore the nature trails.
A ton of history sounds this place and the view/water is amazing. I went when their was Yoga on the water (SUP - stand up paddleboard) going on and that was extremely interesting. The staff is also very inviting, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful about tours and use of the space they have available.
We had an excellent experience touring this historic home. The tour guide was friendly, personable, entertaining, and extremely knowledgeable.
Very nice grounds, right by the lake. Great picnic/music spot. In touring the house, our guide Nichole (?) was so personable and knowledgeable. Looking forward to going back for the summer music series in August.
The home of the man who named Tennessee. Very historic and informative. Our host was great.
I just love history and visiting historic places. This place was awesome and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
We were pleasantly surlrised as we had a very nice guided tour through the house Sunday afternoon. We ignored the warning that the Visitors Center would be closed Sunday and tours require 24 hour notice. The house and some furnishings have survived over 200 years!
Very good beautiful weather beautiful music
Went on a field trip with my daughter. It was informative. They had a lot of interesting demonstrations from that time period. It was a good day.
Fun evening and great music
The grounds are very nice and the house is a treasure. The young girl that was our tour guide was inept at best. She was nice, but she had very limited knowledge about the house, the artifacts, history of the home and our country. E.G. The map in the entry hall only goes to the Mississippi because we hadnt figured out how to cross it yet...so we crossed the Atlantic, but the Mississippi had us stumped.
Stunning site. Our guide, Sam, was very knowledgeable, polite and specially careful to give some ethics to the children. A hidden treasure if youre a history lover
Love the summer songwriters series
Fun, historical tour.
Lots of History nice look at what life was like back then
Great place to take kids to explore, and for adults to learn a little history about the area.
Wanted it to be cool, but, meh - not a castle and really not all that exciting. The weird, long drive through a random Hendersonville neighborhood to get to the elusive HOUSE should have been a red flag. Nobody in the parking lot when we arrived and no others while we “toured” the house goes to show how popular it is. The tour is only of the house - nothing else. The tour guide was friendly, but was confusing with all the family stories and a lot of the dialogue centered around Andrew Jackson - maybe we should have gone to The Hermitage instead? We asked a lot of questions, but the guide seemed to only have limited/specific knowledge memorized, so our questions didn’t go very far. The house itself isn’t in great condition - yes it’s old, but do dust and cobwebs need to be kept as historical artifacts? There are a few historical pieces of furniture in the house that are cool - but don’t even think about touching anything, or you will be chastised. Not much more to see...The “gift shop” is literally a closet with a few irrelevant trinkets - we didn’t bother to walk up the hill to the graveyard. Not sure why people choose to have wedding photos here - unless they like their photos to have a background of an old, sinking, creepy, crooked box-shaped house on the edge of a man-made swamp...
Great historical place!!!
Excellent tour guides, fascinating history, grounds are beautiful. I learned more about TN history in an hour that I had my entire life. Well worth the cost.
Love learning about the history of the area
Great views if the lake, historic home and excellent events
This is a beautiful place. this is where I have my engagement photos done.
Awesome time seeing the Nashville Symphony here.
So much history it very reasonable and educational.
Sam did a great job on the tour!! It was very interesting
Really cool tour, I love learning about these kind of places. The gift shop was good too.
Went to a wedding at this venue, location is BEAUTIFUL!!
This place is beautiful and they do a ton of community events.
Well maintained 200+ year old historic home.
Great place for an outdoor venue. The tour of the estate is also interesting.
The ground are really nice; however, the man working was a bit rude. It could have been just one of those days for him??
Nice place, great event
