This is a favorite corner of the Boston Public Garden for me, even though its a lot of other peoples favorite, too. (I tend to prefer off the beaten path/ hidden gems!)I love seeing a childrens book immortalized and the children and adults alike who come to enjoy this reminder to help protect those who need our protection. A reminder that there is value in putting others needs and safety before our own desires.Over the years, Ive seen many accessories on and near these ducks. These masks and signs and flowers during COVID-19 are some of my favorites.
Sooo cute! Also dont vandalize them! Its such a great work of art, it signifies a lot about children, family
Love these ducks! Been visiting them since I was a kid
Make Way for Ducklings is a beautiful experience at any age. The art brings on immediate smiles, strangers talk to each other, help take photos of others and laugh along with the kids. The ducklings are often dressed up in sports team gear or wearing items reflecting social issues. This is art that prompts interactions and it’s fabulous!
It a very popular place, great tie in to book, and often ppl dress up the ducks
If this is a landmark that has generated your interest then you have been through the majestic and beyond amazing Boston Commons to find this creation. It’s Adored by kids and my friend had to wait to get her shots. It’s fun to try angles to get all the ducklings in a row. There are real ducks nearby in the pond as well. Beware the chipmunks, they had a grudge against my friend for some reason.
A beautiful landmark. Makes travelling through the nine worlds much easier. Great branch of Yggdrasil.
Nice art, very iconic. Someone vandalized it with swimming gear recently.
Absolutely nice, mostly if you have a kid with you. This ducklings making their way state is in Boston public garden. You can simply lieDown on the green grass, after a tiring day ( in good weather off course) and state at them. Kids definitely love playing around. Nice place to practice your photographic skill as well. Don’t miss it if you are around.
The bronze duck “ ” statues beautifully crafted and at times decorated for special events or holidays. This photo shows one entrance of the Public Gardens where the statues are, * about 100 feet in at the corner of Charles and Beacon Street. Also, 10 minute walking distance away is the Hatch Shell or a playground at the Charles River. To get to the river, just cross over the Arthur Fieldler bridge by the corner of Arlington and Beacon Street. The duckling story plaque is nexts to the playground.* A option if you have children. Bathrooms are scarce. There is one behind the Hatch-Shell 10 minutes walk away at the Charles River, but this is 2 portable out-house.
Always a favorite of small children to visit, and pictures taken by parents with the Bronze Ducks!
One of the interesting things to find at the Boston Public Gardens is the Making Way for Ducklings statues. The ducks are based on characters of Robert McCloskeys story about a family of mallards that took residence here. The sculptures are the works of Nancy Schön (1985-87) and an interesting thing to find if you are visiting Boston with young children. You can will find a bronze mother duck, Mrs Mallard, with her eight tiny ducklings, following behind her, just northeast of the lake.Note that it seems young ones are allowed (not discouraged) to be hands-on with the duck statues. This makes the statues more enjoyable for the little ones.
Arlingtons ducks! Get here via Boylston, Park St., Or Arlington Stations on the Green, Orange or Red lines. The ducks are one of many monuments and statues in this area. However, they always draw my attention! These ducks are also used by local artists to bring attention to various social issues. Stop by and strike a pose with them, the park is beautiful!
Just lovely. Great to see passing childrens reactions. Very tactile for the tiny tots to play with.
This is a very popular statue in the Boston Commons. I think I saw every child in the area sitting on the ducks and a few adults, which is a shame. However the ducks are all cutely dressed. Very unique.
What a beautiful park near Beacon Hill. It is a must for Boston visitors
Nice sculptures. Pretty cool, outside the realm of what you normally would see
Very relax and cute ducks.
Beloved sculpture from the book, Make Way For Ducklings. I love that they ducks are seasonally dressed. Seek them out.
Theyre ducks. Sometimes stylishly dressed. Kids love them. Look out for aggressive panhandling squirrels.
Nice place to take pictures. Someone prepared the ducks for the winter :D
As always super cute and theres people trying to pose with them ducks.
Lovely & cute ducklings
Adorable little statue, must be very attractive to kids. Still, adults love it as it brings nostalgia because of the old childrens book. The statue is easy to pose with and clean.
