Amazing in every sense of the word. So much to do and the kids are kids again and parents have a sweet place to hang out or join the fun. Really this places tries harder and harder to please its patrons. I like it and wish we lived nearby, seriously, we had a blast with the games and creative space for all. Very few places stand out like this one does.
A decent and active playground. It could be better if authorities could enforce park rules, specifically the No Pets rule. As usual, some people think the rules do not apply to them, and that its okay for their pets to treat childrens playgrounds as animal toilets.
First time going there with my family.Enjoyed it immensely. Only issue was the bathrooms were locked and no outside lights otherwise we really had fun..
This park is affectionately known as Rainbow Park. You can see why as you enter the park under rainbows. My grands love coming here every year when they visit. You meet great people, i.e., parents, grandparents, etc., and the kids meet great other kids. I love that it is a place where people of all nationalities, races, religious affiliations, and backgrounds come together and they all have a good time with each other. Its a warm and inviting place where you can feel good about bringing the kids. You also can see that the grounds are well manicured, although the bathrooms need to be maintained during the day. However, great effort is made to keep the childrens play equipment repaired and updated.
This place is great! Its huge and its handicap accessible, including a wheelchair swing! It has multiple tactical play pieces and a few mommy and me swings as well, where you can sit and swing safely with your kids. It has multiple imagination stations where kids can improve their imaginative and creative side. And in the summer they have a splash pad for the kids (and adults) to play on. Being an aunt and a cousin, i love going to this place.
This place used to be amazing, but age and lack of maintenance is taking a toll. There used to be a firehouse for the kids (which is completely missing now), and there are places where you walk that make music/sounds, but many are broken and not working now. There was a really nice tile block display where tiles no longer are displayed, probably having fallen off over time. The rubber that covers the flat surfaces is cracking and worn.Highlights here include activities for those restricted by wheelchairs, which is super cool, and the slides and swings still function. Overall, this place needs an infusion of maintenance funds and/or care. When this park was initially constructed, it blew my mind.
This place is amazing! My 16 year old finally got to enjoy a swing! He was so happy. Just remember to get the key, there is a number at the front gate to call, they were really nice and there in no time to help us. We were there late on a Saturday and they still showed up so we could enjoy the swing. My son uses a wheel chair and then spent the day going around the whole place. IT has so much to do and so many size play-sets so all can enjoy safely. We wish our city had this, all places should have inclusive parks, people of all abilities should be allowed safe fun.
My daughter loves this playground. Its full of a variety of great equipment and she always has a blast. There is more accessible playground equipment here than Ive seen anywhere else, including a swing designed to accommodate wheelchairs. Do note- restrooms are closed from approximately mid fall to mid spring. There are portable restrooms on site the rest of the year.
A great place for kids. Lots of playground equipment. You can ride rides bikes and other things. It has restrooms and a pavilion. Place is clean and well kept. My grandsons birthday party was there. Adults and kids had fun. Plenty of parking. Easy access.
This place is very good to take your family. Kids can have fun while parents sit under a pavillion and have a picnic.
Very well maintained and taken care of! Excellent place, even for the younger kids! They have all kinds of swings...baby swings, child swings, handicapped swings, even a swing where the child and an adult can swing together! A great place to take the family :)
Amazing place for the kids. The playground is set up for age appropriate activities. The only downfall is the small group of lost in the sauce parents that dont watch their kids because they are watching their phone screens instead.
This playground has everything from bike trails to slides to swings for all ages of children. Harrisonburg has a multitude of awesome playgrounds but this one is #2 on our list!
An excellent park with plenty of things for kids of all ages to do. There are separate play areas for smaller kids and toddlers and for the older children. The toddler playground has a nice rubber surface to prevent falling injuries. The place was created to allow for disabled children to be able to play, so plenty of access for anyone. My children love it here, they think its the best park in Harrisonburg, and so do I!
One of my favorite parks in harrisonburg!! The park is a decent size has 2 different playground structures . one for smaller children and another for kids 5-12 years of age. They have a bike path for kids to ride their bikes. Also a decent amount of chairs and tables to sit. ( 2 shaded areas) there is emough space to rent the park out for birthday parties . (×× also accessible( they have a swing) one of the things that make this park great is the rainbow colors and they have a padded flooring all around the play area .
This was a great experience for children. They had so much fun. Intended to just stop by and ended up staying 2 hours.
My son loves this park so much that he calls it HIS PARK!
My girls love this park! Lots of new improvements and is much safer. The bathrooms are closed for the winter and porta potty IS DISGUSTING.
Awesome playground for kids up to 12 years old.
A very lovely park! A great place to take kids. Everyone there is always very friendly, and you can tell the community takes great care of it. The best thing is that the park is handicap accessible! Such an awesome place to visit.
