Great place for triathlons and other workout activities particularly if it involves open water swimming. The course around the lake is on the hilly side. It is also great for family outings and picnics.

Great lake for someone new to paddle boarding or canoeing like me. The current is very manageable and there is low motorized boat traffic. The beach area and amenities could use some improvement.

Great place to workout and have a picnic. Went swimming, water was clean enough for me but it is murky and foaming. Obvious runoff from nearby processing plants. Which is a shame. Worth the $5 though for sure

The beach area was very littered with beer bottle caps, cigarette butts and trash; which made it harder to enjoy a picnic. Swimming is easily accessible. Will not being returning for a family picnic.

For fishing, mornings are best. Bank fishing in the evenings is not good with people swimming on each side of you. The grounds are well kept. Theres lots of hydrilla in the lake.

Beautiful underutilized land. Rodeo Austins home. Large lake in park with good fishing and boating opportunities. Hopefully city of Austin relinquishes some of the tax monies approved by voters in Travis county for needed improvements to the arena and surrounding areas. Austin seems reluctant to do so? In fact the issues with Austin is they already have the money spent, before its in hand, typical. Just like the lake front properties recently added to the tax rolls they spent that before even receiving it. Buying hotels etc. for homeless people, whom I agree need help but is that the correct path? By purchasing the properties they are removed from the tax rolls as well as the income they generated from occupancy taxes, wow, a double whammy on income sources. I digress, sorry. Enjoy the solitude available here.

Nice big park, wide open spaces, more quiet & peaceful location away from traffic. Just waaayyy too many portable bathrooms placed everywhere, really degrades the scenery, & I would never use those. All of that money would be better spent on park road repairs, less portable bathrooms, more road maintenance. Nice water views & great place to exercise.

Walter E Long is less than 10 min from my house and is an under appreciated gem of NE Austin. There is plenty of good fishing spots and picnic space for small to medium gatherings and the park is usually not very busy. Would really like to have a party here in the Fall once it cools down.

Beautiful lake but the website says there are walking trails and there isnt. Super disappointed I paid $5 to get in and couldnt do anything. I guess its nice if you have a boat or fish. It has potential to be a great park. Put in some trails, add a playground etc it would be perfect. But right now it isnt worth $5 unless your boating...

Pretty park, lots of open grass for dogs to run around! Beautiful little water reservoir that looks like a small lake. People can go fishing on it and swimming in parts. There are areas to have a picnic or a party as well. There doesnt appear to be a regular life guard on duty, so you must swim at your own risk. But definitely recommend going by and checking it out.

What kind of city park charges money to go inside?out-of-town just stopped by and they want to charge me $10 to go in this park because its a Friday normally its like $5 Monday through Thursday. This is a complete rip off and there was no one even there so the park isnt even making any money. Dont waste your time go to a different free park.

Its a great place to swim. Pretty decent parking. My only problem is the amount of fishing hooks and broken beer bottles that I have found on the ground amd in the lake itself. Its not the Parks fault, its the people who visit. If you bring your family and pets, you might wanna do a good search of the area to make sure its clean.

Have a need to get away from pavement and sidewalks load up your skies, kayaks, canoes and boats with motors. Great boat docks at this place bait house close by. 3 pound black bass thought i was napping come out the waters fine, No cash only plastic

I like this lake. Its a typical Texas power plant reservoir. Its not crowded, its fairly quiet, its a short drive. I never catch a ton of fish, but I catch some and thats fine with me.Disregard Jorge Ts review. Hes clearly a chump. I fish alone and therefore have to leave my boat unattended while I park. Ive had zero problems. Not everyone at the lake is an angler and thats fine with me.

Admittedly, I didnt spend much time in the park itself as I went to the lake to go kayak fishing. However the parks of the park that i saw were pretty nice. The boat ramps are very good and because there is only one park on the whole lake it limits the amout of pleasure boaters and other traffic making it a great place to fish.

Great place to kayak. Lots of fishing boats around too. Huge expanse of water, with inlets and coves to explore as you paddle. Small beach areas dot the edge. Only porta-potties available. Debit or credit card only for fee at the gate. $5 for a lovely 2 hour paddle. Well worth it

No fish from shore,2 days not a single bait on ANYTHING. Entrance fee is way to high if you dont have a boat. The entire park needs a revamp if charging so much. Main restrooms locked,at least there are porter pottys there, the road is more like offroad, garbage and steel bottle caps everywhere, the metal benches all rusted and nasty looking. They got a sand volleyball court, but is located under a tree?not sure how that works. Otherwise was a quiet weekend.

This is a nasty venue for the event my animal rescue organization just participated in. The event is called Strut Your Mutt and people walk their dogs, but the areas designated for such are either uneven asphalt with much gravel, stones and broken glass, or burr-infested fields. Shade is rare on any part of the property. The dreadful heat only exacerbated the situation, but I cant imagine that anyone would consider this place pleasant under any circumstances.
