We love going here. It is one of the nicest and well maintained conservation areas we have visited. There are multiple hiking trails for all levels. The main building has educational and interactive displays that are great for kids. Out back is a smaller but fun trail to hike. There are multiple areas where you can have a picnic and many areas that we see photographers taking pictures. It is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The best part is you can take the family out and make memories for free.
We love Kansas City Area parks. Big nature reserves in the middle of urbana. This is no exception. Great rock formations to climb and everything.
I took my children here so they could feel a small connection to the woods like the woods I crew up wandering through in Florida. There are several paved trails and many more just rock trails. We have seen turkeys, deer, squirrel, chipmunk, etc.
Beautiful trails at such a convenient setting. Its the perfect escape from a busy life. Also perfect for kids and strollers.
Been coming here for years. Incredible place to take the family and spend the day hiking and exploring. The conservation center is really interesting as well.
Great park. Lots to explore. Can be quite busy in the fall
A lot of fun. Good for kids and lots to explore. Bridges, stairs, rest points, creek, and twists and turns of big rocks. Wear pants - lots of poison ivy
Great place to take the kids or your loved one for pictures or a stroll through the woods. The nature center is fun and exciting.
Great reserve. Easy to access walks- wheelchair accessible and rougher tracks. Beautiful flowers and plentiful wildlife- deer, turtle, turkey, gold finches, dragon flies, snakes...all seen on one afternoon.
Great place close to the city but able to be in nature. Well maintained trails along with an interesting visiting center with a friendly staff. A place worth spending some time. Enough trails with most connecting to one another that is is very easy to hike whatever distance you want, from a mile to 10 miles all while never far from a road or where you parked vehicle.
Lots to do. Lots of trees and the nature center is great. Check hours. Trails and ponds with bridges and creeks.
Beautiful trails and nature center. We saw butterflies along every trail!
Really nice place close to civilization there are some great hiking trails here that are easy to get to.
Excellent. A must visit if you stay in or near Kansas City
Love the trails! Always a beautiful hike.
Even if the weather isnt suitable for hiking, the center is perfect for discovery and play! And what a huge win with the sun room right next to the bird feeders. Turkeys come straight up to the windows; its great having the indoor play area; lots of seating for eating, drawing or reading, and then such great trails! We went when it was QUITE cold, so were hoping to make it out once the weather is a little more enjoyable. Perfect for kids and adults alike
Pretty nice hiking. Mostly shaded. A few trails are underused and overgrown but the main ones are gravel.
I am blessed to be in a neighborhood right next to this magnificent location. There are all sorts of trails here & the nature center is both helpful & full of resources. From different programs/events like wild edibles & feeding the snakes, to a museum chock full of fun facts, to bulletins lined with info such as fishing regulations & conservation stuff. This will become my favorite place to hang out once I settle down from painting this town (I just recently moved here & have been hungry for adventure). The best trail for me is Bethany Falls. Thats where the boulders are!!
I really enjoyed it. Very interesting. Plan on going back.
Beautiful wooded trails and open meadows to walk. Not too hard for out of shape folks to tackle. The Nature Center building has a variety of native species on display plus large windows where you can view birds eating from multiple feeders.
Its soo beautiful here! For pictures or just to hike!!
Loved the center my hike was nice and the people I met was friendly If I was to change anything it would be that dogs were aloud with me on my hike
Beautiful and serene . nice hike. we will definitely be back
Burr Oak Woods Nature Center has something for all ages. A large paved parking lot is provided with designated wheelchair/handicap parking spots. Inside the center they have fish, snakes, turtles, and various activities. Modern restrooms and water fountains are available. Mens, Womens, and Family restrooms are all provided. They have an auditorium for programs. The building is air conditioned. Admission is free. A small indoors play area is also available for children. Outdoors, they have different trails. The trail directly behind the nature center is easily accessible. The entire trail is easy walking and paved. Wheelchairs would be able to access the trail, but it is not level by any means. Some areas are steep for a wheelchair. No bicycles allowed. Benches for resting are provided along the trail. Poison Ivy is abundant off of the trail. Nice family activities.
