I miss that place ... drinks, talking with people, music that Is always on point and loud. I am so lucky cause i was pucking for like 5 minutes. And got help. One girl was holding my hair. While i was trying to call my sis. also i kept it casual. theres always some surpise to look forward to. The music was always different. I use to sneak food in because i was picky. But stopped. The lighting is bright. l tried every drink. Its just nice to dance all night. I was careful with my drinks and who I was dancing around. The bathrooms werent always the best but its like whatever.
The concerts Ive gone to so far have been in Saint Andrews hall, and even though the first one I went to was last year, I recently went to 2 concerts in February and had a blast, obviously Im not 21 yet so I cant drink anything but soda and water but the deals they have for the food and drinks are pretty decent, not too bad. The speakers that dangle next to the stage always have an amazing sound and will cause the floor to shake so be wary if you get sick from the constant vibrating of the ground lol and the venue in itself is pretty large, with the upstairs sitting areas.
Pretty cool venue in downtown Detroit. I parked at Beaumont, it was close to and the hood was ok. If you don’t buy their fast pass, you will have to wait outside. The sound quality was nice, just minor glitches during the show. There’s a fancy place on the second floor if you don’t want to stand all night!
After purchasing our tickets (for Bauhaus/Peter Murphy) we decided to upgrade to premium seating - a process that was quick and simple through email. When we arrived the line to get in moved very quickly and the staff outside was very courteous and respectful. Once inside we got our seating wristbands and were ushered up to the balcony area and given a mini tour by Dan, who was super friendly and helpful as this was our first time at St Andrews. The entire venue has wonderful vintage architecture. It really is a beautiful sight to behold. The show was amazing. The sound was loud, but pristine. At brought earplugs but didnt need them. Major kudos to the sound techs and the great PA that the venue uses. The bar staff were great too. We were pleasantly surprised at how friendly all the staff are. Even while leaving we were told by several staffers to have a good night night, and were thanked for attending. That might not be a big deal to some, but it made a lasting impression on us. We would not hesitate to return for more shows!
This is a fun place to see a live show. Its not very big so it makes it feel that much more intimate. I went last night for the first time since I was 16 and Im now 45. Hasnt changed much besides maintenance and updates to keep it fresh. Fun fact is that this was the first place Eminem had a show when he started. I think it was the shelter downstairs but fun place.
This venue was perfect. If you want a relatively close view of your band or act you are seeing all while having a good drink or two? This is the place for you. I was able to see one of my favorite bands here and the experience was worth the time and money to go. 100% will see shows here again. Plus the staff was super awesome as well.
First time to The Shelter @ St Andrews Hall! The sound quality is fantastic, the staff are friendly, the perfect venue for a great concert! Red Wanting Blue was amazing! So easy to find this locale, just moments from the Detroit/ Windsor tunnel! Worth the drive for a wonderful musical experience! Will be back for sure!
Pretty great show at the venue. Although alot of drunken fools (over the age of 40+) who could not handle their beverages.Led Zeppelin 2 played a great show.
Detroits Best intimate venue for the Biggest Acts around plus local bands and tributes the upstairs balcony is great way to see the stage & now with Live Nation claiming it as theirs were getting some really great renovations, keeps getting better! Have alot more pics but heres a few
Gorgeous venue. Very clean and staff was incredibly helpful and happy to assist with everything. First time coming to an event here and I had a great time
Very up close and personal with the show and very friendly staff! Also, clean bathrooms and safe place to enjoy a great show ! Rock on !
Its a nice little place. I had a great time. Got some great photos and videos. Got some cool souvenirs. :)
Aside from just being an all around great venue in terms of space, sound, amenities, and cleanliness, this place has attained a level of customer service that is absolutely mind blowing. Every employee I encountered was courteous, kind, and friendly. Outside the venue, security showed concern for our safety, and then the wand guy gave me such a friendly smile that I had a moment of confusion. The wand guy is never nice! Inside, the ticket takers were super nice and the bartender was amazing. He was patient and funny and genuinely seemed to want to make a great drink instead of just slinging out whatever. But it gets better. My feet were hurting me, so I was sitting on the edge of the steps. I know I wasnt supposed to and was fully prepared to stand up if security approached me. When security did appear, he didnt tell me I couldnt sit in the standing-room-only area; instead he asked if I was okay. And then he upgraded me and my two adult children to the upstairs room where we finished out the concert in comfy chairs. That level of customer service is honestly something I have never experienced in my life. Probably nobody from the venue will read this, but if any of you do, I want to thank you and commend you for a job very well done. You people are AMAZING!