A playground like no other. So much enjoyment for kids!
This is a fantastic pit stop for families traveling along the I81 corridor! A wonderful, accessible playground....ramps designed for wheelchair access are also easy for pushing strollers. Climbing structures, swings, hammock, picnic pavilion, and a bike path. Sometimes in the summer months the park is staffed and small (very small) bikes are brought out for kids to ride. Other times we bring our own. Its not a huge playground but lots of fun and a great place to stretch legs on a long drive. Bathrooms have large changing tables--suitable for changing an adult I imagine. Be aware that restrooms and water fountain are closed during winter months. There is a port a potty year round.
My nephews love this park! Great place to spend time with kiddos!
Great place for children to play. As to date had issue last time I had my grandson there, the restrooms were closed.
Fun playground. Lots of play structures for a variety of ages of kids!
Fun colorful play park for kids of all ages.
Fun for kids and adults.
Its an amazing park
This playground is amazing. They have 2 different areas depending on your childs age group, a bike track, and handicap accessible areas like a special swing that can accommodate a wheelchair! It really is a dream come true.
Well thought out, very interactive, water fountains available all over for sunny days. Family restrooms with multiple changing tables. This place was really well thought out.
Absolutely wonderful playground. If you have friends with children with disabilities, especially who are wheel chair bound there are swings that can hold a whole wheel chair and the larger playground has a ramp at ground level to help be inclusive. Very well kept and lots of shade. Also several covered picnic areas. I appreciate that all bathroom stalls are also big enough for a parent and child to fit into. Enjoy!
We love this place! I stop by here regularly with my son to burn off energy after daycare. There are always fun kids ready to make friends, a fun loop to ride a bike or scooter on, and plenty of space for parents to move around as well.
Beautiful playground and nice bathrooms! Great spot to take a break and let the kids blow off steam!
Lots to do for the little ones to stay busy and active.
Very nicely done playground where you can relax a bit while your kids spend their energy at play.
Super kid friendly
The park is very up to date with playground equipment, padded surface on ground throughout the park, unique n fun equipment the kids use n climb on for hours of play. Theres an area just for the kids to ride their own bikes or scooters around a painted track n my favorite part is they have wheelchair accessible swings for the handicapped! Its wonderful for all ages for a day of fun outside.
Very nice play ground for the kids . Fun for them:)
Very nice park. Well maintained. Many toys and playareas. Clean restrooms. Do not forget to bring your kids bicycle or scooter.
Amazing playground for a variety of ages and abilities. Clean bathrooms, lots of picnic tables and shade.
Excellent place to go with my granddaughter.
One of the best parks in Harrisonburg for kids. Its paved for riding bikes, but the play area has rubberized matting to help in case of falls. I personally think that they should open the bathrooms earlier in the spring.
Absolutely wonderful, accessible playground. We love going here!
Beautiful, colorful, lots of learning activity for kids. Mine love ice cream shop & train sound music makers.
Such a nice playground for kiddos. I loved seeing people from different walks of life and demographics there. It is nice to watch the innocence of children as they play with each other. One thing I have noticed occasionally is that some parents do not do the best job keeping up with their children. One day someones 1 or 2 year old boy was chilling with my kiddo and I for about 15 minutes before his dad came looking for him. So the park is awesome but parents step up your game!
Clean lots of fun kids activities
This place is so colorful and fun! Appreciated they had a Portapotty and working fountain even though the public restrooms arent open yet.
Awesome free park for the kiddos. Offers a variety of fun for all age groups. Bring your bike, scooter, or skateboard and enjoy the roads and paths within the playground. Nice picnic shelter and other coverings. Would like to see some more shaded areas for adults to stay out of the sun on hot hot summer days. But other than that, this place is a pleasant surprise for visitors and people new to the valley.
Nice place for children to play, could use just a little tlc.
We love this playground! Such a fun place to take the kids
Great park for kids especially younger ones as there is alot for them to do and easy to keep an eye on them.
One of my familys favorite parks to visit!
All this park needs is a splash pad/park or misters to keep cool.
Open 8am to dusk, so Googles reported hours may vary (as of May 2018). Great park for all ages. Soft squishy flooring under all the climbing structures. Some shade and some sun spots.
2 yr. Old Grandson & I are here at least once a week! His favorite. Been taking him here since he was crawling. Well organized in age appropriate sections. Clean. Park Attendant is the most kind, attentive man youll meet. Care goes into the design, and accommodations for those who are physically challenged. Most parents/caretakers are considerate ands manage their Children. Restrooms kept up. Very Colorful and stimulating for small children. Lots of Shade Canopies and tables to sit for lunch. Small training bikes, balls available for Kids to use while there. Chalkboard to create on. Maintenance upkeep well done. Only 1 concern: the largest Slide has several openings way up high that could be potentially dangerous even to bigger children. Still or favorite playground!
