Ive been here several times before for kayaking and to see the trail. Decided to lead a kayak event with my hiking group. Arranged with the Environmental Services Department to have the gates open, and Mike the caretaker was more than happy to do so, and let us park closer to the kayak launch. We had 19 paddlers, and Mike was great.

Richard E. Becker Preserve is 13 acre park with a half mile hiking trail along Ten Mile creek. They also have campsite and kayak options. Neat little place tucked out of the way.

Intense 1/2 mile nature hike, not for the faint of heart! Hills, ascents & descents, unstable ground! Great for the athletic types! Primitive camping with permits. Gazebos & picnic tables, restrooms, available.

Richard E Becker Preserve is a 13 acre preserve on Ten Mile Creek which is part of the head waters of the St. Lucie River North Fork. It is named after Richard E Beckerwho was the owner of the Becker Holding Corporation which is a citrus and agricultural business still operated by his family. In 2011, St. Lucie county was able to purchase the Becker property which allowed for the continuation of an important ecological corridor along the north fork of the St. Lucie River.Preserve amenities include a half mile hiking trail, observation deck overlooking the river, canoe/kayak launch, picnic tables, and gazebo. There are plans to open a nature center with exhibits. The habitats in this area are floodplain forest, scrub and pine flat woods, and primordial swamps and wetlands. Animals that make their home here include barred owls, North American river otters, wading birds, and butterflies. Richard E. Becker is a tranquil place to stroll around especially when combined with the other nature preserves in the chain.

This trail and preserve was a lot of fun because we learn that they actually have campsites with barbecue grills there is a large amount of bamboo that covers these campsites so its shaded well and then the trail itself is very nice because it offers some elevation changes offers a look at what I consider a true Florida Marsh area swamp type area as well as a view of the saint Lucie River of the North fork of it my girls and I were at this area for approximately one hour and were able to enjoy the camp area look at the trees look at the river and then go on the trail at self and enjoy it if you have any physical impairments that make it hard for you to walk up and down inclines this may not be the trail for you because there are some relatively steep inclines and declines

Beautiful tropical trails running along Ten Mile Creek. A bamboo canopy bbq area. We noticed a ton of mosquitos in the Bamboo area so bring bug spray. Well worth it!
