The staff onsite are doing a really good job of making sure everyone is keeping their masks on properly and there are sanitation employees cleaning everything as often as possible. The cafeteria is also very clean and with enough space between tables for social distancing. However, more work needs to be put into making sure that visitors arent overcrowding small areas. I had to move with my group often to avoid crowding in a single room.
Great experience. Very few people on Friday afternoon. Its COVID age.. they have dedicated staff sterilizing everything. I saw them everywhere spraying and wiping.Other than that Boston Museum of Science is the BEST. I have been to many.If you come more than once per year buy the Basic membership. It pays off, plus there is always something new to discover
A very nice museum with a lot of interactive areas. With covid they do a good job with putting hand sanitizer everywhere and making announcements about keeping your mask on. Some things are closed but you can do a lot of things and I really enjoyed this museum especially the behind Pixar exhibit. Which is a special exhibit that goes behind the scenes of how they make Pixar movies like toy story, monsters inc. and inside out. It’s a really cool thing to see but I don’t know how long it’s gonna be there for. But this is a place to come if you’re exploring Boston.
This place is massive with plenty of things to do and learn about. It takes about a whole day to get through it all especially if you bought the add on shows like the planetarium and such. If youre one of those people who like to read and understand ever plaque and detail you may want to give yourself a lot of time and it will probably be a 2 day trip. Currently because of COVID restrictions they do not that their lightening show which is in my opinion the best part. The cafe has limited options but Im glad its open. You are allowed to bring in your own food but can only eat them in the cafe. They have sanitizer stations about every 15 feet so you can disinfect after using the hands on stations. This is great if you have kids. By far the best science museum Ive been to so far.
I havent been to the Museum in a very long time and went with my nephews. We all loved the mirror wall and the Pixar exhibit. We will definitely go back when everything is open but they are doing their best with people cleaning touch surfaces and lots of hand sanitizer stations.
The Science behind Pixar exhibit is amazing. We spent nearly 2 hours in that exhibit alone- we went at 9 am and for the first hour it was just us in the exhibit so I recommend booking that time slot if you’re interested in listening to and experiencing all of their stations. At 10 am when the next group of people entered there were so many kids and people it was too loud to listen to the videos and enjoy the exhibit. We stayed at the museum from opening to close and we were able to visit everything that was open except the planetarium exhibit. The guy who checked us in (he was wearing a Mike from monsters inc mask today) was really friendly and even recognized us when we re-entered after visiting the food court. The food court food was actually good! We were worried about having to leave to eat somewhere else to come back but the falafel plate was okay and was the most decently priced meal of our trip. We were pleasantly surprised - especially after reading reviews about how the food court food wasn’t that great .
Its a great place to visit on a Friday night when its mostly empty. Love the geology and ornithology exhibits. Pixar exhibit is a must see.
Awesome...awesome... wanna know why? No people!!! Who said COVID-19 didn’t have a bright spot. You could enjoy the exhibits, take your time and not have to photoshop people blocking your photos. Go now before the word gets out!
I was there in 2019 with the golden age tour group I want to see the planetarium next time I heard that is awesome! Their cafeteria food is very reasonable too and its delicious! Im disabled its a lot of walking but it was well worth seeing the things I saw so far! But I really do want to see the planetarium!
Great place to take young kids to spend the day or a few hours watching them learn. Theres plenty to take in at the Museum of Science and I always feel like theres something that I missed before in the permanent exhibits (of course theres new, fascinating stuff to check out in the temporary exhibits). It is nice to go out and stroll along the water on the backside of the museum, too. We like to park in Cambridge at the mall (and if it is lunchtime, get a bite to eat) and then head over. This makes for easier parking, easier departure as turning left out of the parking garage can get tricky, and it allows us to get more steps in for the day.
There was an amazing amount of interactive stuff to do at the museum. We also went to see a live animal show which was really fun. We were a group of adults and it was nice that everything was aimed at people of all ages. We were lucky enough to be there at the same time as the Dog exhibit, which is where we ended up spending most of our time. The view of the river when you first walk in is stunning as well. We were visiting from out of town so it was amazing to see the river and learn about the waves at the same time.
Went for the first time with a friend and we only stayed a few hours but this place is great for anyone. People that love science or dont. They had a great Pixar exhibit which details hope the animation team makes the great movies they make. Definitely check it out
I had seen a small museum in Sabadell Barcelona where there is a Triceratops skeleton, however it has nothing to do with the one in Boston, for lovers of paleontology and supergood for lovers of large dinosaurs this museum is a true wonder. It is accessible for the disabled and wheelchair.
