Weve been attending Mass at Holy Ghost for years. The church is amazingly beautiful, built in large part by Helen Bonfils in the 40s. Its part of the Archdiocese of Denver and is administered by a religious order of priests, Oblates of the Virgin Mary. In these days of covid, the church remains open to all to encounter God, pray, worship and meet Jesus in the sacraments of the Catholic Church. Everyone is asked to wear a mask. To accommodate everyone, the priests have been offering Mass on the hour on Sundays, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 5. Seating is spaced out, not all pews are used to help social distance. If youre in Denver, plan on seeing this little gem of a church and spend a little time praying!
I am extremely fond of this stunning downtown Denver Catholic church which sits snugly underneath one of Denver’s high rise buildings. Stepping inside, you forget that you are in a modern city at all (a blessing, really) and feel more that you are in a European Church in some German town. Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist seems so palpable here and it is also here that my devotion to Saint Joseph grew vis my visits to the side altar to him. The Christmas Season here is not to be missed. Christmas Eve Masses are so moving, brilliant and warm. Come Holy Spirit!!!
Staff who helps us is graciously named Robert. What a humbled soul. Warm socks as gifts. PB&J yummy sandwiches. And even has helped friends, family obtain at no cost, free Colorado I.d. and birth certicates! Holy Ghost Church is also beautifully architectural design, sits at the corner of 19th and California....yes there are Angels among Us!!!
Beautiful liturgy in the most beautiful church in Denver. Pre-Covid had incense, altar boys and Latin choir (at the 10 am Latin Mass).
Excellent pastoral care and desire to serve you! Confessions daily!
I was baptised, there, I worked there and worked the office and sandwich line, working for Fr. Goodrich was better than being on a 3 day retreat at retreat house!
Beautiful homilies and confession like spiritual direction
The Mass was wonderful. The choir and soloists were magnificent. The musicians equally as wonderful. The Homily was good. All in all a wonderful midnight mass. Ill be back next year. This had to be one of the most beautiful cathedrals on the diocese. It humbles you to be inside.
Beautiful church! I love how the doors are open to everyone, especially the homeless. This church truly follows the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Church and liturgy are absolutely gorgeous! Keep in mind this is the pre-Vatican II mass so not what you might be expecting. It’s a wonderful experience though with lots of time for personal prayer. Many young families go here too.
Absolutely beautiful church. Traditional. Our Lords tabernacle is still center oh the high alter. Mass is very reverent. We were very glad we visited this church.
Its a very beautiful church!I came here for a wedding and it was during the Corona virus epidemic but the benches for seating were kept around 6 feet apart from each other. After the mass for the wedding was done a group of some 10 people began cleaning the seats as well as door handles.
It was a great place I meet two people that were so nice
Beautiful church i shot a weeding there and it was beautiful
I have loved this wonderful church since I was a baby. I served as Master of Ceremony with many wonderful young men formany years for the Glory of God and him alone. I was married there and all but one brother was. Cherish this sacred place as Helen Bonfils had hoped in 1943. Fight for it. Theres very few like it
Absolutely stunning!!! Beautiful design and architecture. And it sits under a sky scraper! Pretty awesome!
Beautiful Respect Life Mass on the day of the Denver Celebrate Life March. Honestly, one of the most beautiful churches in Colorado.
This is a beautiful Catholic Church that has deep roots in the Denver metro area.I appreciate the help that youre able to give to those in need through your community services division.Although I was not able to get help I do appreciate the willingness and the open door policies that you attempt to provide to those who may have a need.I strongly recommend checking out Holy ghost Church for your needs when youre Down on your luck.
Beautiful Church, great Mass - REALLY Happy to be back.
Beautiful church just a short walk from the convention center.Wonderful Mass and homily! Very kind and welcoming parishioners! The cantors voice was totally angelic!
The church is beautiful indeed and nice to visit but the shepherd is divisive. As Jesus warned his apostles who were admiring the beautiful Tenple that the building is temporary. Its the heart and love and mercy that counts. They could use a shepherd who unites not divides. He cleared out all the old volunteers when he arrived only to replace them with his own people. He totally disregarded the years of service and dedication the old volunteers had for the church. But this little secret has been, among others, swept under the rug.Seek holiness in simple places not grand beautiful buildings.
Beautiful church but super rude people . I Will never attend again .
People is very nice there I was there visiting., They had their picnic day after mass and the Priest and people were awesome. Thank you for making me feel at home. God Bless you.
