Nice little garden to visit with the family and enjoy nature! We paid $8 entry and spent about 1:40 minutes walking around the garden...We wore mask in the giftshop but were allowed to remove them as we walked through the gardens....There is a wide selection of bonsai trees, and the kids enjoyed the play area. The herb section is pretty non existent and there was only a very small selection of flowers. The gift shop had plenty to choose from at a decent price. Overall it was a good first visit experience. I will probably go back with the kids for the Christmas lighting.
I paid $8 for entry to the Heathcote Botanical Gardens. Friendly dogs are welcome so I brought my dog Roscoe. I really enjoyed the mosaic benches and the fairy garden. They also have a bonsai garden which provided a very unique experience. I was a little disappointed that they used the Historic Pioneer House as storage. I was unable to walk through it and read the history due to limited accessibility. The overall condition of the gardens was in fair condition. It didn’t look very well maintained, but it was still a very enjoyable, tranquil experience.
Changes taking place. Garden of lights will open Friday 11/27/20 through New Year for families to see new lighted venues and enjoy holiday cheer as you stroll through the gardens. Japanese garden has had extensive reconstruction and is now wheelchair accessible. Childrens garden is fun for families and will have a model train to the season.
The place was awesome! We went during the Gardens of Lights theme. A must for everyone!
Outstanding garden. Beautiful plants and flowers. Great wildlife attractions. Loved the Japanese Bonsai garden. Relaxing place. Excellent garden for the kids too. This place is one of the best Botanical gardens in ALL of Florida. Underrated no doubt. Get here! Only issue: openings M - F only. But worth the time!
Lovely light display, we will definitely add this to our annual Christmas light display list.
Relaxing little garden, Bonsai collection is impressive, lots of native plants, and a couple of small child entertainment options. Its a good little chnage of space but could definitely use some more community/funding support.
Went during Christmas lighting. LOVE IT! Going back for regular hours very soon. Love the bonsai garden cant wait for you the rest.
Such a pleasant garden. Many beautiful settings, especially the bonsai. The trees are mature and varied. Definitely worth a visit.
The bonsai section was great to see, but thats about it for it . The rest was in okay condition and didnt look very well kept up.
Heathcote Botanical Gardens in Fort Pierce, Fl. opened their Christmas Lights Garden Show this weekend. A great place to bring the family to see the creations made by the staff & volunteers. Food trucks, Gourmet Glazed Nuts & Woodcarving demos making special free gifts for the kids. Gardens open at 5:30 until 9 pm on weekends now through December.
This place was AMAZING!! Such beautiful Christmas lights and the way they were arranged. Its handicapped accessible and they also offer the use of their own wheelchairs. The price was very reasonable for all you got to see and experience. There were carolers there and food vendors. Santa & Mrs Claus were there with free photo ops. There is a gift shop and also Santas work shop!
Small, great botanical garden with friendly stuff and amazing bonsai colection.
Love going here! This annual Christmas light show is always wonderful! My wife & I make it one of our Christmas Date Nights. The proceeds benefit the Garden, & at $8 per person its well worth it! The volunteers work very hard to make this an enjoyable experience & they dont dissappoint!! Stop in, youll love it!!
We did the gardens of light for the holidays and it is just amazing! Im posting photos so you can see for yourselves ️
Small and nice place. Amazing bonsai garden.
Very pretty at holiday lighting time! Loved it..
Sweet little place, with a lovely Holiday light display. The staff was so friendly and helpful.
Beautiful garden, excited to come back in a few weeks for the Garden of Lights
There was so much dead things. The good was a kitty followed all the way.
A bit of paradise in beautiful Ft. Pierce. Volunteers dedication is obvious in the attention to detail in the gardens. Award winning gardens! The light show at Christmas is beautiful and interesting. Buy ($3) a special pair of eyeglasses to make the lights even more special! There are 3 shapes from which to choose: snowflakes, snowmen, and gingerbread men. Look at the lights through the glasses (we bought snowflakes) and see the lights take on the shapes. All the lights turned into snowflakes! Really cool. Next time well buy all 3 types of eyeglasses!
Having the chance to go and experience the 5th Anual light show was amazing. The best part is the casual atmosphere with live music (keyboard pianist). The weather held up, it was a nice 75-degree evening walk. Reading all of the plant type names and genus/ species was informative as well. It did not feel like a 1.5 mile walk since it was self-paced. The featured bonsai display was stunning. #ScubaJay
Bonsai off the chart. Looking forward to going to Natures Garden Landscaping in Vero to buy one of these works of art from James J. Smith.
It is so beautiful, We went for the Garden of Lights but we are definitely going back during the day.
The garden is celebrating its 33rd year as a heritage garden. The incredible Bonsai Collection, Rainforest, herb, Oriental Gardens,Settlers Cabin all with meandering pathways under the shade trees. So tropical! Open all year so you can enjoy the change of seasons including the holiday Garden of Lights which were viewed by 11,500 guests in 12 days in 2018.The Childrens Learning Landscape was also created for students to engage in learning about nature and the ways to protect our environment. There are many events throughout the year and ongoing programs with discounts or free to members.Over 300 people volunteer each year to keep the garden growing green.Checkout the website for lots of information or to volunteer. You will be glad you did.
