A beautiful quiet gem of a park. This park is big enough to have trails you can enjoy but small enough that you cant get lost. It has a beautiful walk down to the beach. The longer trails are mostly on the left side of the park. Theres plenty of open space to find a spot or bench to sit and enjoy a book. They also have a few tables with a canopy covering them to have meals. It is a dog park so you will meet plenty of furry friends. Dogs also have a new fenced in play area now, where they dont have to be leashed. There are mosquitoes everywhere though, so cover up or use bug spray.
Great place to bring your dog. Love that they have bag poles so you can pick up your dogs droppings.
Well maintained trail system, some sections of lovely red maple woodland, marshland habitat heavily disturbed.
The expanded dog runs- one for dogs under 25 pounds and one for dogs over 25 pounds have added to the park’s already excellent reputation as dog friendly. One of the few parks on the shore shore that allows dogs. In addition for the dog runs are numerous trails that can be enjoyed with leashed dogs or humans only.
I Love the atmosphere here at this park and will always love the many different breeds of dog you’re bound to see here at this park lol! My Son loves running around here and walking the trail seeing the animals and going to the bay at the end of the trail. You’ll see all sorts of nice people and I’ve had nothing but peace on each of my visits. I totally recommend if one wants a place for some good peace and quiet.
It was a nice day. But the last 2x times i was there, it has been so swampy and full of puddles. There was a Red Tide coming on the shore line
Great place for a easy hike. Also very dog friendly.
Great in the fall months...the summer has relentless mosquitoes attacking you. Amazing view of the Great South Bay at the end of the main trail.
Got there too late. I didnt know that there was west Nile virus. When I found out I didnt stay. Between Covid, West Nile and all the other stuff happening these days makes me ready to start dodging thunderbolts!!!
Great place to bring your dog for a play date or just to let them ran around and get tired... they have separate play area for the big and small dogs which is great I have a husky and he tends to follow small dogs. Kids playground is right there too. next time we’re going to walk at the beautiful trail...
This trail is maintained very nicely and the big grassy area is nice for leashes dogs to meet others. During high tide, it may be difficult to explore the entire beach at the end of the straight trail. And on humid summer mornings, the mosquitos will definitely bother you.
Always a good place to go for a walk, the trails are simple and nice, everyone is friendly escpecially the dogs
I love this place. Great plants. Always find something new when i come. Elderberry. Raspberry. Mugwort. Honeysuckle. Linden. Its a foragers dream spot. Id say its frequented more often by dog walkers but great for a human being walk as well. They have a nice fitness circuit in the front area. Great trails for a jog and of course the beach at the south side if the park.
Loved it a mile walk to the beach but worth the sunset.
Great views, great trails, great space and an overall great day. We brought our dog down by the water where you get a surprise thrill view of the bridge and a nice stretch of a walk there and back. Theres small lakes throughout and some really beautiful bushes and trees that if you appreciate, will give you a great day at the park. I think if I had a bike that day it would have been downright amazing.
Very nice place to go with the family dogs very friendly people nice trails highly recommended
Great park for dogs had a great time
We took our new German Shepard puppy here to have a nice walk and slow introduction to other dogs. Great opportunity to see other dogs, walkers and access to a small water front. The dog run looked very well maintained as well as the parking lot. Not too crowded either. Nice space to enjoy.
Dog run was clean and everyone was friendly. Disappointed by the so called beach. But a nice time.
The place is beautiful and if you just take the path down to the water its about three-quarters of a mile there and back a nice little walk and if you take the path that connect to it you could walk a little further. There are some ponds Friday Saturday and Sunday and other wildlife that is very lovely. Everyone there was very friendly and lots of lots of doggies.
Great atmosphere, love the locals and alll the dogs
A bit crowded. Agility park is a nice addition. Plenty of parking.
Always a beautiful park. It was a great day. We came across a beautifully built teepee off a trail that a father and son have been building for months. This park is near and dear to my family, its just a great place.
This is the place to enjoy an afternoon of relaxation. Awesome paths to follow and enjoy some sights and sounds of Long Islands natural habitat. Great view of the Great South Bay. If you have any canine friends, bring them cause they will have a blast.
It was great for a light jog and ta beauties of the beach
Great place for hiking with the dog with many different trails. Beach trail leads directly to the beach so the dogs can enjoy. A great way to spend the day with family and the dog.
Lovely open space, with lots of trails, the main one leading out on to the bay with a great view of the Robert Moses bridge.
Favorite place to bring my pup! The only downfalls are that the mosquitos are absolutely unbearable when the weather gets warm and low tide by the water is disgusting. My white dog always comes home brown if we go by the water . Also very messy after the rain
Nice place but was eaten alive by mosquitoes. Dont walk away from Beach Rd. You will regret it.
Wonderfully beautiful Park. Great place to bring your dogs to relax and enjoy the great outdoors, but there is no Wi-Fi anywhere no bars on my phone so we cant work there!
Really nice place for walks . Beautiful lots of wold Life.
Always a fun and lovely walk at Gardiner Park. Great spot to take your four legged bestie for an afternoon stroll. Be prepared for mud and wet sand on a rainy day.
Great park, many dogs, very clean and fun
Nice and big park like to bring my fluffy here there is a playground for the kiddos little lake a few trails goes all the way to the water you can see the bridge the lighthouses if you go till the end i recommend this park to couples with or without doggies check it out
Great place for a walk or just let the dog have some fun
Nice park that allows dogs.
Beautiful, peaceful place to walk with dog.
Dog friendly but no beach really, not much to do. Be sure to bring bug spray!
Great dog park here on Long Island. Everyone that I ha e encountered is great and polite. Nice for a trail walk with your dog or even alone. A nice path to a dog beach.
