The Church outside is beautiful. However, the website showed that the Church and cemetery was opened, however both was closed, one of the reasons we went there, since I have family buried in the cemetery. We did find an office and the lady there was rude, implied that we should have called before going there. I figured, if you check the website and it states open why would I call. This was on the day we went. Hopefully other people will not encounter this person and the Church and cemetery will be open.
This is Saint Michaels Cathedral. It is Anglican Catholic. It is one of the oldest Churches in Charleston with one of the oldest congregations. George Washington worshiped here. As a baptized Catholic I attended St Micheal’s. I have sat in the presidential booth and prayed in the same church as our founding father and accepted communion. It differs from the Roman Catholic in the history of the Kings and queens. If you wander through the court yard you will find St Micheal’s the arch angels grace site marker.i prayed here during a hurricane. I prayed here on Labor Day. I also gave a Good Samaritan box for a child. And I made a painting for mr Sullivan one of the church members.
This is the oldest church building in the Holy City, built on the site of the original St. Philips. George Washington worshiped here. The church is beautiful inside and out and the graveyard is a treasure trove of history itself.
Beautiful, historic church. Welcoming congregation. Serving the local community and Missions in US and overseas.
This church is the most welcoming one I have ever been to. The Sunday evening service is always so joyful!
One of my favorite place. Atmosphere was good.
The cemetery adjacent to this historical gem was open to walkers on a Saturday morning. We were delighted to stroll through the charming narrow paths between the tombstones. You can read about the souls that rest there, dating back to the 1800s. Numerous infants and small children are buried and honored in this historical plot of St. Michaels church. Sobering look at Charlestons history. Dont forget to say a prayer for them if you visit!
Whether youre ambling down Broad Street at Sunrise or Sunset or the heat of the day the St Michaels Church spire dominates the skyline and offers beauty and imagination to any visit to Charleston. Truly a visit is not complete without seeing it in different skies of color.
BEAUTIFUL. Its a must see when visiting Charleston. Enjoyed the old cemetery.
Love the cemetery!
It was beautiful! Would be 5 stars but the place is hardly ever open to the public! But it was worth the wait - so much beauty, art and history in there.
I loved walking thru historic cemetery and reading headstones.
Gorgeous old historic building. Stained glass from Tiffany.
This church was my first experience at an Anglican Church, being a Latin Catholic. Quite historic. The pastors sermon was very interesting.
Awesome history here. Two signers of the constitution buried in the small graveyard beside the church. Worth a visit!
Beautiful place.
Love that they are open to come take a peek inside. Beautiful old church with lots of history, there were brochures up by the altar/pulpit area to give yourself a guided tour. Wished I could have attended a service but it didnt fit my schedule.
Oldest Anglican congregation in South Carolina. Beautiful sanctuary.
Wow! I was expecting a boring, rigid church service. But received a spirit filled experience and a timeoy message. The pastor was very warm and compassionate, and prayed for us after the service. The cemetary is beautiful.
Impressive church.
It is a church similar to what is found in Europe. Great condition. Dont miss strolling thru the adjoining cemetary!

Great staff, cool decor, delicious foods.
Great Congregation, historic church, beautiful in all its majesty. A quick look at this steeple from afar and you get a whiff of the deep southern culture of the holy city.
Wonderful Sunday service!Beautiful church.
Love the reverence and history.
For the first time, I took the tour.. Who knew thats why they had doors on the pews. The Tiffany stained glass is awe inspiring as well. I was raised Episcopalian. My how things have changed over the years. I encourage you, regardless of faith, to tour all of the local churches and their graveyards. I look at it from a history perspective to understand who built the city from all aspects.
I saw the pew where George Washington and. Robert E Lee sat. Very beautiful
Did not have a good experience
The oldest Church in Charleston. Amazing beauty! Still a functioning church but also open during the week to see its inside beauty as well as some historical gravesites in its cemetery.

Beautiful courtyard and cemetery
Great Church 2 go to wonderful Services and great community with lots of joyful people.
This church wants the US Constitution to help them save their property, but it does not want the US Constitution when it comes to freedom of speech for all, and certainly not for exposing the truth.
Take the time to walk to the various churches in the historic district. This one is in a very active legal and commercial district.
