This is an awesome little greenbelt. Its tucked between a couple of rows of homes but once youre about 100 yards in you pretty much forget that. There is a little pool at the end of the trail that appears to be spring fed and full most of the time. There are deer, bunnies, birds and some cool bugs as well. The trail is pretty easy to follow and some of the little offshoots go down to the creek. Most of the side trails that go North end up in peoples backyards, so probably skip those. All in all, this is a little piece of natures magic hidden amongst a bunch of houses.
If you enter from the North end, you can access the trail to Mayfield creek for some good photos. Trail does end if you try to access it all the way to the south entrance. You will have to climb a ton of fallen trees, rocks, and watch out for branches. Some photos of the path to Mayfield creek are included.
Other parts may be less hilly and have better infrastructure. This place is akin to the poor thought process the city implements in many areas and it shows here perfectly ️
Its beautiful but not as well maintained as other areas.
This is definitely not your normal park. Much closer to wandering through nature, but there are worn paths that make the exploring fun.
So pretty! Its an unpaved, rocky little trail though, so be prepared
The trail from the North entrance (Hyridge) is lovely, easy to follow, and leads right down to the creek bed. The trail from the South enterance (Steck) is much more challenging. Definitely coyotes out here too, so maybe dont bring small dogs at night.
Litter everywhere as you enter this park. Also, people in parked cars might be doing drugs and making out. Saw latex gloves, isopropyl alcohol, and syringes on the side of the road.
This seems like it would be a nice little trail, very close to my house and a nice short hike. Unfortunately it is dilapidated and the trail suddenly ended about 200 ft in ( I entered from Adirondack Trail). It looks like high water from the creek covered the trail with derbies but it appears to have been like this for some time. I might go back to explore a bit with the dog since it is so near to my house but It would only be good for wandering around and the trail ends so you are just wandering through the woods dodging low branches and brush.
The trail, if you can call it that, is poorly marked and heavily overgrown. Aside from the scenery, I dont recommend this park.
Good park for a short home hike. A bit hard to find the trailhead. No markings.
Took the kids there hoping for a trail that was stroller friendly. No path but plenty of trash.
My dog loved the rougher terrain and it was beautiful in the morning sunlight!
Incredibly beautiful hiking area full of places to explore
A nice wooded trail, great for a walk with the dog or family. Lots of deer, raccoons, coyotes and other wildlife.
Where the heck is the trail?!!?
