Its so relaxing listening to the water softly hit the shore. Perfect for a quiet place to take in natures beauty.
I absolutely LOVE this place! Its my little hidden spot. Tucked away off Dash Point in a small residential community theres a parking lot off to the right you might miss if you dont know what youre looking for, leading down to a quite secluded cove. Perfect for dates, family get togethers or just hanging out in general. #1 place in Federal Way thus far.
I recommend this beach for families with children as there are MANY things to do:Swimming: The water is VERY shallow it only goes about 3 feet deep for at least 2-3 miles out so kids can go swimming here, and it is warmer than Lighthouse park, or Dash Point ( other nearby beaches )Lots of seaweed, sand dollars and sometimes little pools but they are all harmless and fun! :DShell collecting: There are a lot of different shells to collect, i recommend coming here at the break of dawn as the shells get taken pretty quick. :)WIldlife: There are lots of birds, fish and other sea creatures here to view, be sure to bring some binoculars to make it better :DTide: the tide sometimes goes out VERY FAR so great place to walk out pretty far when it is out enoughWalking distance: about half a mile or less, gravel walkway in some woods nice and peacefulSize: it is on the smaller side but the ampel swimming space, the wide tide changing and the little walking trail make up for it.overall i recommend you come here if you are looking for a great beach to swim at, view the sunrise, sunset or just admire nature! :D
Pretty place, nice walk BUT we were gone for less than 20 minutes and within that 20 minutes someone broke into my boyfriends car and stole my purse! ):
Only about 12 parking spaces, nice beach but no amenities like picnic tables. Wait for a low tide, otherwise your space to walk is very limited.
A bit of a walk from parking area to the beach but well worth it. My daughter, her kids, my nephew and my daughters bestie enjoy it here.
Beautiful, small and quiet beach park. When the tide is out you can walk wayyyyy out.
Real nice and quiet place.Im going back there again soon..
Its Breathtaking! Its a beautiful walk to the water.
Clean, calm and peacefull... Except when the birds get all excited.lol. When the tides are out, this place is a great place to bring the family for an outing, play in the sand, beachcomb etc. Lots of wildlife and natural beauty. Even when the tides are not out, this place is awesome. I would highly recommend to others.
No birds anywhere; the landscape was barren on publicly accessible terrain. However, several pelicans flocked on private property area near the ocean shores where public trespassing was strictly prohibited. This may have been poetic justice or hibernation . Still an interesting place .
Been coming down here for years and its a great place
Great private spot. Usually theres not more than 5 other people here. There is a 5-10 minute walk before you get to the water with beautiful tall trees. There is a gate that closes after dusk.
My dog loves this place. We come often even though we live near Puyallup
This is such a great little hidden gem. My favorite place to visit during extreme low tides. All kinds of sea life along with a bird sanctuary right next to it.
Beautiful short walk down to the beach. Peaceful place with great views.
Beautiful walk to a very quiet beach, you forget your in Federal way lol
Been coming here since I was in diapers. Love this place.
Great little trot down to a beautiful waterfront with neat nooks and crannies to explore along the way.
Great hidden spot for just watching the tide roll in.
This place did not fill any of my expectations. While looking at the review I thought it would be a nice place so me and my family decided to take a look. And there was no one there, there were no places to picnic no picnic tables and you couldnt take a swim because the water was disgusting. We actually saw some people that were coming back from the beach and even they looked pretty bummed I would not recommend this beach at all.
Awesome spot for birders!
I love this place. Such a peaceful beach and a beautiful wildlife sanctuary to go bird watch.
Almost banged. But still nice place to cry. The walkings cool too.
Riding my Segway down trail and... a little piece of heaven was before me
Nice walk in, quiet place most of the time.
We love walking our American Bully at Dumas Bay at low tide.
Just a natural place without picnic tables or bathrooms. Keep that in mind when visiting. A very natural place. Somewhat secluded...I would never go alone.
Very quiet and peaceful! Its definitely a hidden little peace of serenity if youre looking for a place to be alone with nature.
Dumas Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is a Saltwater Marsh and Estuary set aside to help in the recovery of the Great Blue Heron, North Americas Largest Tree Nesting Bird. The location is largely unimproved, though a single wide, level trail leads from a Small paved parking lot down to the only Public Beach owned by the City of Federal Way.At low tide, this location becomes a huge sandy basin which is fun for beach combers however the site is closed to all shell fish harvesting and removal as it is a Wildlife Sanctuary. This spot also features a few birdwatching benches along the path and a small meadow area for picnicing.
Great lil spot... more private... love the beach and the trail that walks up to the more secluded beach. Going again!
