Grindstone Nature Area is beautiful!! Lots of area to walk and explore!! Paved walk areas plus areas to go next to the stream. Beautiful bridge to walk over. Great area for picture taking! Only draw back is not too much parking, may have to wait for someone to leave. Great area for dog walking too.

This place is easy to get your social distancing on! It’s always pretty busy but it’s very big and right in the middle of the city! My favorite thing to do is to look in the creek for fossils, there is also a place to rock climb on the other entrance(Capen). Also good area to look for flowers, raspberries, and mushrooms!!

Peaceful area with a bridge and trails. Theres a creek where you can walk in the water and look at neat rocks. People go there to hike, take their dogs, play outside etc.

Amazing mix of dog off leash areas, creeks, and walking, running, and biking paths which connect to so many others trails through Columbia.

Lots of different types of nature. Crawdads in the creek. Beautiful bridges and trees. A very in real nature type park. Parking gets busy on really nice days but parking else where and walking to this park is totally worth it. I love this place.

Grindstone is the best off-leash place to walk your dog Ive ever even heard of. Every city should have at least 5 parks like it.

My sister and I visted the park for a nice leisurely walk in nature. We brought my sisters dog with us. We stuck to the gravel trail for the most part but noticed there were quite a few off shoots that were more wild. Maps are conveniently located and easy to read making navigation easy.

A beautiful stroll along the Grindstone Creek is a must to calm body, mind and spirit. A very well-paved path, amply wide, meanders along the Creek where birds are in abundance. Nestled in the niche valley houses and automobiles are not visible to the carefree walk through Nature.

Great place to run some easy trails right on town. If youre looking for some more challenging single track type running youll find that to. Every time I run here I tell myself I should run here more often.

The trail randomly becomes off leash. Almost no trail signage.

Review №26

We only did a small portion of the trail from the parking lot. We walked about a 1/4 mile up and back. The trail seemed flat and easy, great if on a bike. The trail we were on was mainly chip gravel. We were looking for a more outdoorsy trails though. The parking lot was large and there are large signs with trail maps and info.

One of my favourite trails in town! The scenery is beautiful and the paths are well maintained. Perfect for a walk or a bike ride! This trail links up with the Katy trail, so its plenty long if you are looking to go the distance. Parking can be a little bit of a pain on a really nice day, but overall its definitely worth going. Also, there is a creek that runs along the trail and is the perfect place to let your pup and your feet cool off on a hot day!

This is one of my favorite places in Columbia. Excellent biking and walking trails, with a nice off-lead dog area and picnic tables. Great place to creek walk, too!

Da
Review №39

The mid-week visits are by far the best simply because of the fewer number of people (and dogs). I take my Golden there because of her love of wading in the stream. It also seems that the people who take their dogs there are more prone to being betterParents than the ones who frequent the established dog parks that are in various parts of Columbia. I have seen packs of dogs that act exactly like grade school bullies at the dog parks and their owners dont think anything of it.

Ive been going there for decades. It has always been a cool place to go for an easy-access, mellow, low hassle, cool nature-experience. Take multiple paths; some small, some big and wide. Wander off to the creek and skip rocks, or follow paths 9 9 woods. One could walk a good distance on basically flat terrain, yet there are Occasional park benches along the way. Pretty good Rest rooms at the entrance (clean; well taken care of). Adequate pyaved parking at enteance. Ok to Walk leashed dogs. One or two picnic pavilions at entrance, with self-serve and; BYO charcoal, possible electrical outlet under pavillion. Its easy to have a quiet, good time here. Nice romantic date-spot.

Ke
Review №48

What a neat urban forest area. There is a nice amount of trails for a city recreational area and they are actually maintained trails. Something taste in this area. Plus the area is free to use. Id love to see more areas like this because there is not enough open spaces for the amount of people here and that means most trails are too busy and loud.

An overlooked trail in COMO. More curves than MKT but gives more scenic look. From rivers to meadows to woods to open clearings. Flat but some slight inclines. Connects to MKT as well. Great hiking areas and spaces for dogs off leash.

This is better described as a hiking access point than a park. Its a nice one for sure. Loss of star over two safety issues.-Basic Amenities-Pavilion w/BBQ, no AC outlets-Great open area for dogs-Great access to multiple trails.-Clearly marked signs-Scenic views (PM best)Only overall negative is limited parking. The loss of one star is over safety: entering off Old 63 can be hazardous (because of sharp turnoff & hard left turn on access). This is a technical. But after dark in this park can be spooky too.

We like to bike the Hinkson Creek Trail that runs through this area. The trails are well-kept, the bathrooms are decently clean considering theyre park bathrooms, and the area is just beautiful. My only warning would be that, just like anywhere else, some of the dog owners arent always the best with dog etiquette. Just something to be aware of if youre afraid of dogs or have a dog with some issues.

The area is gorgeous! However, due to it being considered a scenic route, signs alerting of sharp turns, reminders of the speed limit, etc. arent allowed. Which makes it a dangerous road pulling off or onto.