Well built play ground with plenty to do for ages up to 12, and those young at heart!
Very nice playground for the kids, restrooms was nice, alot of differ playsets.
A few updates this year with some new equipment added, well maintained best park in the City
Kid and family friendly for everyone.
The playground is wonderful and the location is great if you want to get something to eat after you leave and you have plenty of room to park your vehicle and there is a no dog policy
Very cute and well maintained. My kids really enjoyed it
Such a special place for all
Beautiful play area with options for all ages.
My chirldens favorite park... well kept and maintained. Grounds staff is kind and welcoming.
My kids love this park. It is a wonderful place to play!
My grandchildren love the park!
Lovely shade on hot day while the children play.
What a gem of a playground. Definitely worth a visit for your little one.
Live this place, safe for children because most of the place made out of plastic so no chance for splinters or falling to hard floor.
One of the best playgrounds in the area. Son loves it!
Great place to take the kids.
Besides the name that is a little over selling... Its really a perfect nice playground
Beautiful place for kids and adults
Great park for kids I wish there was more like it and with water fountain so kids can run and play with water .
Amazing playground. Well maintained facilities, rubberized flooring to keep children safe, play areas seperated by age groups. Lots of options for the kids to play with. Many nearby benches and shaded areas available for parents.
Cute playground for the kids..separated by age group
Nice clean playground. Plenty of different types of equipment for the kids to play with. They also have multiple apparatuss for special needs kids, And kids of all ages. Unfortunately the restrooms and fountains are unavailable from October to middle of April for some reason. This was a mild inconvenience for our visit. But still a great park
Great place to take the kids
Safe fot the kids and very clean
We make sure to come here every time we visit my dad in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Ive taken my kids since they were 2 (theyre 6 &8 now) and my sisters who are 14 and 10 and still enjoy it even though they live right nearby. Weve been when its 10 degrees out and also in the summer when its 90 and its always fantastic. In the summer, they have water fountains that spray around so that you can cool off. In the Winter, its just a fantastic playground. I also love that it is a handicap accessible playground so all kids can enjoy it. They have a wheelchair accessible swing that I believe is pretty rare. I still have never seen one anywhere else. There are restrooms that are open most of the year but they are closed in the middle of the Winter.
The best playground in town. Can be busy at times.
Very nice for kids...we enjoyed all!
Amazing park for kids. Two sections; 2-5 and 6-12. Rubber flooring over most parts. Swings and many slides. Clean restrooms and lots of shade for hot days. Spent a few hours hear with the kids. Best part of our day.
My 2 year old loved it!!! Very nice playground.
A small but a very clean playground with a lot of good areas for kids to play. One big advantage is the fact that most surfaces are artificially covered or paved thereby limiting the possibility of children getting dirty. Kudos to the City of Harrisonburg for the good care and maintenance.
AWESOME PLAYGROUND!!! My boys had a blast. Hours of entertainment!!!
Although this lovely playground has some wear and tear, it is still a fantastic place to bring smaller kids to play and be creative. There is lots of parking, restrooms, shade, and area to picnic or party, and a variety of play sets for kids small to large. There is no sandbox and no water feature. It is very close to Highway 81, so it is a helpful pit stop for travelers with children who need a break from the road to stretch their legs :-)
We love this place our child spends hours playing here
Fun park that the kids love going to when were in the area. Weve been going there for 3-4 years and theres enough for a 3 year old all the way to our 10 year old to do. Go ahead and let them bring their (non-motorized) scooters, as there is a small track for them tho scoot on. But they dont allow pets.
We stopped by on our way from Maine to FL for a much needed leg stretch for our 3-year-old (and us, its a long drive!). The playground itself is amazing; there are so many different little unique areas for kids to play, exercising both their bodies and their imaginations. I especially liked the music scape! Not only that, the playground is engineered to be wheelchair friendly and accessible for disabled kids of all ages, including a wheelchair friendly swing! However, in order to make it wheelchair accessible they had to pave over most of the ground and pathways between playscapes. While I understand the need to pave to make it wheelchair accessible, they went a little overboard with the concrete, paving quite a bit more than necessary. Additionally, they added a huge, paved parking lot. The end result is a bit clinical and cold. I left feeling a bit sad for the natural elements that could have been preserved and the environmental impact this will have, as well as the missed opportunity to show kids ways to live a bit more environmentally friendly and still be open and accessible to our disabled.
The kids had a blast. There were even balls provided by the park. All kids love ball games! We liked the roadway, especially because a nice person brought their childs Jeep to share.
This park is very kid friendly