Attended the Frisky Whiskey event and the venue St. Andrews is as always great. The staff was friendly and interactive. It is a great old building with great character. Good number of bathrooms . There are stairs so you may need to do some walking. The event was great. The shows were well managed and fun. The live art was very cool. The vendors were friendly, fun and had a wide variety options.
God bless St. Andrews Hall. Keep music alive; support your favorite acts when they put on a show here.
First time in Detroit came here for a concert. The Glorious Sons. This venue is very intimate. With the hardwood floors and small stage. I love these kind of venues because you can get so close to the bands and the music fills up the whole space. They also have a nice tap selection too. No just your basic domestic beers. They had some craft alternatives. You most definitely enjoy your time spent in the space.
We had an amazing time at Saint Andrews for Ben Rector. Our premium seats were well worth the additional fee. We skipped the line, seperate restrooms, and bar upstairs. Bartender and staff was incredibly friendly and we had stellar service!
We saw L7 here! Lots of standing room for general admission & the balcony probably has a great view! We hung out Stage R by the bar & had quick access to refreshments! They had my Jameson on the rocks so I was fine! The Ladies room was all right & we were real close to the speakers so everything was wildly loud #punkrock
Great venue. It gets a little crowded, but entry is easy, parking is close, and its just such a classic place to see a show!
Came all the way from Houston to see Missio in the motor city and we were not disappointed. Great venue and high energy show. Dont believe the fear mongers about Detroit. Whether 2 in the afternoon or 2 in the morning we never felt any concern for safety.
First time in Detroit. The show was in the Shelter in the basement of the club. Staff was awesome and friendly. Shelter is one large room with one bar. The bar is a square so you can get service on any side. The bartenders were friendly and quick. There is some bench seating along the one wall but other than that its standing room. Bathrooms were clean, always a plus at a venue. Beer prices were about standard for a large venue. Did not have a smoking area where you could take you drink but it wasnt a huge deal. Sound was good. Staff was friendly. Definitely would go back.
#jetlife 2009 tour was lit 02/20/19 . Shout out to the Owners and Staff, Security, Police etc you guys and gals did a Wonderful Job in protecting us, giving a clean safe environment to just enjoy the show. Go Detroit parking was cool to on the side of building. Meet and Greet was a success Thank You!!!!!!!!
Good bar food nice place to chill back
I have not been to Saint Andrews in 15 years prior to seeing imposters in effect in February. Compared to 15 years ago, the place has performed a 180 in quality and service. I always had a beer oh, never had to wait for 1, and the bathrooms were very clean and acceptable. Security cap the riffraff out.
Amazing place cant wait to play it
On February 13, 2020 is saw one of my all-time favorite bands... Queensryche. I had seen them twice before at DTE Music Theatre (Pine Knob). This show was WAY better. With General Admission, we were able to get to within 5 feet of the rail in front of the stage. Because the stage is small, we were super close to all of the band members. We even got two guitar picks!I was also super-pleased with the sound quality. I would definitely see a show there again.
Great experience. Good security. Decent bathrooms. Great sound.
This is one of my favorite venues. They continue to improve the atmosphere almost every time I go there. I always look forward to going to a show here. Very professional staff, great sound, and great history here and The Shelter.
Amazing place to enjoy your favorite singers! Staff is very friendly and helpful. My sister lost her jacket and an employee (Sarah) managed to assist us in looking for it! Overall great experience!!
Cozy and niche place. Great atmosphere and amazing personalities. The people working there are super nice and the place is great for getting to know smaller lesser known bands from all over the world.