Very cool place to have a nice nature center and the best trails around. You can get lost if youre not carful.
I always enjoy the quiet and solitude of these trails.
I always enjoy stopping at Nature Centers and this was especially well done. The facility was comprehensive, informative, and well attended. The trails surrounding the center we very nice and interesting. Great place to enjoy a fall day and be outside int nature.
Beautiful trails. Not as well marked as I had hoped but we made it work!
Its where i go to feel close to & to remember my mother since it was her favorite spot to go to & explore nature....i took her great grandkids that she never got to meet to her favorite spot this weekend to Easter egg hunt and so i could celebrate them with her too
Relaxing and enjoyable. Loved walking the trails and seeing the different animal and plant life.
One of the best places to hike in the entire metro. Several trails for all skill levels are available and they keep the really clean and free of littered. I have not had time to check out the nature center itself recently, but it used to be quite fun and informative as well with displays of several animal and insect species native to this area.
Big dank rocks on Betthany Falls Trail
Loved it its so naturally green and peaceful iam diffiantly going again
Beautiful nature preserve and center! Great for bird watching and hiking. Paved trails and an indoor play area make this a good stop even on a rainy day! Toddler and mom approved
My Family and I absolutely Love to go hiking here. There is trails with paved paths and there off the beaten path trails.Great place for outdoor activities
Great paths and gorgeous! Wish I could bring my dog though.
I love taking the kids here to walk the different trails
Nice place to ride your bike or take nature walks. Has a nature museum for local wildlife.
This park is a diamond in the rough! We took a four-nile hike through the woods and found some awesome rocks. It was well worth it!
Nice trails, lots of birds. It would probably be better in the spring time.
Favorite place to walk, trails are clean plenty of wildlife to see.
Great place for kids to get up close and personal with Missouti Native wildlife, and play in the indoor play area
Loved the Trails and nature
Beautiful. Just need to get there before they start cutting trees down next time. Also they may want to run the pot heads off there were quite a few smoking pot in the forrest when we were there trying to take some photos. But to each their own.
A favorite place to hike with bluffs. Very scenic for our area and it has a Nature Center and wildlife. Its a conservation area. Its a favorite place for photographers to shoot photos of people.
The Nature Center was packed with information and neat displays: live amphibians and fish and many, many taxidermy animals on display as well. Interactive learning areas that are very kid-friendly and fun for adults too! There were staff on hand to answer any questions and give deeper information if desired. There was an outdoor classroom area and many trails around the nature center as well as the bigger park. Its the kind of place families who love the outdoors would love to live near!
This place is awesome! So many things to do, inside and out. Two play area for kids, books and puzzles for kids to use/read, live reptiles to observe and watch feed on certain days, lots of trails to hike, paved and unpaved, picnic table and shelters, and nature books/resources available for purchase.
Its a picturesque park where one can do bbq, play sports or go fishing
Beautiful! We did my wife and Is maternity photos here and they are gorgeous! Definately reccommend for hiking, photos, picnics, and more!
A grest place to hike
We only had time for the nature center and one trail. Very interactive and kid friendly, with some live animals to see.
Fun place to take kids. My 2 yr old likes to go and see the animals. You can see the animals being fed which is lots of fun for the kiddos. During the summer especially there are a lot of birds at the feeders to see also. Staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable.
The parking party was wonderful. Hey gals t he guys out numbered us 3 to 1 i like it that way. So if you can handle extra attention or stuff
Great programs for kids and a for the family to learn, relax, hike, meditate & more... The staff & volunteers are amazing, very helpful and friendly! My kids loves this place!
Quiet while we were there. Calming.
A pleasant afternoon visiting the nature center. Well built displays with brief interpretive signs about the flora and fauna of Missouri.
