Excellent trail system for beginners and intermediate rider levels. They can get long if you do not have enough physical endurance, but you can ride them all if you have been riding other mountain bike trails in the area. The scenery is BEAUTIFUL and you will feel isolated in some parts of the trails. Some climbs are challenging and longer than in other trail systems in the area, which is a great challenge and change if you have been riding Blankets Creek or Olde Rope for a while. The descents are doable and a lot of fun. I wish there would be more trail signs for new riders (but I am sure that it would be easy to get by if you ride them a lot). The trails are bi-directional (no changes in the direction by days), so be careful on the descents because up-hill riders have the right-of-way. Be prepared to pay the parking fee ($5 at the time of my visit). Make yourself familiar with each trailhead and their distances before ripping them (take a picture of the trail map or have a riding plan using the sorba website) because some trail intersections can be confusing if it is your first time.
Nice natural beginner trails. Some sections require an intermediate level of fitness. Nothing very interesting to ride. Notches cut in roots to make trials easier. No jumps, few natural berms, no man made berms, nothing for intermediate riders to advance skills. Other trails in the Atlanta metro area offer much more in the way of intermediate and advanced features. Its a shame because there is an abundance of excellent terrain to capitalize on.
Mike and Cheryl here. This is my review of the trails at Chicopee Woods. We are beginner - intermediate MTB riders. The trails here are not for us. They have way too many rocks and roots and some are located at the top of the hill or in the turn. The forest is nice but no views of anything. I would not come back again. Nice parking area. The restrooms were closed due to the virus.
Went here for the first time today. $5 is kinda ehh but it pays for trail maintenance and trash etc. Took the tortoise and hare trails to start off and get a feel for the place. Spent more time trying to figure out the map than anyone should but Im sure after a couple of rides youll remember it all. Red tail loop was super fun. Coyote loop trail was a blast with some tight switch backs too keep you on your toes. But by no means did I think it was a advanced trail. One major rock garden that you can bypass and all the normal stuff the other trails have. You do catch some good speed though, which is maybe why they group it like that. Overall great place to ride.
Good trails some areas are really Rocky some areas are nice and smooth and flowy variety for all ages. Parking area can be kind of small there is Overflow parking and a parking fee required
Very cool, fast and flowy
Top 5 best trails for mountain biking
One of the best places to ride in Georgia. Plenty of trail for long rides and enough variety that all skill levels can enjoy it. I wish the parking fee was funding the trail projects and maintenance.
I love this place so much! The trails are amazing and I have so many memories here! Cant wait for the chance to get back out there!
1st time on MTB trail. Very enjoyable.
Lots of mild ups and downs, posted maps are faded causing some confusion in which trails are where but otherwise a calm trail system
Solid bike trails. Drove an hour and felt that it was worth it. Definitely not anything spectacular but a fun little 12 mile ride.
Great mountain bike trails for all levels
I love Chicopee the best. I started riding here and I love it. Fortunately, I never fell out here or got hurt. Im seeking some female riders who would like to ride with me. If you enjoy this trail, please shoot me an email. [email protected].
Great riding!
Love these trails! Fun, challenging, and lots of miles.
My local trail system. Offers undulating natural terrain with a good mix of beginner to intermediate trails. Very well maintained, fun, and challenging when a fast pace is maintained.
Cant wait to ride these trails with my son.
Beginner Trials are by no means “kid friendly”. If your kid is just learning, don’t try it. Plus, once you get deep in the trails, intersections are not marked regarding what trail you can turn on to.
Good place to get some real xc miles in. Most trails are two-way and flow quite well. $5 parking fee is required.
Legit trails and workout. Top 3 trail systems of GA. Highly recommend.
Plenty of parking with lots of choices of trails. Very scenic.
Well maintained trails from beginner to slightly advanced.
Great network of trails, something for everyone. Get out there and go ride!
The trails were awesome. Dry and tacky. Perfect temperature as well.
This is my go-to trail, you can ride as little as 3 miles or as much as 25, with varying levels of complexity, its very well maintained. You have to pay a 5 dollars parking fee or get the anual pass for $55.
Love the mtb here
This place is fun. Some very challenging climbs and a nice downhill reward after. The trails are very root filled and rocky so always calls for good line choice. Bathrooms... work and trails are sometimes confusing to get on.
