Nice friendly trail with 3 miles or so from dam to flag pole on other end. Popular for training by local running groups and schools for wide clear path. Some areas are fairly steep. Only downside is no facilities at either end.
Love that this trail is dog friendly!! It’s extremely helpful that the path is so wide as well. Perfect for biking. There was little to no trash, and lots of wildlife. The off-road beaten paths led to pretty destinations as well. My new favorite spot!
Love coming here with the kids right now, perfect place to let out some steam.
Great trail with water features and woods, some is paved, some gravel. Lots of people out biking, jogging, and hiking. Mild challenges with a few inclines, but nothing super strenuous, making it a good trail for a variety of people. Good parking off Ligget Road.
I was really looking forward to this trail as it seems to be one of the longer trails in the area being over 8 miles long. When I pulled up to one of the trail heads there was a sign that said trail closed. I checked the parks and rec website and it wasnt clear if all or just some of the trail was closed. When I called I was told that a small portion of the trail had been washed out and they were putting down rock. I asked why they closed the entire 8 mile trail for a 50 ft section and she said it is just what they do.
Let me start by saying I give this three stars because I’m not quite sure what it’s supposed to be. It’s not a hiking trail, it’s not a mountain bike trail, it’s more of a confused gravel road that is wide enough to drive a tractor through. It switches from pavement to gravel and sometimes you wonder if you’ve wandered into a county road somewhere. There are a couple of little bridges, and it’s nice enough. It would be okay for kids, and it’s nice enough for a run with some shade. However in the spring/summer you will not have many views of the water due to the foliage.I saw several turtles, deer and rabbit. I would estimate you would be able to see turkey too. All in all it is a nice walk, and okay enough for periodic runs. I was harassed by horseflies for the last half of my run, but no ticks. Be wary of ample poison ivy.
Great trail with plenty of shade.
Excellent trail for dog or oeple walking. The trails are well marked and mostly paved.
Wanted to try something other than our boring normal walk around the block with my dog. It definitely did not disappoint. The trails were wide and well maintained. Love the fact they allow dogs! I will say that we passed some dogs who were not on a leash but they were well behaved so it wasn’t an issue.I can only imagine how pretty it is once the leaves start changing. We will definitely be going more often.
My boy loves for walks and biking, also use it for running.
Great place for a nature hike.
Great trail but no markers at the forks.
Nice chat trail. Wooded and some lake views. Some hills.
Great place to get away from the rat race of life and take your dogs for a walk or ride your bike
