Overall a beautiful park with lots of open space for your dog to run. The only issue I have is the limited seating. Especially because of covid no one wants to share a bench anymore. If you are unlucky and arrive during a busier time be prepared to stand or sit in the grass. Water is easily accessible for your pup which is great. I do wish people would clean up after their pets a little more often, however that is not on the park just the owners.
Great park w/fenced-in area for dogs. Not too crowded.
Large, open, and clean area for large and small dogs to run and socialize. There is a smaller area for small dogs to have a place of their own. Running water was accessible for dogs to drink or to wash them down when leaving.
Open places with free range squirels. GreT place to walk the dog or your squirrel.
Surprise - only 2 squirrels spotted in a place called squirrel ridge! Nice fields though.
Clean, huge, and lots of shade! Water available and a few tubs/pools that can be filled as well as buckets. Everyone Ive met has been super friendly, as have the dogs.
Definitely a great doggie park! Theo enjoyed his time with all the rest of the doggies. The park has separate sections for small and large dogs. The small area being really small, but seems adequate. The large dog area being tremendous, great for bigger breeds. Also two entrance ways on opposite ends for easy access.Three little baby pools for your puppy to cool down in. Drawback is that they serve as drinking too. Dog bowls should definitely be something to add, but there is a hose that you can use for clean water. There’s also a giant puddle in the back of the park that seems to be a lot of fun for them. The park itself seems pretty well maintained. During our visit it seemed that everyone is pretty on top of their puppies. Entrance way and some areas are pretty muddy, bring towels for your puppy before getting in the car. There were a lot of dogs for Theo to play with and the crowd seemed to be a younger group. It was a great experience and will be back.
Been coming for a while(2.5 yrs). Ive only really been to the dog park portion. Probably the best free dog park in Gainesville. Good population, good size, and reasonable amenities. When it rains, be sure to bring a towel, because your dog, if it likes water, will go into the retention pond or will find mud puddles. Theres a large dog park, and a small dog park. The small dog park has more shade, but less space. As opposed to the large dog park with adequate shade and more room. Large dog park has two tables and three benches(one with a roof). Small has one table. Friendly people for the most part. Maintained well. If I were to add one thing, it would be a latrine. People stay at the park for over an hour, and might cut their time short for a bathroom break. Would definitely recommend for visitors as well as residents
A great place to run around and take your dog.
Nice park, clean and maintained.
Free....its big enough to let your dog run. Never closes
This place is amazing to bring your dog if you live in Gainesville.
So expansive and so clean.
Great place for dogs! There is a large fenced dog park that has a lot of benches to sit at while you watch your dog. There are tons of trash cans in the area.Next to the large dog park, there is another section reserved for smaller dogs or puppies. With the amount of dogs that go to this park, it’s relatively clean although there might be spots where dogs made a mess and their owners didn’t know about it.When it rains this place gets really smelly. The water piles up in puddles and while dogs do like to play in it, some dogs pee in these puddles so I wouldn’t let your dog drink or play in it.
Great place to bring your dog
Great place to bring your dog. Enjoyed it and dog did too. Lots of open space. Some mud puddles so watch out. One dog got out, but doesnt happen often.
All around great dog park.Small dog area and large dog area have shaded places to sit and water hose for drinking or cleaning off.The large dog area is very spacious. There is a large reservoir that fills up with water in the rainy months so be sure to bring some towels.Vets in town have said this is a common place for hookworms (probably like most other dog parks I’d imagine) so please please please pick up after your dog to keep from spreading them in the community!
I really like bringing my fur baby here. I have also met some great hoomans. The down side is that owners allow their pets to dig. Please stop them or fill in the holes. I not only worry about my boy breading a leg but not all owners are young. I am older and if I step in one of these holes it could be a disaster. Please be responsible and keep this park safe for all.
Large park with off-site areas for small and large dogs. The grass in most areas is completely ripped up or dying, and when the wind blows through there are often dust devils that get whipped up. Otherwise it is mostly clean and the crowd is often kind and considerate, but they dont always pick up after their pets.
The park has two very large lawns, the first one of which is often used for friendly games. There are also two enclosed spaces where dogs can go free, one for smaller ones, and one for bigger ones. There is a hint of an upper middle class, tofu appreciating atmosphere, but there are very nice and warmer people. Behind the park is a beautiful dirt road with few cars. The trees form a beautiful and moving living vault over the road
Nice park with plenty of space for dogs to run around in. Has watering station and pet waste bags. Also many shaded areas and places to sit for the humans.
This dog park is amazing! Highly recommended with a huge big dog area with wading pools and a hose for water play. It also has a separate small dog area which is still super large and shady. I was totally impressed and wish they had something like this I WV where I live.
