Schaars Bluff Trail was a perfect experience today. The paved trail was very well maintained and easy to walk on. The native wild flowers and plant growth along the path had been neatly mowed. The trees were beautiful and the bridge overlooks made it easy to see the full palette of greenery in the valleys below. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and I would 100% recommend the trail.

Beautiful sunsets with nice areas to lie down. Part if the trail goes along the bluffs which makes a nice scenic trail. Plenty of parking as well. Electric parking available.

A beautiful place to visit! Miles of trails for walking, hiking, and biking. Not a ton of great views of Spring Lake, but there are a few overhangs that show you the true beauty of the place. Theres also a playground and sand volleyball courts. Theres plenty of tables, barbeque grills, and picnic pavilions in and around the visitor center. (The visit center building itself is currently closed during the pandemic.)

Amazing view and close by the cities. If you only have 1 hour you can definitely get to most of the scenic views, like the ones in the photos.

Best park in Dakota County...maybe even the Twin Cities! The trails along the bluff are spectacular. Who knew there were so many awesome cliffs and rocks to climb around and explore!

Unique and beautiful along the river. Listening to the birds on the river in the morning is wonderful (bring binoculars). Located up on the bluffs, its still at a distance and few (or none?) trails to riverside. For bikers: there is some elevation and slopes. They have both paved trail for bikes (more than 4 miles) and walking trails in the prairie and woods. Bathrooms are nearby and plenty of pickenick tables, fire pits, grills, even tools and tire pump for bikers. Free drinking water and I saw an electrical outlet at the picnic grounds. Bring your kids theres a large playground and volleyball area (careful along the bluffs, there are real cliffs) . The number of animals and birds I saw in just a couple hours was vast I saw pheasant, Turkey, hawks, geese, woodpeckers, and many more variety on the river.

Nice playground for kids! Piknik tables and many grills for cooking! Pavilions and bon fire pits! Great Views!! Highly Recommend!! Stay a Couple Hours or All Day!!! A Little Windy but Thats Expected Being So Close to the Mississippi River!!

Very pretty area with a nice public rest facility. The building is well designed and has a large conference/party room available to rent. Its clean and fairly modern and staffed with pleasant folks. Down the road youll find picnic areas and trails to hike. Refreshing.

Found the park through the City Pages and was definitely not disappointed. Beautiful bluffs and plenty of hiking trails.

Views, eagles, and even slight ruins. The Gathering Center has nice year-round heated (!) bathrooms, whose plumbing is sustainably operated with rainwater gathered from the roof.

Date of Visit: 4/20/19 - Breathtaking views! Beautiful park area. Took us a bit to find the hiking trails, but did explore plenty of paved trails in the process.

Nice bathroom facilities with vending machine. Large grounds. Be prepared to walk. Nothing is close to each other.

Great clean well maintained park. We had a family get together there last fall and it worked out perfect! No complaints.

A great place to go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. The cc trails are well-groomed and you can pay for a pass to ski. Keep an eye out for wolf tracks and other signs of wildlife.

Schaars Bluff features a beginner to moderate level Nordic Ski trail with beautiful views over the Mississippi. I love skiing this trail at sunset on these cold evenings. The panorama is just breathtaking.

I run the trails here quite often. Have been going here since I was a kid. Nice bike trails, nice through the woods trails, that are great to run/walk following the Rocky cliffs of the river.

Such a beautiful new bike trail - dont miss trying this out this summer!! There is no sign posted by the turn off on Fahey so Im not sure how you would know about this place unless you read about it before hand. We did the 10 miles along the river to Hastings (had a bite there) and back and couldnt believe the gorgeous way that the trail curves, rolls up and down, right along the river with a variety of informational look outs. Many raptors, indigo buntings, finches and wild flowers all along the way. Glorious and we are so lucky to live in this state. Thank you to the crew who made this possible. We give it a big thumbs up!!

A hidden gem along the Mississippi! Lots of awesome trails with a nice mix of prairie grass and forests! The views are spectacular too!

There are a lot of paved paths and grass paths to explore. Perfect for dogs on a leash. Nice clean bathrooms. Beautiful flowers abound!

Just went to an event at one of the picnic shelters recently but have enjoyed both the trails and the Gathering Center in the past.

Spring Lake Park (Schaar’s Bluff) has over six miles of paved trails (and it also is projected to connect up with the rest of the Mississippi River Trail). The trails don’t have much shade during the afternoon, but they’re beautiful regardless. There are also picnic areas and clean restrooms.