Beautiful place! We took 2 little kids and a stroller and had a wonderful day. We packed a lunch and ate in the lawn. Best bonsai ever
Was really nice. Went for the Christmas lights. Took the wife and kid. All had good time. I had no idea this little hidden gem was even there. I want to go back to see the place in the day light. I HIGHLY recommend.
Always very nice. Especially during Christmas.
A truly magical event. The grounds were very beautifully decorated, the food trucks were a treat and the items in the gift shop were reasonably priced. Cant wait till next year to make it a girls night out!
Beautiful place to enjoy a walk in a magnificent bonsai garden. Some of these trees are over one hundred years old!Enjoy the gift shop and support this wonderful place!
This place is defiantly worth stopping for. Family friendly and down to earth cool folks running the event. They even made parking easy as well.
Beautiful, quaint garden. Small compared to others Ive been to in the past, can quickly go through giving about 30-45 minutes to see everything without feeling rushed. My favorite was the Reflection Garden. Serene. Secluded. Just enough to sit and meditate for a few. We went 10/20/19 for a plant sale and walked away with 2 gorgeous centerpieces for our balcony for under $20. They even provide memberships you can sign up for to gain admission for other gardens in the area, including Bok Towers.
Beautiful grounds. Lots of Bonsai trees on display. Very nice staff.
Beautiful botanical gardens. Cant wait to come back and enjoy the beautiful Bonsai display
Beautiful place! Lots of Bosnia trees.
I love this place. The people are so wonderful. Im having my wedding there in December and they treat me and Jacqueline like we are part of the family. Love it love it love it!
Very pretty place
As a first time visitor I was impressed with the wonderful botanical collection. Being from the north Im used to indoor gardens. This was truly a breath of fresh air.
Such a waste of money. We came here on a glimpse. For an 6- or was it 8$ for entrance. It was not worth it. It was more like a backyard garden than an actual garden that you will have to pay. Spend your money somewhere else. Though they said that they have the largest collection of Bonsai in America. But I still dont think it was worth it.
Theres a couple of garden sections that are very beautiful and makes the whole experience totally worth it. Definitely save those for the end. That would be the Bonsai garden and the Reflections garden. I would advise you to wear comfy shoes and a bug spray for the visit.
Beautiful gardens and spectacular Christmastime decorations. A must see!
Gorgeous Christmas Lighting!
So beautiful, great Christmas lights. Friendly informative staff. Dont miss seeing this Christmas display.
Fun event. Bathrooms and Snack area. Rated for the whole Family.
It was beautiful and really fun. Inexpensive too.
Amazing selection of bonsai. Beautiful gardens and a small area for children to find further entertainment as well.
Awesome bonsai exhibit.
Best part of the visit was the Bonsai display!!!
I really enjoy Heathcote Botanical Gardens because it is beautiful, accessible and something is always blooming!
Just beautiful. It will be a part of our annual tradition from now on.
Dog friendly! What more can you say?
The kind woman who looks after the bonsai trees gave me a piece of a very special tree from 1957 and told me how to grow it into my own bonsai! Very pleasant experience
I love the Heathcote botanical gardens! I just went last night to see the Garden of lights! The lights were so beautiful, loved the butterfly garden, big Santa polar bear, the water and fountain, the yummy cupcakes and taking a photo with Santa!
Visited during their plant sale. Beautiful setting and very friendly people. Loved the Bonzi exhibits.
We love Heathcote! The bonsai garden is remarkable and the tool sculptures that are scattered throughout the gardens just make me smile.
Great bonzi garden
A very nice garden with a wide variety of plants.
Heathcote Botanical Gardens has a good collection of Palms, Cycads and many other Tropical plants. Our group the Central Florida Palm and Cycad Society, visited the gardens during our Winter Meeting. The best Bonsai Collection I have ever seen. It is definitely worth the visit, even if you just see the Bonsai Collection! Our tour guide David was great at explaining various sections of the gardens.
Gets prettier and busier every year
First of all I did dislike anything because it is nature. My daughter-in-law and I had stopped by periods because we are in the area. Just spelt like it need a little attention the gardens. Maybe the walkways could have been better and more inviting. No wrong the staff was excellent. Also we love the cat what a sweetie. Was kind of disappointed that was it anything in bloom looks like everything was prones understandable though
Great bonsai garden with some old and well trained trees. focus, dwarf jades, and some really exotic trees.
Christmas display is awesome. Hurry! It ends on December 30th!
Pretty nice botanical gardens, I went for the winter lights night event and was not let down. LOTS of lights, but I wish I had gone during the day to actually see the plants. Its not huge, but definitely a neat place to go
I went during their festival of lights during the Christmas season. It was the most amazing lights display I have ever seen. In fact I returned for a second visit. Their bonsai display is beautiful!
Very nice. Easy walking and lots of interesting things to see.
