The Robie House is a wonderful example of Prairie Style architecture. During the pandemic, several mitigation strategies are put in place. Everyone is masked up, and tours are limited to 8 people. That being said, on the day I visited only 3 people were on the tour. There is plenty of space to socially distance and I felt safe. Please visit the house, the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust needs your support.

I love this house. My husband an architect and he wanted to visit this history home. I was truly amazed

50 minute tour on the inside is the house gives you a nice overview is the property and design in context. We came in a very cold February Monday. There were just the 3 of us and our guide was very helpful and knowledge. The tour starts from the exterior for about 10 minutes and proceeds from the interior ground floor to the 3rd. Stairs are required for access on the interior space.

Finished renovations look great! Very Knowledgeable tour guides with neat little fun facts. This building is the reason I went into Architecture as a major in college. A timeless piece to remember legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

This was my third Frank Llyod Wright experience and it did not disappoint!! Wright’s architecture never fails to amaze me. The guides are so knowledgeable and excellent at explaining different aspects of his style. Walking through the house is such a unique experience, photos could never capture it well. The price was a little high for me, but it was money well-spent. I would visit a second or third time; there’s so much more to learn and take in. This is a must see!

Our tour guide, Amanda, has obviously done her homework. She knew so much about Frank Lloyd Wright, the Robie family, Chicago, and in particular, this home. What an excellent tour full of exciting, new information that I never had on previous tours.

Fun architecture tour for the enthusiastic Frank Lloyd Wright fan. The tour is about an hour and theres plenty of other architecture to enjoy walking around University of Chicago Campus. Advanced ticket purchase recommended Couple of restaurants nearby.

This was my first visit to a Frank Lloyd Wright house. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and the house was...interesting. The house had been recently renovated so I think we saw it at its best. I was happy we visited, but the 50-minute tour cost was a bit high. Parking is street parking only.

This beautiful museum was once a private residence and now is part of the University of Chicago campus. It is well worth a visit to tour and learn its history. The Hyde Park area that grew up around it in the early 1900s is such a lovely neighborhood to explore as well from 59th to 53rd Streets.

Took a great guided tour here. I do not know much about architecture, but my 11 year old daughter did a large report on the Robie House for school. It was so special to see it in person.

Our tour guide was lovely. We really enjoyed seeing this beatiful home. It was under restoration while we were there. We found the Dana House in Springfield was a much larger home. Both good examples of Wrights work.

A magnificent, beautifully restored home by the master, Frank Lloyd Wright. Our tour had a most excellent guide, vastly well informed - this is an attraction thats not to be missed!

Museum-building designed by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, located in the lush Hyde Park district, south of Chicago, and close to the University district. Very well preserved - interesting and pleasant the guided tour for those who, like me, are not experts. Definitely recommended for all modern architecture lovers.

Beautiful Frank Loyd Wright designed home near the University of Chicago campus. Lovely tour guides with lots of knowledge of this space and his other designs.If you love Wrights work, I would highly recommend attending Wright Plus in the spring. Its a full day of exploring homes that are not opened to the public, plus you can visit his studio and is worth the price of admission.

Great tour! A classic Frank Lloyd Wright house and a must see when visiting Chicago.

Beautiful house. It is currently under construction and several of its most beautiful rooms are blocked off. You can see into the rooms for the most part, but what you see is certainly not the detail you expect. For now the tour focuses on the upstairs and the kitchen area. If you are in the area frequently, Id hold off to visit until construction is complete.

Love the architecture but its still under restoration, there are 3 rooms that they are currently working on restoring but other than that all the architecture inside is amazing especially to the detail design and features. Oh and be sure to visit the little coffee shop right next to it, great place to sit and sketch away with inspiration.

Recently named a UNESCO world heritage site. A house as a UNESCO site, thats saying something. Well worth the visit just a short drive or bus ride south of Chicago. It really doesnt matter if youre an architecture fan or not, you will learn something from the knowledgeable docents on this tour.The house is in a prairie slash arts and crafts style with Japanese influences. Its not that big of a house but the details is where the genius is from painting the mortar in between bricks to accentuate the linear lines, to the concepts of compression and release at the entranceway, to the use of natural light throughout.FLW paved the way for other modernist architects.

A real masterpiece in the middle of the Chicago University Campus. This house tells the real spirit of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. Just to have in mind that the house is pretty accesible un the surroundings, Tuesday is closed to the public for tours, but still you can walking around.

07/2018 Such a beautiful house, the lines and feats of architecture really make it so gorgeous. Unfortunately they were doing a lot of restoring and construction so we were able to see everything, but I would love to go back when it is all finished.

The house is built in Frank Lloyd Wrights Prairie School style which is impressive to see and is situated almost right in the middle of the University of Chicagos central campus making it easy to get to. However, it costs 18USD for a 45 minute guided tour which is the only way to visit the interior of the building. This is an extortionate price and the building was undergoing renovations with no offer of a price reduction. Outrageous.

Chris was our tour guide and he definitely was very knowledgeable as well as willing to answer ever question thrown at him.

Im a giant architecture nerd and Frank Lloyd Wright is probably my favorite. This house is absolutely incredible and they take amazing care of it. If looking for a tour, I heavily recommend the early in depth tours. The guides are wonderful.

If you’re a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright you’ll love this place. One of his most famous houses. It’s a little hard to get to from the Loop, but the tour guide was nice and knew a lot about the house.

What an experience! I finally visited the house that I only knew by the photos. The guided tour of the house is really worth it. The guide tells lots of interesting stories about the architect and the history of the house, etc.