Spectacular collection of mountain bike trails for all skill levels.
Great trail options. Lots of fun to ride! Good climbs with rewarding downhills. Well maintained.
Such a fun place to pedal, challenging for a flatland Florida boy
The trails here are just okay nothing special. I drove about an hour and a half to try this trail out been wanting to try them out for about 2 years and I would not do it again. I suggest the jackrabbit trail system near hayesville North Carolina at Lake Chatuge
This place used to be cool until they added that $5 parking fee ..of which $0 go towards trail maintenance
Great trails! Good location. Love the new flow trail
Great place to enjoy the woods.
Trails in great shape and flowy
Best mtb trails within 1 hr drive from ATL. About 15 miles of trails including everything from twisty flowy singletrack, easy technical climbs/descents, features like logs, berms, pumpy rollers. There is a parking fee, but you can park outside of the gate and then ride in.
Great biking trails, with a good variety of difficulty levels. Good connections mean that you can build a ride of essentially any length.
Arguably the best mountain biking within the metro area. Trails are well maintained & offer something for virtually all skill levels. There is ample parking at the trailhead & changing facilities w/ an outhouse on site.
Cute little lake with some interpretation signs. There was a person in the parking area that came up to tell us we needed to pay before we even got unloaded. This self appointed crossing guard did not introduce themself or welcome us to the park. My wife and I have made our careers out of protecting and promoting public lands. It was mighty presumptive for this random stranger to assume we were there to steal their wilds. In a time when nature and natural places need more advocates than every before I would hate to think what would have happened if we didnt have the money or did not feel welcome on public lands. Cute spot but this interaction really tainted our adventure. Welcome folks to the woods, they need friends.
I have heard of this trail a lot arout the area i live so i went and tryed it out for the first time and absolutely loved it. It was fast paced and a great workout
This tail system has been my MTB home for 17 years. It was nice to come home.
21 miles of trails here. Top notch twists and turns. Wide variety, from hard packed gravel to mud water and sand. This trail has it all, one of the best in the south east.
Great park..nice trails and ever expanding!
Fun set of trails. Some very technical riding with lots of roots and rocks.
One of the best bike trails near to Atlanta. Love it. Very beautiful place.
This place is an absolute dream for singletrack use! What goes down must come up. Elevation changes are awesome for the lungs, heart and mind. Even when the parking lot is packed out there are so many miles of trails everyone is scattered abroad, so traffic on the trails is never an issue. Chicopee just recently started charging $5 for parking, but Im not opposed to it for the fact they have a nice Nature Center and amenities along with the trails that need to be maintained. The single tracks are well thought-out and fluid, with very technical aspects in certain sections. Everyone is really super cool I have talked with, and very passionate about this particular Park. Ive been here a handful of times and will continue to come back, just not as much as my closer park, Charleston and Hawcreek.
Great trails, well maintained, $5 per vehicle to park or $48 for a twelve month pass.
This trail has a good bit of mileage to cover when you link all the trails together. Plenty of flow, a few washed out spots, but overall a great ride if youre not too far out of the way.
A beautiful 17 miles of trails where it is common to see more deer than bikes.
Lot of trails with different difficulties, well maintained and lots of markings on the trails.
Good place
One of the most amazing biking trails at all if Atlanta
Great spot to ride trails are mostly moderate lots of elevation so bring your fresh legs
Roots and rocks and just the right amount of hills. Flows nice.
One of the best single track riding areas in Georgia. Many miles of trails for all skill levels.
Intermediate level bikers delight! $5 admission fee and no flush toilets, little trail maintenance.
Great mtb trail systems, best mtb train in north ga
Good place to training in the mountain bike.
Love it here. Biking for miles!!
1st time today. Will definitely be back.
Excellent place to ride! Nothing too technical.
Just an all-around amazing place to go mountain biking.
Best trails near gwinnett! Great climbs and fast downhills!
Great trail system. From beginner to advance.
Amazing, except that there are very few trail markers. Extremely confusing for first timers.
Watch out for ticks though
Its a blast there!
Best place to ride mtb all day
Come shred! One of the best systems in Georgia.
Wow! Best trail close to Metro Atlanta area!