Great choir for Midnight Mass every year. If your up at Midnight this is the one to go to!
Beautiful church. Lots of marble and wood. They have a Latin mass on Sundays.
Fortunately, I am lucky enough to live one block away from the most breathtaking Church in Denver. My Church does so much for the homeless. I struggled with my religion for a while and the Holy Ghost has reaffirmed my connection with God. I can feel the presence of the Holy Ghost while Im in church and understand that is all around me because of my Church.
Holy Ghost is very special to me and my husband. It always felt like home from the moment we stepped inside. Fr. Chris is absolutely wonderful. We were married there and our son was baptized there all by Fr. Chris. Not only is Holy Ghost welcoming, its beauty and history make going to mass that much more special.
It was a wonderfu sermon.... the church was beautiful in and out Merry Christmas and God bless
They will help you get a ID,permit vachour and a few other things.
Expensive. Wow... Paid 50 to get myself and two friends in.. Scary pretty sure everyones on drugs.. Whats up with paying such a stiff cover charge and then being forced to buy a 36$ double shot of well whiskey.. Wow.. We left before we got drugged I doubt Ill ever be back place was dead at midnight on a Friday that should tell you just about all you need to know. I was very disappointed and we left after 30 minutes. I would stay away from this place. Much better cheaper and more fun places to visit. What a shame.
Its been almost ten years since Ive had to utilize the wonderful services provided by the church but I was so glad there doors have remained open and I cant imagine the numerous countless souls they have helped over the years ..mostly to souls who take there kindness for granted or expect it from them that is where beauty in being Christian and God fearing is found. In helping those in need or less fortunate to make their day a little easier or better even as they slip from their faith in God in their tough times they ultimately cant ever forget the fact that righteousness and kindness and love towards others will undoubtedly prevail when its all said and done so haters stop hating cause youre on the losing team but have the grand opportunity of switching your hate to simply living and being happy the only thing thats in your way is you. Be good to one another and a million thanks to The Holy Ghost church nestled within the tallest buildings in this city. Humbling even at first glance. Jesus is Alive and living. Are you?
80 year old Catholic church whose interior is breathtaking.
The Church is one of the great wonders of Denver. A must see.
A great place to worship. The congregation is very welcoming and the presence of the Lord can be felt. I really enjoyed worshipping here.
My favorite church to visit in Denver. So beautiful and peaceful.
Beautiful, both the physical church and the body of believers, one of my favorite places.
Been going there for 30+ years
Beloved its one of many places you go to to get near to God
They offer so many classes you might find one that benefits you.
The only place on earth that I am at peace love this church, gospel and members
Holy Ghost MUST be made A Landmark in Denver. The most Authentic atmosphere, if your looking to feel the Holy Ghost. Beautiful.
A beautiful place, preserved in an interesting fashion. Read the back story, you will fall in love with it.
The most beautiful and traditional Catholic church in downtown Denver. It offers great spiritual attention with daily confessions, adoration, daily masses and a rich weekend schedule that includes a traditional Mass on Sundays at 10 am. The parish also has a service to the local homeless community.
Go see one of the oldest church in the Denver area
Beautiful historical church founded by the Oblates of the Virgin Mary.
Very wonderful people who have compassion and empathy to all who come
Everytime I walk through the doors of Holy Ghost Church, I feel Gods arms around me telling me he loves me.
Respect Life ChurchThat should explain everything anybody has questions about.Social Ministry downstairs...Helps with vouchers for birth certificate, Colorado id, hygiene items, socks, and a sandwich line at 10am Mon-SatNow after receiving numerous mildly sandwiches from the sandwich line at 10am mon-sat. Im totally done with this kinda assistance. Going to show Robert the picture. And be done with these kind of places that are supposed to be there to help. And rely solely on holding a piece of cardboard
They were very nice here and helped with me and my wife getting our ids. Beautiful church.
I love this church. Daily Mass at 11:30 is great, and the Oblates are great! 10am (Sunday) Latin Chorale Mass is beautiful!
Help with vouchers for id drivers license, even tools if proove have job and in need. However no motels vouchers thanks for your help when needed...
Priest is very welcoming and very straight to the point during homilies. Beautiful music and beautiful church, feels just like my hometown Indiana church. Also wide selection for mass times for the busy person. I don’t plan on going anywhere else.
