Even though the water was off limits and the sand tapped off you could lift the tape and sit in the ledge of the concession stand patio and put your feet in the sand and look out at all of the boats.Very relaxing and slightly cooler by a few degrees. Took a friend and her 11 month old boy there. His 1st time to a beach. He was fascinated by the sand and kept wanting to eat it. Lovely afternoon all in all.We were only a 10 minute walk away. Plan on going back again soon.

Really fun, big beach. The clubhouse has clean restrooms, a shower for feet and bodies, and theres a wheelchair accessible trail that goes almost all the way to the water. Good for families and also a gay beach! Lots of fun. Nice grassy picnic area and right on the LSD bike path.

Very small beach with limited parking. lots of benches. The small piece of beach surrounded by buildings on both sides makes for an intimate space. Not a good spot for swimming.

If you like to flaunt in a skimpy suit (like me) this the place for you.

Awesome beach! You forget that youre in Chicago. Its not a nude beach (officially), but it very definitely has a Haulover Beach feel to it.The north end of the beach tends to be the family end, while the south end is more fun, open-minded, and LGBT.

Ive been enjoying this beach for many years! the waters currently are very high. the beach house is nice- restrooms, lake breeze restaurant, rinsing showers.. you can enjoy the sand, OR the grass. the installed walk ways to the water are accessible.. and nice to use when sand is hot to walk on. plenty of garbage cans, please leave no trace.. enjoy, have fun!

I went on a Sunday so I’m not sure how it is supposed to be but I needed to go to the restrooms and they were locked except for one which did not have a functioning flush and it was gross!

Five stars for the beach, 1 star for the bar, i mean their kitchen. Worst nachos i ever had, i don’t have any complaints about the workers there, but they should improve their food quality. For example last years bar had way way better nachos.

Hollywood is my favorite beach. Missing it

The beach itself is, as so many Chicago beaches, wonderful. Theres always a fun crowd, families, and everyone else. The Beach House is pretty clean for a public bathroom. And the restaurant there is a good place to grab a Margarita and a burrito. I go here a lot after work just to unwind.

This is a great addition to the beach. I must say its very pleasant and very relaxing. Its like being on vacation you hear nothing but the water the birds and nothing but nature. You cant beat it, in the summer they have a wonderful menu lot of services are offered. Comfortable seating good selection of beverages a lot of good sandwiches. Stop in sometime on a nice warm sunny day take a load off enjoy yourself. Remember when youre there youre on vacation thats exactly the way it feels have a great summer.!!!!!☆☆☆☆☆•••••

Very clean and nice beach in Edgewater. The water is not too deep, which is very suitable for water playing for all ages. Plus, you have very easy access to Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, Persian, Korean and Lebanese food. Also this beach is not very crowded. I will definitely recommend this beach as #1 choice.Rating for this beach: 112.5%

I love the awesome nachos - a mountain of artfully prepared yumyumyum. The margaritas are big & tasty & a north-side bargain - the servers are aces! If youre going to splurge on a cool meal out - go to this beach-side treasure!

The beach is busy during the summer but not too packed. There is always somewhere to lay your towel or chair. I live up north and the beaches are often Rocky but this one is nice and sandy. It also has a little consesion stand and bathrooms.

The best beach in Chicago! Its the gay beach so its like a mini PV! Always filled with gorgeous men and women for all types. Fun!!!

I just LOVE Chicago in the summertime and going to the beach whenever I can! Ive always had a pleasant time at Osterman (although Ive grown up calling it Hollywood beach). Their concession stand was great this summer, even serving Black Dog Gelato! The cheese fries were good, too.

Always like going here and it feels safe. Never had a problem. Good parking and food biking and walking paths but can get crowded on the weekends during nice weather like any park area.

This is great beach in Chicago that is just past the end of Lake Shore Drive at Hollywood, hidden from view by a small rise or hill. The beach is very large with a nice view of the high Edgewater buildings. Part of the large beach is saved as a nature area. There is no parking except finding a space on a nearby street like Kenmore. You can get here on the 147 and 151 Sheridan Road Buses. The CTA Red Line train stops at Bryn Mawr about three blocks away.

Clean beach and more than a few hot gguys

The beach was very clean, the water wasnt cold and we visited the location in early August. There are paddle board rentals located not too far away on the beach. The area is obviously very open to people with all kinds of sexual preferences but neighborhood is obviously predominantly homosexual. Great little beach on the north side of Chicago, very recommended.

This is a beautiful beach on Lake Michegan (which is that big it looks more like an ocean). Nice little beach bar, golden sand, wifi! Loved it! Great way to spend a day on a not too crowded beach. Worth the train ride out of town

Sssshhh, dont tell anyone! This is the BEST beach in the city of Chicago. Immaculately kept up on a daily basis. Lifeguards, great little restaurant, paddle board rentals. Just a magical summer spot on the Northside of Chicago

I am a junior life guard at this beach and this beach is probably the best for what we do and the junior guard program is a intense 6 week training camp for those who want to be life guards when they grow up. we go for runs we swim... a lot and we train with courses and get to do what the real life guards do. witch is fun. the age is 7 to 15 i belive so check it out

Kinda dingy bathrooms, but its a beach. So, duh.

We went there yesterday and it had good menu and atmosphere but the rude racist waiter kind of messed it up for us. I say racist because he came to our table after is waiting for a while then came with an attitude and was very short was us...my sister just asked me what I was getting and before I could respond he was like I will be back and told my sister did you not hear me with a attitude for no reason for we said nothing, clearly he has something against people of color for we watched him interact with other tables and he was so warm and friendly but us came back with instant attitude and the owner must know this for when we informed her she wasnt surprised at all but said and did nothing to help the situation so I think she basically must feel the same as he or he is related.

Quite, clean. No entrance by car. Used to be called Hollywood Beach, renamed to Kathy Osterman Beach. This a popular hangout on the south side of the beach (the right side) to the gay community.Great bar, restaurant and facilities. Beach house for both genders.

I love the beach but they definitely need to have better waste management. Overflowing garbage kind of ruins the niceness. Besides that, every time Im here is to hang out with other LGBTQ folks. Lots of gays here. Its great.

Best gay beach to cruise men in banana hammocks in Chicago. Gay mens volleyball courts on the beach too. The lighthouse on the pier is a landmark with the Gay Flag designating it as a gay zone. Straight guys are welcome, just wear your speedo.

This is the most beautiful cleanest nicest beach in Chicago and its great to grill or relax. Just dont try to play music of any kind, or you will get shut down by this guy who literally will scream at you that your violating the law by being in the park at 7pm on a sunday

Decent selection of food but I wouldnt recommend eating there its like food from a bad McDonalds, drinks are ok though

Great beach party was held there August 5.

The Nacho Mamas restaurant was very good. Drinks were bigger than expected. We had the chicken tacos with chimichurri sauce and the nacho plate.