Best Small Venue in Detroit, a group of us attended VNV Nations show November 30, 2018, we were early and talking about seeing the second floor an usher overheard our conversation and asked to take us on a tour we loved it the balcony, private seating and a bar area you think came out of the Matrix movie just simply impressive, all 6 of us upgraded immediately and will never look back VIP Society Room Access us the way to go. Great staff added to the experience!
Have been here twice in about a year to see Atmosphere. Staff & security are nice, easy to find with lots of parking near by, not sure if drink prices are high or not (12 for a mixed), but thats usually the case no matter where you see a show. Kinda felt like last night the sound guy was a little off, but couldve just been me. Wont stop us from going back.
Ive been to many concerts here, theyre always wonderful. Took my cousin here for his first concert and we met the frontman of the Plain White Ts
Great intimate venue for all different kinds of bands that cater to small but loyal audiences!
Great, intimate venue for shows. Standing room for 1000 so it gets you closer to your favorite artists.
Always a great venue! Staff is actually very nice. Never have a problem parking. I always upgrade to the Mezzinine, please note. It does get packed in the GA (but Thats everwhere). Drinks are venue-usual (pretty costly- but again thats everywhere). Love this venue! The pics are Peter Murphy and David J!
First time at St Andrews and won’t be the last. Amazing sound and building. Was in the balcony with your semi-own private bar and bathroom. Great experience and can’t wait to go back.
The venue is fantastic. As were the acts. The sound was terrible. Bass and kick bass made Ian Noe sound terrible. Marcus King Band also had sound issues (i.e. bass and kick drum too loud, fuzzy vocal mics). The talent was definitely there. Despite the sound issues, both acts impressed. But I saw many lose interest in Ian Noe because of the bad sound engineering. At one point in the show Marcus King commented about being able to afford good mics. They changed his vocal much and it was immediately an improvement. Come on St. Andrews!
Great shows. One tip: they dont serve food but if youre hungry they have better made chips at the main bar. So if you have a friend thats a little drunk sit them down and give them water and a couple bags of better made chips. That does the trick! If you get there early you can get a good spot for the show. The balcony is an upcharge but you can definitely purchase to go upstairs inside.
Upgrading your tickets to the upstairs is well worth it. There’s a bar and separate bathrooms so you don’t have to fight the crowd. Smaller size venue for more intimate concerts.
This was my first concert there. Great little concert venue! There is a basement where it looks like it could be a whole other venue inside each other.
Great sound, great security and great parking! I was able to snag a spot across the street from Saint Andrews Hall (Sweetwater side). I went to see Sabrina Claudia and the sound was great. Had standing room floor tickets and was able to upgrade to balcony seats for a better view and comfort. The Society Room where beverages were served was exclusive to the balcony tickets. Prior to I had went to the Shelter (downstairs from the main floor of Saint Andrews) I had a blast then. I recommend going to a concert here at least once.
Fantastic venue that keeps getting better with all the renovations!!
Love seeing shows here!
Is a great venue. Good sound quality. Great bands. Security team is great. They keep everyone safe, but they allow moshing, pit dancing, and crowd surfing. My only criticism is that its a bit too loud by the time the headlining band is playing. This is probably more of a criticism of the culture as all venues do this, but Im getting older and dont want to lose my hearing. Does it really make sense that everyone needs to wear ear plugs to go to a show? Or can we just lower the volume a little bit?
Nice place to attend an event! I just wish that for newbies like myself that have never been --- it was a clearer indication when purchasing tickets there is a difference between floor standing room only verses balcony seated tickets that cost more. Thus, I would have definitely paid the difference had I known.
Back 11 months later for the Verge Pipe! You have to experience this venue, beautiful, quaint. Love it. Back in two days for Dirty Honey.
There was sufficient parking close to the venue. The security did a great job checking people for drugs and/or weapons. The music sounded great and it was a very enjoyable experience. They had a nice beer selection and a few bars to order from. The bathrooms were clean and had a few stalls. I will certainly return!
Great Stop For Shows & A Friendly Staff.
Intimately small venue. They added premium VIP seating in balcony with its own bar, restrooms, and seating area. Ultimate place to see concerts.
The staff were all very friendly, I like the way the building is set up with a bar downstairs and the stage and small bar areas upstairs. Its a great place to go see a concert and feel like its a little bit more of an intimate experience!
