This backyard trail is my go to.Easy going, mostly wooded and manicured trails around the lake with some some single track side trails.for people who have disabilities there are some problem areas if you are wanting to go around the entire lake, a very steep dirt incline up the damn wall and sever steep uneven stair sections.

Beautiful little park! I was surprised at how much open area there was and the playground was really nice. The path around the lake is very well maintained. A great choice for a long but manageable walk.

This is reasonably small lake compared to other lakes in this area. The water on the lake is not that deep and in the shallow water there are hundreds of of fish, mostly small ones. If you go when the sun is a bit downside you can easily see them floating near the edge. If you like to run or jog this one has a long trail to follow where you can easily enjoy your time. The thing I liked about the trail is it has a number Gymnastics equipment built in and attached detail instructions incase if you are not sure how to use them. Last time I checked they were well maintained and people were actually using them comfortably. If you like to fish this place has a lot to offer. The lake is full of small fishes. I am not sure about the big fishes as the water is not deep, but you can catch hundreds of small fishes in one afternoon. Though this place is quiet and safe for most of the run, as there is no fence I would watch the children all the times. There are some places where you will find some stones and be tempted to sit, but be careful as they have some thorny bushes and grasses which may cause serious injury if not careful. You can camp there, I am not sure about the overnight camping due to modified schedule, Overall this place is very relaxing and beautiful.

I just discovered this park . Beautiful and peaceful small park. I saw some people fishing. I will definitely come back with my fishing pole. I saw some trashes in the lake. If you are visiting the park please trow away your trash, if you cant, take them with you.

Great little walking trail about 45 minutes long. Very clean, hardly any trash.

A beautiful park complete with a walking trail and even outdoor exercise equipment! Bikes are not allowed on the trail due to steep inclines with wooden steps built in at a few points in the trail, but runners, hikers, and walkers are all welcome.

Perfect scenery for a walk or a jog. It has several trail paths adjacent to the park. Not too big and not too small. The lake makes it look pretty.

The views from this Fairfax County Public park will surprise you. The trails is roughly 2 miles with scattered elevation. The pond/lake is a gem to walk around and take in.

If you like a quiet cute place to hang out for the evening and take walks, this is the perfect place. The lake is gorgeous and calm and relaxing. Great for a sunday picnic.

Nice scenic 35-40 minute walk. You can either walk over the dam or along the side of the lake when you get to the dam. The trail has a good mix of forested and open areas.

Such a beautiful walk around the lake. Youll see Great Blue Herons, turtles sunning, red-winged black birds, Canadian Geese, Mallard ducks with ducklings, fish nibbling along the shore line and more. Please, dont bring a stroller because it is unpaved and naturally hilly.

I like the walk around the lake. Today I was here to use the tennis courts. They are mediocre, getting a bit run down. They get the job done but a little TLC would be helpful.

Absolutely love this park in this Lake and the concerts they put it on every Friday evening wonderful place to visit easy access cant say enough good things about it.

Lake Royal is beautiful. Newly revalitized by Fairfax county, this lake is stunning to see. Two boat loading areas with public parking. Lots of birds. Walking path around the lake is well maintained and many dog walkers and runners. Exercise stops along the path are newer and very nice.

This is a great place in the middle of Fairfax to get away and experience some nature. There is a small forest here and a small lake in the middle of the park. There is plenty of bird watching here. I have seen an eagle and a falcon. Great place for a picnic and for a nice run. Along the trail there are some pull up bars and other small exercise/ stretching stations.

Its a lovely park to visit and spend your day if you want to.

Great little park, perfect for a 2 mile run! The lake was being dredged over the last year, but has water in it again. It filled up fast with this rainy May we have had. There is still a little construction at the Royal Lake entrance and they have an ugly fence up at the shoreline, but overall its a nice place. Try a walk down the little trails that are not directly on the water for a quiet stroll through the trees or enjoy the new fitness equipment that has been put in around the main lake trail. If you (or your kids) are into Pokemon, its riddled with stops and gyms.

This is a nice short trail for walking the dogs.. I believe around 1.5 miles around. It can get muddy and the trail is not very wide so you have to learn to share the road with others.

Nice little place to stop for a quick walk. Lake is being drained and renovated...but once the water is back in...it will return to all its beauty...

Nice, long walk around a lake. The park was not crowded, and is fairly quiet and peaceful. Several Ingress missions as well.

Excellent place for outdoor activities from sports games to running, from taking the kids to the playground to casual fishing. A wide variety of wildlife can be spotted around the lake as well!
