Hidden gem! Grew up in the area and had the pleasure of enjoying the boardwalk and trails grow alongside me. While some of the boards may get slippery on a wet day, this is a perfect getaway in the middle of the city. Recent upgrades and extensions to this park have been wonderful and well worth the wait. Don’t miss out on this protected historical space as Federal Way continues to grow.

A great place for a short walk, especially to bring the kids. It really teaches the importance of watersheds to our area. Plus, the giant Sitka Spruce is cool. Also, an original Denny family cabin moved from Seattle. We did find evidence of drug paraphernalia, so there is that.

The West Hylebos Wetlands park is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the day. It provides nicely maintained trails and boardwalks spaces for taking easy and relaxing walks under the trees and observing a variety of plants. The trails are flat and easily accessible for those with different mobility needs including the use of wheelchairs and walkers. It is important to know that the restaurants error not open right now so be sure to take a bathroom break before heading there. Another bonus for this park is that it does have some picnic areas which are cleared out for sitting at tables or spreading your own blanket to enjoy a meal. I highly recommend checking out this park!

Nice short nature walk, can see everything within an hour, its about 2 miles maximum. Half is on raised wooden trail good for wheelchairs/strollers. Martha Lake Trail is dirt and rock with a tiny stream interrupting a path but shouldnt be a problem for most.Somewhat busy and next to private land, but feels secluded in the center. Some wildlife, we saw/heard lots of bunnies and birds. Some slugs and ducks were out today too.

It was a nice pleasant trail very well made. After some wonderful scenic sights you come across a wonderful lake. Only downside is I would not suggest going by your self. We did see 1 homeless fella tearing thru the garbage then proceeding thru the trails. He did not bother us.

Family friendly, clean, most of the trail and track is covered in shade which is nice. Sturdy track, and picnic benches. The trail/track is very short, but you can make your rounds and go many times. Pretty flowers and plants, people leave rocks and things along the path. Really nice experience. Cool that some of the trees and foliage are labeled so you know what youre looking at. Trail signs so you know where youre going. You can play Pokemon. There are stops on the trail with some history about the place. You can pick blackberries. Plum trees over by the picnic benches.

Man I love coming to walk here. Bring the family and teach them about all the nature here! Bogs! Lakes, so many different types of plants and trees. You will probably also see wildlife such as birds, bunnies, and other small mammals. Often a quiet retreat in the mid city that changes so much season to season its always worth coming back to.

Easy trail about 0.25 miles with small lake, several apple trees, berry bushes, watch your kids from some thorny berry branches sticking out on the trail. Trail is with fine grinded gravel(see pics). Several benches and picnic tables but not shaded. Theres a trading post you could leave something for someone and take one if theres any item on it for free.

A lot smaller than expected. Theres no parking. And its right off a loud and busy road. Plus, theres not really any privacy considering the park is connected to 3 houses literally. Not separated by fencing or anything. And most of the wetlands are actually one of the houses private property.

I love this place. One of the best easy nature walks around. Great trails fairly level and mostly boardwalk. Great for kids. I would even consider it accessible for wheelchairs. Trails loop around so you can do long or short walks. Great place to look for Federal Way Rocks Project rocks. Free to enter and free to park. *The downside is that parking is limited, so sometimes I have to park on a side street a block or two away and walk along the sidewalk on a busy road to get to the park. This may not be ideal if you are bringing kids or have accessibility needs.

Good little trail/boardwalk right in the middle of the city. Once youre in there you really feel like your away from the city. I was by myself but felt safe the whole time. There were other people there, but not once ever felt crowded. Its an easy trek for all ages and abilities. Strollers can be used. Wheelchairs may be a little more difficult. No dogs allowed. The only reason I give it 4 starts is just that the parking lot is VERY small. It only holds approximately 10 cars.

This historic site has a great set of marked trails that takes you into the weltands. The path has many signs with details of the plants and trees in the area. Many kids and adults have been Rocking the area with painted rocks. If you are not participating, please leave the rocks for others...unless you really like them XD Keep or rehide and share your finds. Rocking gets kids as well as adults out in nature doing a fun activity that requires no batteries or wifi.Be careful when walking the trails with children, there are large male trapdoor spiders that have been seen walking the paths as well as snakes and other creatures you may not want to come in contact with. This is location #5 (sign missing) and #6 of the Eagle Scouts Geo-Trek of FederalWay.However the sign for #5 is not at the entrance as it should be. It would have said to follow the trails 3/4 mile down to the lookout. The final sign can be found at the end of the trails overlooking the water you can see the Brook Lake Community Center.

Hylebos Wetlands is a wonderful location, a true primeval bog in the midst of Federal Way. Its quiet and secluded yet very accessible. The entire trail is around two miles with a single loop at its heart. Total elevation gain is less than 100 making the path easy for those with mobility limitations or strollers, however there are neither bikes nor dogs allowed on the trail.