Great place for a show. Plenty of parking near the venue. Got to see The Native Howl in action and was surprised the opening band A Year in New York put on such a good show. Will definitely look for upcoming shows to attend.
While I was initially excited to receive these tickets as a thank you for being a Veteran..my point of view changed quickly upon arriving . We waited outside in the bitter cold on the streets of Detroit for an hour. Of which included; standing alongside the homeless community and people trying to sell things to us while we stood there. The Security did eventually let us in and were very thorough and kind.Unfortunately, all that time outside and stress caused my heart stress and chest pains so, sadly had to leave early. Which resulted in my daughter crying and disappointed who had been anticipating this day for weeks. I dont know that there is a way to make it up to her.
Excellent concert venue for local and out of state bands of all genres.
Love this venue! Small but mighty! The acoustics are great for such a small place!
Great venue. I will definitely look for more acts that Im interested in on their calendar. Soul asylum was fun show!
Great acoustics, management very cool. The place is old school & beautiful!
2nd time at St Andrews for me. This was a super special event: Ultimate 80s Dance Party Featuring Tiffany. The Square Pegz played an absolutely fantastic range of 80s music that was literally the soundtrack of my youth! Tiffany was AMAZING! I had been a huge fan, singing along with her blaring from the tape deck of my boom box as a teen and seeing her live was truly a dream come true! All the staff at St Andrews were helpful, super friendly and welcoming. This is a great intimate venue to see some extremely talented musicians
A smaller venue that allows for a more intimate experience with your favorite band or artist. Balcony seats are also available for a slightly higher cost. Went to a concert here over a week ago and enjoyed myself. Make sure you bring ear plugs if you are able to get to the front row of the venue. Your ears will be ringing for days afterward.
Yelawolf was a great show! Spacious and clean venue, staff was very helpful and friendly! It had been about a decade since Ive been there and it brought back great memories!
Awesome venue. Really enjoyed the layout.
Loved it. Small venue. Not a bad view in the place. Nice restroom. Great staff
This is an awesome venue it houses 2 stages. The first is on the main floor and the stage is surrounded by a balcony to view the show, the second stage is in the basement aka. The Shelter and is where the famous movie 8 mile was filmed starring Eminem this is a Detroit treasure for sure so get tickets to a show and see for your self.
Went to see Wendy Williams here and the venue was a perfect size for the occasion. Nice balcony up top and large main floor
Wow!Havent been here in years. The place looks really nice now.Staff and security were friendly and efficient.Took my 2 young girls to a Grace VanderWal show there they had a blast and felt safe
My daughter and I went to the Half Alive concert at Saint Andrews Hall. We had a great time at this very intimate, well staffed venue. Our accommodations were awesome! We had balcony seats in the Society Room that allowed us a clear view of the stage, so that we were able to enjoy the concert. I would like to thank the staff of Saint Andrews Hall, especially Antonio in security, for making our first visit to Saint Andrews Hall an awesome event and night to remember!!!
What an awesome venue. I love the way yhe main stage is set up with the open floor and then the balcony. This is a great venue downtown to go to concerts where you want to dance!
Seen many wonderful shows over the years at this venue. Everyone is super nice here and the history is amazing!
Everyone was very cool and respectful. Had a great time at the Steve Earl show. Shout to Antonio who offered me his hand to make sure I got down the stairs to the outside safely! He was not the only one either. A nice worker did the same for me at the end of the show but I didnt get her name. Thank you all who work at St. Andrews for all that you do. I hope to be back. ️️
Great show, nice venue. Staff is amazing!
Not a fan even though the building updates were nice. Still Extremely cramped on main level and the speakers were very distorted. The quality of sound was pretty rough, not enjoyable at all. As a big concert fan, for the first time ever, I couldnt wait to leave the show because the environment was not worth it. On plus side, the place was very clean, and staff were fantastic all around.