A corner in Boston public garden with statues of ducklings. Good place to take your kids and have some fun, take pictures, make some memories...
Kids love them, is a nice park to enjoy
Very popular spot in the park for kids, as well as adults.
Great park for relaxing in the midst of a bustling city.
A statue from a popular childrens book within the Boston Public Garden. This is a nice place for a photo - and indeed is usually busy with tourists snapping pictures - and its in the larger garden which is a great park for a walk. I wouldnt necessarily come here just for the statue, but if you are in the garden or have children who enjoyed the book, its worth stopping by.
Very cute! Glad I could finally see them. The park there is just beautiful!
So colorful creative and fun!
Always puts a smile on your face
Great park for walking. Alot of history here. Thats about it during the fall other then the changing of the leaves.
Why would you rate this less than 5 stars. It’s just great, simple, and fun.
The ducks gaht smaht pahk that’s why they aren’t moving
Very interesting and interactive art. My wife really wanted to visit this and we finally made it out on our last day here.
Always a great place for kids to play. We enjoy going there during the good weather
Super cute, good place for photos
Adorable statue in a beautifully maintained park. Very cute for photos with kids!
As a preschool teacher thst has read the book MANY times, it was cool to follow the story through the park.
Love the Boston parks and definitely make way for ducklings :)
The Common park in Boston is clean and nice. I guess it should have better ilumination during the night.
Cute little statues. Its a must see!
Make Way for Ducklings is a beautiful set of sculptures in a beautiful garden.
Lovey stroll through the park
So cute and usually dressed for the occasion!
This is a 6/5 monument. Definitely go see the the ducks. They get dressed up for holidays and sports events too.

Based on old childrens book, one which I enjoyed as a child.
The kids love it. Really cute when ppl dress up the ducklings.
Great place to visit in Boston, good memories, if you have a child, I would recommend getting a picture. Very cool to sit on the ducks. Also check out the rest of the park, and the Boston Commons, the oldest park in the United States!Overall great Boston Landmark to visit, especially with a kid.
For all the Ducklings fans...
Cool statues from my favorite city.
Cute statues. They dress them up for seasonal events like the 4th of July
Lovely statue of Mrs. Mallard and all 8 ducklings from the Robert McCloskey childrens picture book classic Make Way for Ducklings. Came by in March and a bit disappointing to find the Lagoon drained with just a few puddles for the resident mallard ducks to swim in. Much of the park is just as pictured in the book though and the statue placed there in the 1980s is obviously well loved (based on the shininess of Mrs. Mallards bronze head).
Love coming to see the ducklings!
My sons favorite place in Boston! He loves seeing all the birds on the pond too.
A cool site to see, especially if you know and like the book. A lot of people though if you go on the weekend. Took a while to get a full photo with out anyone blocking.
Such a lovely representation of a wonderful childrens book. Be prepared to wait for folks to get their insta-worthy shots.
Good place to visit
Ever since my kids read Rick Riordans, magnus chase books they think these ducks are portals to the other 8 Norse worlds.
I love these ducklings. Such a joyful and fun and very-Boston statue.
Must see in Boston. Kids love it.
I loved the book as a child, it was wonderful to see it brought to life.
Fun Area Nice To Walk Around .
Cool sculptures
It is the cutest statue you will ever see.
Cute. Very cute. And someone give them little scarfs and hats, to keep them warm.... :)
A sculpture to celebrate Make way for the ducks.
It was great to see it in person. Bigger than expected. Be aware that children are constantly sitting on it so there are not a lot of opportunities for pics without the kids.
I like the duckling that is partying in the middle. Its always the middle children who love to party.
Made way for the ducks. Mediocre experience. Would rather it were a Queen or something less bronze
Cutest park sculpture ever! I visit it everytime Im in the city. Locals frequently dress the ducks up for holidays, which is always very cute to see! Last time I saw them, they were dressed in Mardi Gras beads and party hats!
My kids love it !
If you read the childrens book first, this will mean more. A great place for pictures. Another famous Boston landmark that just celebrated a big birthday!
This park is so great!! Awesome park right in the middle of Boston.......