There are many area closed: Omni Theater, 4D show 360 ride. The regular exhibits are open and gift shop.
Took 4 hours to walk through and it was great and had actives for adults and kids
A really great experience! Its very kid friendly, with lots of interactive exhibits and positive stimulation. My favorite thing was the planetarium. The guides were entertaining and informative, and they seemed to care a lot about what they were doing. Theres something for everybody here, a butterfly garden, dinosaur exhibit, mathematica, and awesome live shows for the whole family. The museum encourages kids to get interested in STEM through activities. Its also great fun for teens and adults. 5/5
So much to see and do even with the covid restrictions. Kids lived it.
This place is an absolute gem for children in order to spark their minds as scientists. Not only does it include exhibits but there are many interactive activities to do within. I felt like this would be a wonderful opportunity to bring kids to learn and captivate interest in science. Being a college student, I still found some of these shows/exhibits rather entertaining and Im still learning from it. Although on the smaller side, I think this museum was an incredible experience. I highly recommend the electricity show. Parking was >$20 for about 5 hours but was attached to the building. The museum was easy to find and the overall experience was a bunch of fun
This place was great with so much things to do and so many exhibits and the Pixar exhibit was my families favorite. This place also has a great cafeteria and this place was so huge me and my family were there for 6 hours and still didnt finish seeing everything definitely will be back again and a must see attraction.
Its a great place to spend some quality time in Boston. Covers different science topics with interactive displays. Ideally, you can expect to spend around 6 hours. The entry ticket is 29$ for an adult. Many exhibits and shows have add-on tickets. Parking is also quite expensive (attaching a photo of parking rates).
First time being there for about a decade! Really fun and lots of new things to see. Enjoyable for a couple of adults, took us about 3 hours and we could have spent more time observing everything. Nice and quiet during the weekday. I wish the electrical exhibit was open but oh well. Parking was quite expensive though, as is apt to happen in Boston.
Very good place. We spend the entire day (6 hours). The boys (age 6 & 4) loved this place. It was not crowed (we went on a Friday)
My first time and I really liked it. Took the kids to have some fun during the rain. I can definitely say that they are ready for covid times. Sanitizer everywhere and close to all the hands-on activities. Have to go back and finish the experience because it was so much to do and we didnt get to finish.
Consistently fun time, each visit changes as my girls get older and can engage the available material in more depth. Love the current Pixar exhibit...
This is both an excellent and lovely museum, very rich in features for all ages. There are lots of History, technologies and even adventures there. The access is easy coming from Boston: just take the subway and in minutes youre there. Dont miss it: you and your kids are gonna love it. Thumbs up!
In these COVID-19 times I was very skeptical about going to a museum but I was VERY impressed with the precautions they have in place. They make sure there are no more than a certain amount of people in one place and theres a hand sanitizing station seemingly every 20 feet so you can still touch and play with the exhibits. I had a blast and I felt safe there. Now is a great time to go to avoid crowds!
This place is worth the price, as an adult experiencing this place I honestly say I missed out on learning so many things as a child. Bring your kids here, they will grow love for science in such a fun way.Family friend and very sanitized during COVID-19.
The museum is great to those who love to study about creatures who alive about centuries ago. They have here the extinct animals and many more. It gives you few learnings and you can apply this to your profession.
Good for parties with kids. Many exhibits are now just a videos on screens. I would prefer more items to see rather than videos.
An actually incredible place. Theres so much to see and do, and you could easily spend 2 hours here. I was sad that most of the shows were suspended due to Covid, but the experience was great nevertheless.
I went here today for a school field trip and me and my classmates had lots of fun! The gift shop has lots of gifts from candy to clothing. The movie theater is very cool and it feels like you’re in the movie. The really cool part is the park fun for kids of all ages. You can see some cool animals and learn about body systems and if you’re lucky, you can see real parts of the human body! Kids and adults can have fun here and I would recommend it for family fun!
Large area to walk around. It is not worth it right now, as it is expensive and many off the items and attractions are closed. But still had many interesting things.
Decent food, super nice staff, we almost took a wipeout on those front steps. Walk up/down carefully... but worth the meal yall.
What a great way to spend the day with your family learning and having fun. We literally were there from open to close and still didn’t see everything! My 10 year old had a blast learning about electricity and couldn’t get enough watching the butterflies. My husband and I also had fun, it was like we were kids on a field trip! I also recommend the planetarium. It was really cool!