Great spacious park, mainly used for owners to bring their dogs which is great! From my experience, all owners here have been very courteous and pick up after their furry friends. Dogs here have a blast and its great for them to meet other dogs. This place could definitely look a bit prettier and improve the amenities, but I was still happy with the place.
Great dog park and perfect place to clear your mind.
Quiet and serene in the section I was in. Lots of people with pets and some with children (or both).
Very nice separate small dog of leash area.
A little muddy sometimes and people sometimes miss anything pile or two but overall nice. Big area for the dogs and shade in places to cool off
My dog loves to run till she drops and this is the only place with enough room for her and her newfound friends to do just that! Water is available, bring a bowl.
Great Park with alot of space for animals to play.
My dogs love coming here. Especially since they have a small dogs park
A great place to let your dog run and meet other dogs.
So pretty, with soccer field and dog park too.
LOTS of dogs there this afternoon - at some points nearly 10 - but they got along. Some owners werent paying attention to clean up after their dogs. Always annoying to those who may not see the mess and walk through it. Plenty of room for dogs to run, Chase, fetch, and just sniff. Some benches scattered under nice shade trees. Water bucket and hose, but hose leaks. Avoid the spurt. Nice place.
Wonderful place. Big area thats fenced in for your dog. Its absolutely free. Like any place like this the entire experience can be made or broken by who else shows up. Luckily weve run into mostly nice people and dogs. If youre dog doesnt like other dogs or bites, dont bring them.
My sister, along with many others were victims of homicide. They have memorials inside the park. Its a nice place to reflect on life.
The park is great except one thing. There is no where to sit in the small dog park. There’s one picnic table but it’s in the shade and the most buggy area. There needs to be benches put in near the middle or front. No where to sit at all.
Good place to take a dog, a s meet nice people.
Squirrel Ridge is the perfect place to take your dog. A large, fenced in area lets your dog run freely with others, and there are shaded areas/benches for you to enjoy while your dog is playing.
It is a great place to bring you dog, it js wide an open, perfect for dogs who love to run and fetch.
Love that they have a place to wash your dogs off after they run through the mud! My dogs love it here!
I have been here before in the evenings and am here now with my dog, along with plenty of other people and their dogs. While 7 pm might be the official closing time, and that would make sense during the winter months, that closing time is obviously not being enforced by anyone tonight. I recently wanted to come here with my dog in the evening and when I saw the closing time listed here, I changed my plans. Tonight I went with my gut feeling that they would actually be open, intending at the very least to check it out, and so we are here now, after 7 pm.
Extremely progressive dog park. I dont worry about bringing my bully breed there at all
Very nice dog park
Took my dog there for the first time yesterday and we had a blast. About every 10 feet there was a tennis ball and he was having a great time knee throwing them and him getting them. He also interacted with about five other dogs, it was a good experience.
Awesome park. It has a great dog park with a big dog and small dog section. Most dogs are very well behaved and the people that bring them are attentive. It also has a big open field that people play soccer and rugby on. Great place to relax.
Took my dog here and absolutely loved it. There is a huge off leash dog area with a hose, benches, picnic tables, and tress giving plenty of shade.
Great place for my boy. Usually a 5+ dogs in the evening when its cooler. Theres also a separate area for smaller dogs. Water hoses and kiddie pools for when your fur-baby gets hot. Shady seating available.
I love this park. There are usually tons of people there with their dogs! They have a small dog park and a little dog park, which are right next to one another. Which is great bc I have two dogs. One large and one small so its easy to watch one while Im in the others play area. Usually all the dogs there are friendly, rarely do I see any fight. They also have pools and water stations, so if your dog loves water theyll love this place!
Nice park. Very well maintained. Lots of happy dogs and companion humans.
This park should have a sign that reads: Owners should be held accountable for bringing aggressive dogs to this park! On Friday Dec. 1st two greyhound dogs attacked my smaller dog. The owners are not taking responsibility and fled the scene. My dog is currently in critical condition. Hes been in the emergency room for the past three days and in a full body cast. If anyone was at this park Friday around 11:30 am or know anyone who took their greyhounds please help!
I love that park peaceful
It gets a bit too crazy during peak hours. I take my horse to North East mostly as its nicer and more mellow, we only go to squirrel ridge when we are trying to pick up chicks.
Great place for dogs to play.
Really nice dog park!
Beautiful!! Well kept grounds, amazing shade trees and Rugby game was lively! Very easy to find and ample free parking!
Lots of space to run around, a hose, and water buckets!