Nice sandy waterfront filled with life
Lots of clams. Good ratio of rocks vs. sand. Quiet and not too many people. Awesome view.
Refreshing scenic city noise break. Bring a lunch and enjoy on nice weather days!
Small trail for after school.
Grew up around this place in my youth, used to be fairly unknown. Now seems a lot more people are visiting and with that leaving garbage, pet waste and bon fires. Shame it was a pristine sanctuary.
Peaceful, beautiful, like your on a vacay in your own back yard
Sweet little hidden away beach. Beautiful nature walk on the way to the shore. Tiny parking lot tucked away in the middle of a residential neighborhood. So quaint.
Great private place to take a walk or walk the dog.
Nice trails and beautiful shore. Very quiet place, great for bird watching, and meditation. Good for short hike.
Long walk beautiful for children and elderly a bathroom would be beneficial
Nice wildlife sanctuary, but kinda small.
Not very inviting but the trail is clean. The beach is smaller than my living room. It could be greatly improved and kind of looks like a neighborhood project.
Plastic bottles and broken glass scattered.. Its a shame that people cant take care of these types of areas, theyre already dwindling. As for the location, I wish it covered more area, but its surrounded by houses on both sides with perimeter markers
Small quiet park nice for peace of mind
Extremely peaceful and serene. Nkce olace to relax and experience nature.
Pretty place, walk dogs bring lunch, bird watching is good. Lots of Bald Eagles around there....watch your small dogs tho.
Fine chill spot, Sweet views and smells
A place for you to go and break free
Its very quiet and peaceful. A short walk downhill to the water. The beach area is very small so if you like exploring this is not your place.
Wonderful and quiet
1 of my happy places
Love this park . It is well maintained and has a bunch of bunny rabbits there! And it is free to the public
Small but ample parking lot reached by looking for the sign on Dash Point Road (509) at 44 Ave. SW turn west and in less than 1/4 mile on right park here. There is a nice wide slight downhill shady path about 600 ft leading past lots of large trees and under brush down to the beach. Once you hit the beach area it opens up to magnificent views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mts. when it is clear of course. There is massive wetland area where Great Blue Herons and lots of other birds congregate and nest in season. Very clean and secluded. Not much human traffic here but good for boat watching and bird watching. Great place to enjoy the quiet surroundings!
I love this little beach because its never packed full of people!
This is a wonderful Federal Way gem. Free parking and a short walk on a gravel trail to the beach. Lots of osprey, herons, seagulls, crows and occasional bald eagle. No bathrooms. Tide goes waayyy out.
We miss it
Perfect place to find bait at low tide
Not allot of trash (only 2 pieces). Quit the trail to the beach was a nice shaded walk down to a sun filled beach.
Good place to see herons, not a place to hike.
Nice, quiet, hidden, community gem.
Not crowded. Plenty of area to explore. Beautiful view of the sound
Love this place great for wildlife
Its amazing and peaceful and the ocean is beautiful and you could hike at the same time
Been going here since I was a little boy with my dad ( RIP Greg Anderson ) he loved the out doors . Use to take me bird watching way early in the morning when the tide is out . So beautiful . Yep 5 stars.
I love the scenery here both on the trail to the beach and the beach.
Great little secluded city park adjacent to Dash Point State Park! Love it!
Beautiful day. Perfect weather
Its a short walk from the parking lot to the Puget sound. At low tide the kids can do find sand dollars and shells. At high tide there is a modest swath of sand and driftwood logs to sit and enjoy the scenery.
Great paths that line the shore, I went for the sunset and wasnt disappointed
This park saved our Dumas-es who decided to drift up the Sound from Dash Point in a blow up boat, not realizing until too far that Saltwater Beach may be our next access to land thankfully...Dumas Bay had public beach access to save our Dumas-es
Great place to go and vibe out to if you go all the way to the left of the sanctuary theres some steps that lead you to a bench, very cool.
Good for a walk alone.. not really a fun place to take kids to play..
Its wonderful at low tide. Lots of shells and sandollars
Coming back in the spring for the Herons
Real nice spot, a small but beautiful beach tucked away in a residential area. lots of neat wildlife, too.
Excellent
Great place to visit
Awesome place to chill
Our family favorite- nice hideaway .
This is my best friends favorite place in king county
Not friendly staff, nice place though
Beautiful
I love how clean it is and watching our native birds
Great place for seashells but thats about it
Long walk to the beach from parking lot. Garbage on the beach and little beach
Great little beach thats off the beaten path. Lots of birds chowing down on clams.
Amazing
Peaceful
Beautiful scenery
Nice 2alk to the water
Nice place to relax