We went to see Steve Earle at St. Andrew’s Hall years ago and I have to say the place was pretty rough...when my sister said let’s see Steve at St. Andrew’s again I was excited about the concert but leery of the venue...well my how things have changed. The hall was still small and intimate but really nice. The bar was attractive and the bartenders fun... in fact every one of the staff we dealt with were super pleasant, upbeat, helpful and seemed genuinely happy to help....they were even able to make the security search thorough while not being intimidating.. not an easy feat. Whoever did the employee training at St. Andrew’s has done a fantastic job....great night everyone.
Great venue for when we saw Overkill and Deathangel. Nice staff.
Attended Nick Waterhouse at the Shelter. Great venue for a concert. Nick was great. Played for over 90 minutes. Open act, the Mattson 2 were very good too. The acoustics were incredible. Highly recommend seeing a concert there.
Ive only been to Saint Andrews Hall once, and was pleasantly surprised by how well the building is maintained, how friendly the staff are, and how efficiently everything went. Parking is not a problem, as there are a variety of different lots within a block of the venue, costing anywhere from $7-$15. Doors were at 7, but they allowed us to enter at 6 into The Shelter (the entrance is just on the back side of the building), which kept us out of the rain and the heat. The Shelter featured a happy hour with a good variety of drinks, A/C, some seating, and bathrooms. At 7 on the dot, they allowed people to start heading upstairs. We purchased the upgraded balcony admission, and were very happy to see that there was seating. The upgraded tickets also gives you access to the Society Room which features a bar, and plenty of seating. The balcony was well worth the extra cost since we had a great view, seats, and a staff member would run drinks for you so you didnt have to get up. The show started, and ended on time. I couldnt have asked for a better experience at Saint Andrews Hall, and I cant wait to return.
Great venue! Not much needs to be said. Drink prices are good, selection is good. View is better than average, and location is fantastic!
Their new bar and bathrooms are sweet.
Yea this place is a great venue for concerts. Its a smaller venue but that just means no matter where youre standing its gonna be a great view. Two bars on the left and right of the stage and one downstairs in the Shelter.
Nice intimate venue love seeing shows here, so much history. Wish they would add a bit more incline. But really hard to find much fault.
Traveled from Birmingham, AL to see Sloan. Great show. Fantastic venue.
Best small venue in Detroit. Intimate, small crowd joint. Never a bad time here.
Saint Andrews is one of my favorite spots to see a show in Detroit. We were a little bummed they changed things up with the balcony, it wasnt worth the additional monies ($30-$50 per person to go above) to us that night but maybe at a future show. Now that we know about it.
Missio 4.19.19 at St. Andrews Hall was absolutely brilliant. The venue was perfect and the staff - incredible. I have never felt more cared for at an event in my life. From the moment we stepped in line all the way until we left. Wes in particular was fantastic, kind, and genuine. When we mentioned there was anxiety about being in the crowd (but we desperately wanted to see Missio), he went out of his way to not only ease our concerns but came back to check on us and give us quick ways out if needed. He chatted with parts of our group throughout the entire night and was so sweet! Amazing venue, perfect music, great staff with an incredible bearded Wes!
This place was great! First venue that I have ever been to that wasnt 100 degrees inside. They had a handicap area with chairs which was nice. Had to pay $20 for parking in near by lot. But it was worth it to not have to walk for ever or have to worry about it.
An old church that has been converted into a small concert venue. The sound is very good because the place is so small and intimate. The main floor has a full bar in the rear, and standing room only for the shows. There are seats up in the balcony that wraps around 3 sides of the room.
Excellent place to see a show!! I took my daughter for her first time and she fell in love
Great shows. Only a few people there. Couldnt really see the stage but still a good time.
Been here couple times for Yellowcard and another band.I like the set up and feel of the place.Definitely makes the experience more interesting
Loved this venue. Definitely kid friendly (depending on performer). Cant wait to go back.
Went to see a Butch Walker concert!! Best concert ever!
It was such a beautiful place to be.
I love this place. Always a great place to see a show. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Very intimate setting to catch a concert. Balcony seats were great. Easy parking.
Great venue! The band is always so close and accessible here. One of my favorite places to go to shows.
The drinks can been really expensive if you are attending a concert but nice clean place and loved it,!
Great for a small venue the private seating area with the bar was amazing. Good sound too