I never knew this park existed for dogs, it awesome!! My dog loved it there, they have 2 parks o e for small dogs which you can unleashed them and the bigger dogs. They have a doggie pool too!!!
Nice, big dog park with pools and water buckets. Great please to let your dog run free
Maybe im blind but I think the little dog park was open it was missing a wall to box it in. If you are going to the big park bring a chair or a towel to sit on. Also keep your leash on hand at all times some dogs dont play too nicely.
Its the best dog park in Gainesville, they need to provide more poop bags though.
Come here primarily for the dog park. If you have a big dog this place is phenomenal for having your dog run their legs out. Only issue I have is the poop problem. There are usually some piles left by inconsiderate owners. Not the parks fault but if you have a dog that has...the taste for that you probably would have to watch them more to make sure they dont eat and get viruses/worms.
Great open space
After being in the car for 6 hours we went here to give our two dogs a place to run around and get their energy out. This place is huge. Maybe thats because we are from Houston and the city has smaller dog parks, but this area was great. No chemical infused water for them to splash in, just all natural trees grass and dirt. They have two hoses to wash the dogs off afterwards.
A good place for big and small dogs, if they are nice to other dogs and everybody (regardless of race). This park is used by everyone. It has a large field to play sports of any type on. It has its peaceful spots as well.
I go mainly because of the dog park. Ive been four or five times and there have always been quite a few dogs in the large dog area and it is very large. The small dog area has rarely had dogs.
Very nice dog park.great atmosphere to.
Great park for walking but dog n playing pokemon go n stuff
Nice open place to go to jog or play some ultimate Frisbee. They have a HUGE dog park with a smaller section for puppies. Awesome place to just be outside.
Got dogs? This is a great place to let em run!
Nice park. Big
Childs play area is fenced off but other than that a beautiful park
Great place to train my Board and trains. The ruff and roundly players are great distractions for the animals in my care. As a professional dog trainer I dont do dog parks. Which is why I built one on my property and offer safe SOCIALIZATION by appt only. We teach clients how to read their dogs body language and others. Hopefully the world will spread and less fight if any will happen at dog parks. I wish they could hire someone to run pack SOCIALIZATION out there. I have heard of so many dog fights and attacks happening there.
Our go to place. Our dog is not the most playful one, but theres ample space for him to avoid the other dogs when he wants to... most owners are very responsible and pick up after their dogs. Its not perfect!
Aside from some people bringing dogs that can be a little rough, it is a wonderful place to bring your pup! Especially early mornings or after 6pm.
Very cool public park. Its very well maintained. It gets muddy after a rain, but its a very good park with a nice group of dogs. Plenty of parking too.
Nice dog park. Completely contained. Dont ignore your dog. Some dogs are not well controlled or behaved.
Very fun park for the dog.
Nice to get out and socialize, let dogs socialize.
Good dog park. Excellent mud holes and giant puddles after it rains to let the furry kids splash and play. Hose available to rinse them off afterwards. Great fun for everyone.
I decided to visit this park with my pups while in Gainesville for a couple of days. This place is not great, which is too bad because it has so much potential. It is a very large area but the entrances to the big dog and small dog areas are in opposite corners of the park. As a result most people just use the big dog side. One of the biggest issues I had with the the park is that the put the water spickets and kiddie pools in areas with no grass. This basically turns that area into a mud pit. And even if you keep the ground dry when your pup gets out of the pool they are going to get covered in dirt.Another unfortunate aspect of this park is it seems that many people dont cleanup after their dogs. This happens at almost all dog parks at some point but it seemed to be a particularly bad problem here. This is an easy way to get your dog sick if another dog leaves infected droppings behind.I do not live in Gainesville, but even if I did, I would not go back.
Great spot for the ones who steal our girls
Its a great place to take your dog, in fact its one of the few places in Gainesville you can take your dog off leash. Its very community supported by regulars. So keep in mind that you should do your part to help out with this dog community
I like this park, but the parking lot is always muddy and disgusting.
Great dpg park
A great place to bring your dog. People also play soccer and other field sport.
Small dog park attached. Nice people generally. The only place for any pooch to see and be seen.
Clean park with lots of options. Plenty of open areas for games or sports. Pleasant shaded areas for a quiet picnic or to sit and watch the squirrels. There is even a separate dog park in the back.
Fantastic field and playground for kids. Dog park in the back for animal lovers. But most importantly theyre multiple Pokestops and THREE gyms in close proximity.
I take my dog here once a week, nice open area and plenty of space for dogs to run. Just make sure your dogs gets along with others.
Great place for dogs. It has a large and small pet areas. There was a lot of space for dogs to run around Chase balls and play in the pool.