My family loves the MoS! We have been members for two year, worth every penny. With new exhibits coming in on a regular rotation, we go at least 4/6 times a year and always find something new to see.
Havent been there in yrs but Im sure its still amazing
Best place place to geek out in all of east coast. Great for people of all ages. A lot of cool stuff to learn and be amazed at. Exhibits range from the oldest inventions to the most recent technological developments that are taking place right now. The place has enough exhibits to take up a whole day. You will be guided through the exhibits on clearly marked pathways.
Very educational. Takes about 2 hours or so to go through everything. Pixar hall was fun. We would definitely come back for a 4D movie as We couldn’t watch it due to covid.
Really amazing place for both adults and kids. Its an awesome experience
Always love going here. My gf and our siblings and I had a great time today! So many awesome exhibits. Really enjoyed the engineering exhibit for kids where they could build their own trampolines.
My 4 year old and 2 year old have a blast at the Boston Science Museum. There is more to do than you can cover in one day so there is always something new to explore. Its fun for all ages, including us adults. My sons favorite was the life size working toilet which was cut in half that shows how things flush. The butterfly room, live animal shows, and dinosaurs were a big hit. He also loved the space capsule which he could climb into. My daughter loves pretty much everything. For those that dont bring their own food, the cafeteria has a great selection. There is a salad bar with fresh fruit and salad options. There are also several stations with sandwiches, burgers, and pasta. The prices are reasonable and our party with 4 adults and two children ate well for approximately $50.
The museum of science is absolutely wonderful! There are several exhibits that cater to each person’s learning style and interests. There are great learning opportunities for little ones to see the impact of their lifestyle choices on the environment, and child and adult alike will find the many interactive exhibits to be well-worth the price of admission. I particularly enjoyed the “What I Eat: Around the World in 25 Diets” and I cant wait to see how this museum continues to evolve with its exhibits. The view of the Charles River is absolutely stunning, as well.
This is a great museum for kids of all ages. They have free electric shows and interactive engineering challenges. The volunteers have great attitudes. They have a lot of special exhibits and a decent selection of food in their cafeteria. They also have a large gift shop. I have been a member for many years.
An absolutely wonderful place to go for a day trip. All of the exhibits are well thought out and not a single activity was run down or broken. There’s countless things to do. I was there from 11am to 5pm and still didn’t see everything. The Body exhibit was incredibly well done and an amazing experience. I saw the Polar Express 4D movie and it was great, although the chocolate scent was kind of disgusting. It is not a good place for sensory sensitive folks although I haven’t looked to see if they’ve got specific days for that (as some museums do). They seem to handle large school trips well; they can definitely accommodate them. The cafeteria is probably the only thing I didn’t like. The selection was great; lots of typical lunch foods as well as healthy options and snacks and tons of drinks. The area to sit and eat had a beautiful view of the river but was too clustered and not clean at all. Other than that the building was spotless. The gift shop was pretty standard in terms of pricing. Good quality items and an impressive selection of things: games, clothes, tiny toys, post cards, books, etc. I bought a little book for those pennies you can grind logos into, and a mug with the anatomy of the brain printed into it, and paid about $30.A wonderful experience. I can’t wait to go again. The worst part of the entire day was just driving through Boston in rush hour!
My adult kids and my 5 yo all loved the museum today. I loved the NEW lightening show with the music, though my son said the second was power rangers a d my youngest and oldest and myself had zero clue. The Sorcerer s Apprentice starring Nicholas Cage and the Dragons Tail actor was the first time I heard of pure electricity being able to create musical notes and is my favorite scene in the movie.
Best museum around! I could go here every weekend! It has so many cool exhibits and the temporary exhibits change as do the shows it keeps you coming back! The butterfly garden is always a plus and even though it is an extra cost it is a small amount and completely worth the 6$
Be prepared to spend the whole day here if youre going to read every single info listed. Lots of knowledge and they make me miss school so much.
The exhibits are very educational and the planetarium is excellent! Well worth the visit.
What a fabulous place for families to spend time together. So many interactive experiences. Something for everyone! The Omni theatre presentations on Cuba and The Great Barrier Reef we’re informative and moving. The Tesla electricity and lightening show was amazing. My husband and I spent an easy 6 hours here on a wet day and just loved it. We also loved watching the kids around us have fun.