A very nice park. Set up well for walking the dog, going out in the park, to the shore line/beach, & clean bathrooms.
Really beautiful spot. Lost of great trails. There was also a huge dog park so be on the look out for lots of friendly pups.
Great place to bring your dogs. The walking path goes all the way to the bay. Theres also areas for the dogs to interact and be off leash. Dont forget your poop bags!
Great place for bringing the dogs!
My fav place on Long Island for nature walks! Just use bug spray & check for ticks
Walk down the main trail to get an awesome Great South Bay view of the Fire island lighthouse. Many benches along the trail dedicated to locals from the area. Great little patch of what Long Island used to look like.
Nice nature walk to a dog friendly beach. Not the kind of beach you want to lay down on. But great for dogs and a relaxing walk.
A wonderful historical experience.Beautiful garden.
I saw a very good frog.
Great hike but a bit muddy from last nights storm.
Really nice on leash dog park with water and poop bag dispensers play ground covered picnic tables restrooms the main trails are groomed flat and easy to hike great all year round also great for bird watching
This is a great park to walk around with you dog, because it has open fields, wooded trails, and access to the bay. However, when its warm out, there are a lot of mosquitos and other bugs that swam around areas with stagnant water, especially after it rains. During these times, bug repellents are reccomend. Otherwise, the park is well worth the visit.
Great trails! And dog friendly which is great!
I like the park. He gets excited when weve arrived and hes made a few friends. So have I with the other owners. There is a water bowl on both the over and under 25 limit size. I would just make sure you check and rinse before letting your dog drink to be safe. It can get messy when it rains. I havent visited the beach side. Generally, everyone stays on to if their dogs to manage their behavior and pick up waste but the can be the bad ones that dont. I visit regularly. Only wish they were open later for working people.
First time here, everyone was very friendly, nice trails to walk your dog on-leash, beautiful view, Ill be back to catch a sunset.
Nice walking trails. Shady and very dog friendly!
Walk the path through the woods and wetlands to the waters edge with your best friend for a spectacular view of the RM bridge. This path lines up with the lighthouse in the distance. New spacious enclosed dog runs.
My girlfriend and I walk our dog here and take him to the park. He loves it and so do we they have a really nice path that leads down to the water. The path is dirt if you dont enjoy a walk in the woods dont go here. We love hiking and our dog Diesel is a pitbull who is welcomed anywhere he goes.
Great little dog park and a nice walk to the Bay, Id suggest checking tides before going though to avoid that low tide stank.
Nice park bring bug spray though
Great small park for walking dogs
Great walking serene
Love nature and trails. Dog friendly facility, clean, has 2 fenced in areas for dogs to run and a training area. Great place for a walk.
Love this park. Its perfect for my dog, my kids and me and my husband to enjoy a scenic and casual walk
Great place to bring the kids and the dog. Great for walking and biking, has a playground and swings. Had an ability course for dogs and open run areas for the dogs
Serenity. Great hike to the bay!
Love the dog runs!
People need to clean up after their dogs
The walk to the beach its just that, the beach its not something you want to spend the time at.
I have lived in Bay Shore 16 years. This is my first time here. I got out of my car, sat on a bench and within a minute a man on a lawn mower shoots by me at top speed and Blasts me in the face with lawn Crap! Not once but 2X. I found a supervisor who seemed not to care. Im disabled and its hard for me to get around. And this was my first day out in a long time. I hope he never dose that to a child..
Nice park to walk the dog. They also have a fenced in dog run available if you can handle the canine chaos.
We love Gardiner County Park and so does our dog!! We love the trails, the beach, the field, and the dog park!! It has everything you need. You cant beat it!!
An amazing place to take your dog for a walk. A great place to relax in all weather conditions its quiet and calming. I went there on a few photoshoots and totally recommend to any people who love photography. Its very uncommon to find alot of consistent spots on longisland to take great pictures with depth but this park is a great place to get lost and enjoy the scenery.
The playground needs to be updated but it is a very pleasant place to visit
Nice park with trail to beach, make that shoreline as its more muck than sand. Has excellent dog park and play area for the kiddies. Public bathroom gets the 5th star.
Local park feel, dog friendly enclosed areas must have leash and own pick-up bags
Great dog friendly park with trails to access the Great South Bay with nice view of the Robert Moses Bridge to Fire Island. Additionally there are areas where dogs, based on weight, can run freely and socialize with other dogs. High recommendation. Just bring mosquito spray.
It was a great dog park. It was large and very clean.
Great park for walking your dog down to the Bay. You meet a lot of nice dogs and their people.
A great place to take a walk and see a lot of unique birds
Dog park!
Free parking. Nice trail to the water. Too many pools of standing water along the trail breeding mosquitoes. Be nice if they could fill in some of the holes with dirt.
Great park and you dont even need a dog to enjoy it
Wonderful place to bring your pets or just for a nice walk!!
Great park to walk your dog..just got stuck in the pouring rain coming back
Excellent new dog run. Two very large pens, one for small dogs and one for dogs over 25 lbs. Water spigot in each. Bring plastic grocery bags to donate for waste cleanup.
The signs for ticks make me nervous with the kids & the dog but overall I do think it is a very nice park
Excellent dog park area
Too buggy. Took the dog there for the dog park and a walk. Left in 10 minutes. He didnt want to be there either. Both of us covered in mosquitoes. That with bug spray. Not pleasant at all
Beautiful trails to walk leashed dogs and explore nature.
Great times here!
Nice quiet park mostly used by dog walkers. Main trail leads down to great south bay where dogs can go for a swim.
Great dog friendly park and trails