The Frederick C. Robie House or just Robie House as it is known, is a National Landmark at the University of Chicago in Hyde Park. It is viewed as Frank Lloyd Wrights best Prairie School design. Dont miss the Robie House near the Museum of Science and Industry.

What can I say? This is an amazing home, and one of my favorite FLW homes that I have visited. Robie House is located on the University of Chicago campus, which is a good 45 minute drive from Oak Park. So if you have tours at both places, allow yourself time to drive. Our tour guide was so amazing and fun, and you could see the passion she has for what she does. Im so glad we visited!

The Robie house is amazing! Absolutely worth the time and money to stop and take a tour. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and made the tour fun!

While I am glad they are restoring it, the modified tour was a bit disappointing. The only furniture were a handful of chairs. The children’s room, dining room, and guest bedroom were inaccessible. Several windows were removed for restoration. We still paid full price for the tickets. The tour guides seemed very weary and uptight, and they projected a thinly-veiled disdain for tourists. “Just, you know, don’t touch anything.” My friend and I were waiting in the courtyard outside the gift shop (where I had just spent $30 on souvenirs) before our tour started, and we were scolded and told to shush for laughing briefly during our conversation. It was the end of a busy Sunday, but no need to shame paying customers for having a joyful conversation in a public outdoor space. I would recommend getting tickets in advance, as we had to wait 30 minutes for the next available tour. And don’t you dare forget your ticket or join the wrong tour group. Two others were chastised for these transgressions. Also, they provide a plastic outdoor locker for your valuables, should you wish to not carry them around (or if you have a backpack), but I saw no fewer than 4 different staff members open and close the locker for no reason, while no tourists were present. So, I wouldn’t necessarily say the belongings were 100% “safe.” If I were to visit again, I would wait for the restoration to be finished and would pray that the tour guides are in a better mood.

Informative tour, well done. 100% of your ticket goes to the trust to maintain and restore the house. Immediately adjacent to the U of C campus so make time for a walk through there as well.

Amazing tour of an iconic building. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and went at a good pace. I would have loved to be able to see the kitchen and service quarters to see how the design of that compared to the public portions of the house. Well worth the time and nominal fee.

Amazing house! Beautiful details! The master bathroom shower is so unique. There is no overhead shower. The water comes out from the pipes that goes all the way around to the side. The lighting details are so unique! Nice architectural design.

The in-depth tour is absolutely captivating, if you are interested in architecture this is a tour you cannot miss. Seeing every bit of the Robie House in person is a great way to spend your weekend morning.Afterwards you can visit several of the University of Chicagos museums that are all within walking distance.

Anxious to go back and see it all finished a FLW classic

This was a dream of mine. Marked off my bucket list. Beautifully crafted and designed. Its easy to see why this house was rated in the ten most significant structures in American but the American architectural Institute. Just dont go on Tuesday because they dont do tours on Tuesday. Definitely worth the visit!!!

Kind of disappointing....Having been to a number of Wrights buildings this one though important and very impressive from the outside is small and still in the process of being restored.

A masterpiece of Prairie style

The Robie house has just been named a place of distinction on UNESCOs list of world heritage sites 2019! We took a tour of this house while visiting Chicago and I could not imagine living in such an architecturally iconic structure! I only wish Fredericks story could have been a happier one.

Great tour, just a little rushed. You have a group with a guide and you have to be next to him/her all times, and there are other groups coming behind you. I wish i had more time to take pictures (not while the explanation)

Worth a stop. Gives you a feel for austere design as well as F.L.Wrights vision. Nice to appreciate his style but would have been hard to live in.

A terrific Frank Lloyd Wright prairie style home. Easy Metra access from Millennium Park. Well informed docents bring the building features to life. A must see for FLW fans and anyone with an interest in prairie style architecture.

Although it is far from downtown, you will get to the Robie House after a nice walk through the university campus. Important to note that if you want to visit (inside) it is only possible to do so with a guided tour.

All the work to build such an extraordinary house and Robie only lived in it for 1 year.

I was wowed by how innovative the architect was for his time. Even by todays standards the house is breathtaking

Really interesting place to visit in a very nice neighbourhood. The your was really worthwhile and our tour guide Frank was very knowledgeable.The trust is still working to remodel some of the rooms back to the original design but there was still plenty to see inside.

So many beautiful details & so many gorgeous, Franklin Loyd Wright homes within walking distance & without the ridiculous parking prices around Chicago....

Tour spoilt by the docent who shouted at a family for taking pics of an empty room (who wants to take pics of a room full of tourists?) and who failed to answer any questions in a satisfactory manner. I know shes doing it for love but we paid for a tour and the docent should have half an idea of what theyre talking about.

So exciting to be at the Robie House and seeing the renovation! So great to see the Dinning Room table back to where it belongs. Great tour!

We took the house tour with Peter who was very knowledgeable and accommodating of all our questions. In fact the tour advertised as 50mins ended up being 75mins as it was so interesting. The house itself is both unique and beautiful with amazing attention to detail and innovative features. Whilst situated in the Hyde Park area its easy to get to from downtown by the L train or bus both of which stop within a few blocks of the house. We took the bus and journey time was about 40 mins. Its a nice area to have a look around too as its in a pretty leafy district close to the gothic University campus.

A must if are interested in architecture. The guided tour is great and necessary. Great experience.

Awesome Frank Lloyd Wright house. Did the audio walking tour of the neighborhood which highlighted other buildings as well.

Amazing staff and wonderful volunteers. The tour is extremely interesting and informative, you get to see the house at your own pace with the guide and the gift shop has some wonderful items. They are currently going through a renovation but dont let that keep you from going - its totally worth it.