One of the many fantastic museums in Boston, this one is particularly great for families. There are a ton of exhibits and shows, you could easily spend the entire day here. Many of the exhibits are interactive, and there are a lot of areas that really cater to children. My favorite part is how the descriptions are very easy to understand, even if science is not your thing (like me)! We were able to get a library pass, so tickets were only $10 for us, but even the regular price is well worth it.
Nice museum with an on site parking garage. Currently has Body Worlds exhibits, which is an incredible addition! Its a MUST SEE.This museum isnt the biggest ever, but its got lots of cool interactive exhibits. The museum is open late on fridays and currently allows students in for free on fridays. A great combination for a nice after class time.
Great job making people feel safe, yet welcome, during the pandemic. So glad our family made this trip before school/remote learning starts next week.
My kids absolutely LOOOOOOOOOOVE the Museum of Science! Whether youre Bostonian or from out of town you cant NOT go!
The museum is well laid out and much more interactive than Id expected. There were employees constantly cleaning spaces as people moved through different areas.
Even doh this museum more children oriented, it is tons of fun for everyone. There are a lot of interactive attractions, planetarium, 4d theater, body exhibition, dinosaurs, illusions and mind tricks, electricity show, you name it.... can easily spend the whole day there, highly recommend
Buy your family a year’s pass and your weekends will be taken care off. Giant playhouse of learning. Soon you’ll have budding scientists on your hands. Not to forget a great restaurant area overlooking scenic River Charles.
I went on July 20th for the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. The museum was interesting and had a lot of space themed exhibits. However, the museum is totally geared towards kids, so if you’re an adult looking for some fun, I’d recommend skipping it. If you have kids, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon. The museum is well laid our with plenty of interactive exhibitsAdditionally the museum is completely accessible with audio and closed captioning for every exhibit.
Great place to all ages!!!Needs lots of time to be inVery professionalvery cleanvery aestheticgreat place be in or hanging around with the family
I loved our visit to the Science museum. We learned so much in one day. I cant wait to visit again.
We come here quite often. The 4d theatre is always awesome, the live shows they do for kids are very entertaining, and the Omni theater is really really cool. Most of the exhibits stay the same, but occasionally theyll swap out one for another. My kids always enjoy coming here. Well spend the whole day at the museum, from 9 to 5.
Very large museum. I didnt manage to go everywhere but still thought it was worth the money. Very vast display of museum articles. The exhibit at the electricity hall was entertaining and educative.
Its a great place to visit with family or friends, and its always rotating exhibits, so it never gets old. The staff are also very friendly and polite.
My family had a great time and for are great price. We bought a membership and got to do so much. We are looking forward to coming again. The food court serves great food for a reasonable price. Come once come again.
Been coming here since I was very young, a great experience for both children and adults! This time we came for the train exhibits and the Polar Express 4D show, both were excellent. The show was only 15 minutes and could have been a little longer but we all enjoyed it, especially the real snow, ice, and hot chocolate scent that we experienced as part of the fourth D (in addition to the 3D glasses)
It a worth visit museum not that big but ya some good stuff like the science behind pixar and other things can be found
This place is awesome with constantly rotating exhibits. It is fun and educational for kids from 2-99 years old. Just took my two year old for the first time and he loved it. If you are going to go multiple times in a year it may be worth getting a membership. Also, many libraries in Massachusetts offer passes for up to 4 people where tickets are only ten dollars. Check with your local library.
My favorite museum! If you’re in Boston area you need to visit it :)
Super fun exibits and a definite must visit with the family. They lay out learning in a very interactive format which makes retaining the knowledge easier. Sorry. got alittle nerdy. Point is I love science and I know you will after you visit here!!
Beautiful museums for both kids and adults! The butterfly display in spring autumn is so much fun!!!!
They took all social distancing measures seriously and we had plenty of room to be safe. Some exhibits closed, which was disappointing, but definitely better to be safe
Better than many other science museums Ive been to. Spacious setting with many different halls/areas. The electricity show was pretty good...playing Super Mario on Tesla coils was a great touch.
Love this place and have done the floors here last project completed was the new ice exhibition that opens in December
A great museum with many interactive exhibits. Very interesting and I learned a lot.
Great place for the kids! The butterfly garden is a must! Would recommend starting early in the day. There are 3 floors of many interesting things here. We will be back again to see everything and to learn.
Good place to go with family
Well layed out and easy to get around.over all a good museum.