After consulting the webpage to be sure it was open,we went to the Nature Center with our grandson. Unfortunately, the web page was incorrect and the center was closed. Wish thet had updated the website to indicate closure. Took a walk in the woods. Disappointed.
Wonderful walking trails, scenic and well kept. Conservation center is top notch. Great for families.
My 3 year old asks me to go to Burr Oak ALL THE TIME! He loves it! Smokey is his favorite :) Staff is wonderful! There are beautiful trails to walk, an area for kids to play and read, fish, snakes, turtles - lots of fun.
Took some of my youth runners here and they loved it
Love these trails. Just started trail running again and these are a good mix of trail types.
The area is easy to get to. The information center is great!! It has excellent displays of local animals and plants. They also sponsor a large number of activities for children and families. There are easy trails with paved surfaces to use strollers on. There are also some more rugged trails that are excellent for hiking. The park feels like it is much farther from civilization than one expects (fairly quiet and free from road noise). An outstanding outing for just about any age. Recommend checking the website for daily scheduled activities you might want to attend.
Love to walk the trails and check out the scenic nature at Burr Oaks. Great place for couples, or families.
Pleasant hike through the woods. Interesting geological features on Bethany Falls trail.
Love it good place to enjoy nature
Great urban nature oasis. Nice hiking trails and good wildlife viewing opportunities
Love the trails here ️
We love going here to walk on the trails. Everythings well maintained and a couple trails are paved and good for strollers. The nature center had learning and playing areas for kids in addition to interesting facts on nature.
The trails are well maintained and scenic.
Love how beautiful nature can be. This is my aunt from Michigan and it reminded us of the trees around the lake where she lives. Such a special memory.
Cool little place. Its free to go in and look around, very informative. Friendly staff.
Burr Oaks is awesome! Theres so many different trails you can take. I love the various terrains. I enjoy getting away from the city, but its right here in Blue Springs.
Love this nature park! Theres always something new to discover
Such and incredible nature reserve, Ive been going since I was a little kid and I still have fun there now.
They keep this place clean, fun, and safe. So many indigenous species of flora and fauna available for your little ones to explore. They are always adding something new. The staff is very efficient!
Its a very peaceful place to get away from the city and breathe in some fresh air with ur family.
Excellent place to visit and take a walk on the nature trails
Great Fishing Class for the kids !!
Very well maintained. Clean.
Love the trails here! Many options for various levels of hiking.
Its big and beautiful and the trails are just right for all ages. Love their classes too.
Great for getting outside and exploring nature in a structured manner. Nature center has many different animals and educational programs, even a small play area for toddler/preschool aged children with animal puppets and a slide. Multiple walking trails varying in length and still level, including a paved trail for those with accessibility needs.
Several exhibits, knowledgeable staff, auditorium for presentations and classes, good trail system.
Beautiful.....
This park has beautiful trails. The one and only complaint I have, is that the park desperately needs to have signs saying how long each trail is. We would have stayed at the park longer, if we had known how long each trail would be, but theres nothing to tell you that info.
We try to go here once a week. It is my sons favorite place. Free beautiful nature. The inside is awesome as well, especially when it is too cold or hot to be outside. Always clean. And employees seem to love their job.
Been in the city for a LONG time, first time I was here! Definitely going back for more walks! Kids enjoyed the displays and info inside too!
Very cool place
Been here literally hundreds of times. Love it every time. Great place to bring kiddos for nature classes, field trips or any time they are open. Love all the trails!
Love this place. Great info. Nice trails. People are very friendly.
Nice nature preserve, excellent well maintained walking trail with beautiful nature scenery.
Always a fun, beautiful, and educational place to go. Kids have a great time
Saw this green area on Google maps and thought I would check it out! What a gem of a place. The paved trails is are well-maintained and at the views are diverse. We saw quite a bit of wildlife including snakes, frogs, and deer.