Beautiful Christmas lights! I enjoyed it very much.
Walking trails of Christmas light displays. Really good ones.
Very beautiful, easily accessible, friendly staff. Loved it and my family of 8 had a great time.
Beautiful gardens especially the Bonsai garden. Peaceful and unhurried.
The Christmas light display was magical! Price is super affordable and staff were marvelous!
A wonderful local garden that is maintained by volunteers from the community. An absolutely magnificent world-class bonsai tree collection. Very much worth the price of admission.
Sweet garden very close to streets and a highway but you feel like you are in a secret garden. Beautiful environment. Several times a year there are weekend plant sales which include much education.Wonderful bonsai garden-very large and one of a kind. Lovely night time Christmas light display. Must see all of this, including gift shop. Nice.
This is another favorite botanical garden. Lots to see here, and they have a variety of sections with different themes. Check out the Japanese house in the back and the amazing selection of bonsai.
This garden is beautiful, we attended the plant show in October and there were many vendors set up throughout the garden with multiple variaties of plants for sale. The bonsai garden is especially unique. We will be back in December for the lights!
Nice garden to stroll around. The bonsai are amazing! Benches around to sit and take in the view. It’s a small garden but if you’re looking for a nature fix it’s your place.
Beautiful tropical garden like a natural jungle as opposed to a formal garden.
Not a bad place, simple.
Beautiful place with beautiful people. Their holiday lights are incredible.
Its a very nice place to go for the holiday season. Lots of light displays. Lots of really amazing and impressive bonsai trees, many of which were full of Christmas lights. There was a really entertaining Santa Claus and Mrs Claus, they were able to get my very hyper and mischievous 3yr old to take a nice pic. There is also a very large polar bear that you could take pictures with, they even had a lady there to take the picture so that the whole family could be in the pic. Food trucks too.
Awesome place if you love flowers and not to mention, the tripple headed sable palm. Only one in the world, word is, is that it was struck by lightning. It was brought to the property in 1922.
This is a highly recommended hidden gem for, Ft Pierce, FL. I used to live within miles, also commute from Savanah Rd (road Heathcote is on), or N&S US HWY 1...truly finds the Garden hidden, yet NOT HARD TO FIND.I have Volunteered here before, and I got to experience the gardens on a more intimate level. It is amazing behind the scenes and knowing the staffing, and others whom volunteer, have such wonderful passion and pleasure in the hard work they do.The gardens themselves are amazingly beautiful and, sorry to say, make my hometowns Port St Lucie Gardens look too new. That is to say that Heathcote is so established in the way of age. This lends their edge over most botanical gardens near the area. Theyve got some REALLY aged and simply astonishing trees, plants, etc. Both exotic and natural, from orchid greenhouse to plenty of different species of plants and trees to keep your eyes open and cameras clicking.Highly recommended by me, a 40 something native to the area!
Absolutely breathtaking. I could not get over the huge display a both the Botanical specimens and the lighting for the holiday season. Im 72 years old and I think my mouth was agape as much as any five year old in the gardens. And the bonsai display was absolutely breathtaking. I will go back many many times. And so should you.
Tropical bonzai collection is spectacular. Youre going to love it.
Lovely gardens with lots of Bonsais. You can tell a lot of love has gone into it. A good sampling of vegetation and some cute art pieces to boot.
Nice Bonsai excibit but the gardens need some loving care.
Bonzi collection was impressive
Loved walking through all the foliage and discovering new little scenes..the bonsai garden was our favorite..
Nice place to go with our dogs. Lots of shade, some paved paths and some dirt. The lady at the counter was really nice.
We attended the Christmas lights and it was a great event! The light displays are very beautiful with many photo opportunities! There are several attractions for children especially Santa and Mrs Claus! The walking isn’t too excessive and there were plenty of strollers and wheelchairs that were able to navigate through the exhibits! This is all outdoors and great for the whole family!
Beautiful light display. the volunteers work hard and are very inviting.
A fantastic garden. Not huge but worth a trip! The Bonsai garden Will blow your mind!
A breath of fresh air. Bonsai
This place is absolutely gorgeous. I love taking pictures, the decorations are beautiful Its definitely my favorite place to visit as of now and its very cheap to enter
Took the family here and had a wonderful visit. Very beautiful!!
Very nice. Love the bonsais!
I volunteer at the Humane Society on Savannah Rd in Ft Pierce. I pass the gardens every time I go. I finally stopped by and treated myself to the simple beauty of the gardens. Its a great place to relax and get in touch with nature. The bonsai garden is wonderful. They have a small gift shop and a lot of shade and benches.Treat yourself to the simple beauty.
Awesome, beautiful light show. Bonzi garden especially
Beautiful gardens. Bonsai was amazing. Plant sell was great & very inexpensive & the Festival was free. !!!!!Plenty of shaded places to sit & enjoy the music. Food was good too. We ll be returning often. Especially when the lites are lit up over the Holidays.
More Bonzai trees than I have ever seen. Fantastic! Lots of plants in a small garden. Walk a little, see a lot.
Very nice gardens. Amazing