Its the most beautiful church Ive been at especially for holidays and when I meet my mommy there and sisters
Its a beautiful Catholic Church with amazing architect and nice bathrooms
Its so peaceful and calming
Beautiful church...attended the Easter Vigil..it was so wonderful...my daughter will be getting married there in September 2019..everyone is very friendly and welcoming to all visitors..
Years ago I tagged along with my wife for a Conference in Denver. The First morning I decided to go to Mass. But I was not prepared for how stunning and Beautiful Holy Ghost is. The next shock was a young Priest who gave a sermon that rivaled the Bishop Sheen. I attended Mass everyday I was there and spent time before and after Mass in prayer. One morning leaving the Church there were two homeless sitting on the stairs. The Priest came out checked on the men and asked them if they needed food or water, then let them be.Sunday Mass was spectacular. The Church was full, the music beautiful, the sermon inspiring, and when the Priest held upthe Eucharist it was so reverent you could hear a pin drop. When we got home I had to tell All my friends. One friend informed me that the Bishop Chaput, at the time, ran the Denver diocese. We need more Bishop Chaputs in the Church.
Old school traditional Catholic church that has been here for many years. Maybe the second best church to get married at. Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception being the first.
One of the most beautiful churches Ive ever seen. The presence of the spirit is overwhelming.
May GOD bless those who ate less fortunate than I am. I am blessed!
I was a bum in the early 2000’s. I slept at this church from when it opened in the morning until the first service was over. They gave out food to other homeless people at breakfast and lunch; I ate and found respite here .... those times where so hard. This house of worship kept me alive, Kept me warm for a few hours and most importantly, gave me respite when people, strangers, family and friends refused to lend a hand. I wanted to die, just waiting to die from exposure... I was a bum who read books at the library to keep his sanity; bathed in the public bathrooms, walked the streets all night to stay warm and slept in parking garages and staircases drunk people pissed in, i ran from security when discovered. I will never forget how cold it gets outside here; but how colder people could be to someone or anyone who in there eyes is a no one. During this whole process I was in the process of joining the military. From the streets. /I eventually joined the military and fought multiple deployments, led soldiers in countless battles, didn’t lose a single person under my watch in combat and I did it because I believed in you. I will never forget this place, the two to 3 hours of rest got me through. I’m now a military veteran, father, student with 2 bachelor degrees and a master degree as well as a licensed contractor and manager of a non profit who devotes their energy to giving back to those who are in need. Thank you for opening a welcoming door in the morning to some people the world forgot who had just lived through the darkest night every night in this city... God bless.
Wow Beautiful Church
I love where this church is located, its super convenient for people living in downtown. The priest is super nice and his homily is always precise and friendly. So happy to be part of this community!
Most Beautiful, Sacred Church....in Our Hearts Forever.
If youve never been to a Catholic wedding before, you need to go. Ive never felt so touched and honored and excited to experience something so reverant and profound and completely gospel ridden. Im forever changed
Wonderful service & beautiful.
Mass is reverent and worship space is prayerful.Confessions are available all the time, throughout the week and before Masses on weekends. Enjoy the 10 am Mass with the choir. The Mass ordinary prayers are in Latin and sung or chanted with the choir. Grab a red missal as you enter the church if you are unfamiliar with the prayers in Latin and to sing the hymns.
Beautiful church right downtown
Sweet and helpful people....
Old beautiful church.
Stumbled upon this church while touring Denver...what a wonderful surprise! I attended the 10 Oclock mass which was partially in Latin--so rare. I loved everything about the church; the scale, architecture, incense, the relevancy of the sermon were all just wonderful. I wished there were more churches like this.
They help a LOT if people !
I love my church quiet, loving, caring, helpful. When it came down to being homeless my Church helped me get my Birth Certificate with no question asked.
Beautiful church.
The best parish hands down in the whole archdiocese of Denver!I no longer live in this archdiocese but Holy Ghost and the Oblates of Mary will always hold a special place in my heart.Fr Chris does an outstanding job as pastor of this parish! Its always been my experience that parishes run by religious orders as opposed to archdiocesan priests are much more geared to the spiritual with many Devotions in the parish, many opportunities for confession and mass. That is certainly true of Holy Ghost! There is a reason that many parishioners travel to come to Holy Ghost parish because it is a true diamond in the rough!
Amazing resources and food daily for the homeless population!
Beautiful architecture, and a nice bathroom
Pretty place for a wedding.
Its a beautiful church to worship the lord!
The peace and tranquility that I feel any place around this church, making this homeless experience of mine. Being more magical, especially since im from out of state
Gorgeous Catholic church