This was a pit stop on our way to MA. This was a fancy museum. I wish we had a little more time to go through some more of the sections, but we managed to see a good bit of things. I didnt get too many photos, one is a beautiful view of Boston from the parking garage, I was happy to atleast get that shot. Also, I got a super cute coffee mug!
Great museum, great experience for children. The planetarium movie about Mars was super!
A kid and an adult can enjoy this place equally.. visited many times and I wish to visit again soon
Very fun for the kids and in this pandemic it was very clean and well organized. Some things were closed but understandable, my kids still had a great time we loved going there
Still my favorite New England museum and worth the hefty price of admission and extras. I bring lunch for the family in order to save time and money. The exhibits are ever-changing so our visits stay fresh and informative, appealing to all ages. It is always super clean and the staff is very helpful. They have lockers and rest rooms, including a family private restroom in the green wing on the second floor. And the famous Boston Duck Tours begin and end out front if you want to add another fun adventure to your day!
A great spot for kids and adults alike. Be prepared to spend the day. If having lunch, go early to beat the crowds. And yes, the butterfly exhibit is worth the money (especially if you have little ones). Mine spent 20 minutes watching the ants work!
Has to be one of the best museums Ive been to.. the kids were engaged, we were informed and interested.. This is a huge and awesome Museum! #culture
Family friendly! And there are so many interactive stations that one visit will not be enough. But with each new visit, each experience will be its own special experience.
Like one gigantic interactive science fair! Kids will definitely interact with the exhibits here! I was impressed!
Great place to visit!! The museum is amazing so much to see and do. Great place for lids and grown ups alike. The butterfly garden is very cool(but has additional cost on top of admission). Staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking garage is very convenient but not cheap. Close to Northend and Quincy market.
So interesting and so much fun! There were great exhibits for children and adults. We ordered our tickets online so thankfully we did not have to wait in line - we were able to walk right in. We did not purchase tickets online for the Butterfly Garden or the Omni Theater. By the time we decided to go into the Butterfly Garden it was about a 3 hour wait so we could not go. I was really looking forward to it so it was really disappointing. Next time we will get them online or right when we get there. We had lunch in the cafe around 1:15 on a Saturday and it was absolutely packed. We had to sit at a table with another family because there was no place else to sit. The food was not great; burgers, sandwiches, chicken tenders, salad. Next time we will go after lunch and on a school day to avoid the crowds.Overall it was extremely interesting and a really good experience!
Was fun for my wife and I. We saw the lightning show. There was mostly kids with their parents in there but I had a ton of fun. The eames exhibit was really cool. Seeing the same one they put on for IBM is something really special.
This amazing treasure, that brought me so much joy as a kid, is constantly being updated. Took two middle-school boys today and they really enjoyed it. Best of all, they could walk around by themselves and explore at their own pace. A younger boy and I spent the afternoon together and I was amazed how focused he was. We all need to go back and see the other 2/3s of the Museum. Cant wait!
Great day at MOS. The butterflies are amazing. Glad to see they still have the electricity show and dont forget to stop in for a 4D show. Fun times for all ages!
A really awesome place for a family visit ! The museum covers most areas of science with hands on interactive activities wherever possible. They have the original Van de Graaf generator and there is a show on electricity which is cool. They have animals in dioramas which is traditional museum display work. Also have an engineering workshop in the morning along with an education lab for teachers/ students. Well maintained !
Its a great museum to take kids as there are many activities and interactive displays. Not so much for anyone past their teens. Compared to other science museums (e.g. natural history museum at New York or San Diego), it was a little underwhelming in that it wasnt targeted to educate adults. It felt more like an entertainment center. The planetarium show, however, was excellent and engaging.
I loved it. One day was little for see all. I think that have options for all kind of likes.
Lots to see, had a fun time.great for kids. Big.
So fun and so much to see!! Loved the electricity show!!! Gift shop was kinda kitschy, but lots of the exhibits were interactive and engaging for adults and kids.
An amazing place to spend your day with your friends or kids or even alone! Spoiler alert: its not just for nerds.. Theres just so many different sections in the entire museum, like the planetarium, the museum of natural sciences, geology, mathematics, theater of electricity and i am sure there are a few others which I could not cover. All of the exhibits are super interactive, meaning that theres a mini experiment for every scientific principle on display. Theres also a duck tour that goes to the Charles River but the seats are limited. All in all an awesome place to chill out and learn stuff!
Such a wonderful museum. Lots of interactive exhibits.
