Most beautiful park in Austin located on banks of Colorado river. The location is so serene and has an separate camping location for RV & trailers. The park is pet-friendly and has space for entertaining the pets. Trash cans were kept at every corner of the park to dispose pet wastes.Park is also good for biking/walking and there are tables for dine-in area along with family.Kids shall definitely be enjoying this park and has wide playing area along the shores.Camping needs a permit beforehand but for a causal visit, you can take-in receipt at park entrance. Currently only credit cards are accepted and no cash are accepted.I have attached the park pics for reference. Have a happy and safe family time. #HappyVacation
This place was great! Plenty of shade and picnic tables. The water was nice and shallow out to the buoy lines, perfect for small kids. Bathrooms were conveniently close to the beach area and were clean. Online reservation system was easy to use; I am glad I knew about them in advance. Would be nice to have better signs indicating how to get to the water from the main road. Also, beware there are lots of burrs in the grass; wear water shoes or sandals. Overall still awesome though; we will definitely be back
Too many burs in the grass here. The best spots are in the RV park at the end, which are inaccessible to day visitors. A lot of water sports in front of this swimming spot, too much gasoline although the waves are cool I just feel like I’m surrounded by mowers and blowers inhaling gross air.
Feels a million miles away but right in the city limits! Mile of lake front, plenty of space to spread out and find your spot. Great hiking trail that is also dog & off leash friendly.
Beautiful view but it has a lot of fire ants and prickly weeds. My sons feet were covered with it. The picnic area has some shade. Ill go back but well be more careful before letting the run around bare feet.
Refreshing and serene: great space for a relaxing solo getaway or for a family fun-filled day. Get there early (8am) as it fills up quickly! I recommend bringing in water, food and a picnic mat or foldable chairs to sit. There are grills available for people to use (not right now due to covid19). The water is cooler than you expect and the sand is soft. Such a great place to come visit as you travel to ATX, or a recurring place for locals. There are bathrooms, and a sand volleyball court.
For me it was hard. Lose rocks, lots of rock ledges. 10 years ago I rode my dirt bike no problem. Now that Im older is a bit harder.
I love the affordable entry price and the water is always welcoming. I can always find a nice spot or table. They have trash cans by parking which I appreciate.
Great for family, very relax and the drive was awsome, love the hill country!
Nice place & its huge! It cost me $10 to enter, but it was worth it!
Nice Park. It looks like the same facilities from over 20 years. They need to upkeep certain areas. But it is in a great site.
Very nice and beautiful park. It does have a swimming area where boats are not allowed. However, when the boats pass by, it seemed that they were going to fast.
This park is great for boating camping barbecuing and just about anything outdoors. Right on the Colorado River aka lake Austin. One of my favorites.
Love the drive on the way there... Definitely a go to spot even if you have little ones... Get there early on the weekends to catch a shade tree or bring a canopy.
Very relaxing place, nice big park, recommend!Too many portable bathrooms everywhere though, tacky looking, degrading the scenery. I dont know why park creators do not consider that, I see this a lot. (& I would never step foot in one, dont even use them) A park is supposed to be scenic & pretty not look like a construction site...still a great park to visit. (Please do not use fire pits as trash cans, especially plastic waste, goes in a recycling bin, not a fire pit, thanks yall)
The park is pretty clean, which is kind of the only good thing I have to say about it. There are rules on people blasting music on their radios; completely unenforced. There are no wake buoys all through the river; COMPLETELY unenforced (to the point that kids were being pulled out of the water because the waves caused by the speed boats flying by could drown a child, and almost did multiple times). People were literally coming over to our table and grabbing our food?? and running off?? We had no idea who any of these people were but the only response we got from the security was we will look into it. Still made the best of it, the park has potential but it is a straight up free-for-all s***show.
Even with their reservation system, I felt like it was way too crowded. There was also a burn ban in effect but tons of people were grilling and smoking cigarettes. The place itself is nice and I grew up going here, but its not regulated enough in these times for me to feel great about taking my family.
Had an awesome time yet again. This is the second year I have come here. Restroom is well taken care of. Staff is amazing. Their small beach is perfect. They also have a boat ramp as well. Took my little one fishing on the bank..Only complaint is that other campers dont understand what quite hours are and boundaries at sites.
Its probably been 40 years since Ive been that through this beautiful city park. Still lovely still peaceful just a few changes like magnificent homes overlooking the lake LOL
Quite a long drive to get there but the park is very scenic with a nice beach-like area. Water was super cold but kiddo had a blast!
Very nice and beautiful park! It does have a swimming area where boats are not allowed, so it’s perfect for a calm sunny day
We stopped here to have a picnic and swim a bit. The water was quite cool and refreshing. The view was lovely. The road down to it was winding and fun.
Nice sandy beaches, ropes to keep the kiddies back in the water. Lots of shaded areas for our picnic lunch from #franklinsbbq. Gotta pay to get in tho! Also, the river/lake is very busy with boat traffic so the waves get choppy. Some beautiful houses across the river!
It woulda been really nice to get a warning about the ants infestation beforehand. We could only use 1 of our 2 nights camping because sleeping in a tent full of ants was just a nightmare.
Wonderful peaceful, Is pretty clean well kept up, There is small area with sand beach style perfect to sun tan
There room, tables are spaced out, plenty of room for some relaxing, cant really swim in this area, but if you have lils, theres beach in one area
Great local park. Always clean.
The water and swimming are great here. The only reason I didnt give it five stars is the horrendous reservation system. My wife and I made reservations and drove the 2 hours from San Antonio only to be turned away and told our reservations were wrong.
Man the plumber on this job, remodeling the restrooms, hes a good looking guy.Just saying.
Gorgeous park. Inexpensive fee. Plenty of space.
Grew up here, always a perfect day. Tent camping, RV camping, or day swimming is always great. Please pick up your trash, forget ALL glass at home, keep this park clean and beautiful. Be respectful, share, and have a safe time! Highly recommend Emma Long city park.
Very wavy, limited kid friendly places. Not the cleanest looking waters. Pictures will show the small spot that is kids friendly with sand while other shows water and where we were
I was sad to see so much trash. People abandoned tons of sand toys, socks, hats, shoes all over the park and beach area. We were handed a bag to put our trash in. It could be a really nice place if everyone would take care of it. We arrived at 1 pm, people were starting to clear out. Not crowded at all at 4 pm. This is during COVID, reservations are required. My kids had tons of fun playing in the sand, floating, and watching the boats go by. Very shallow.
The most greatest place to visit and chill out. The park is so beautiful. Camping is the best if you get there.
It is a beautiful and clean lake with a beach area for Children....We love it here....
I love this park! The water is amazing, the campsites are nice, however there are a lot of sugar ants. (Not a lot of fire ants)
Super cool spot! Cheap and open! Beautiful place. Highly recommend it!
What a treat! Weve been tring to find a mellow place with water and shade and here it is! Not too much of a drive from Austin, $5 per car and plenty of room to be socially distant! And on top of that the water is shallow and a great temperature. Theres also plenty of awesome shells for the kids to collect and add to their sand castles. Add tons of picknik tables and its the perfect spot to spend the day this summer. One thing I have to mention is that Google Maps did direct us to the wrong place at first, took a litte creative reasoning to find the Emma Long pin that was by the water. But we get there in the end.
Nice trail but please pick up after your dog
Great for swimming and BBQLimited fishing without a kayak or canoe.Grills on site and electricty :)
What I want to know how on do you get inside this park. We drove and drove and never saw and an entrance we had to turn back. Where exactly is the entrance?
Nice park with trails and access to the Colorado River.Waves from boats going at moderately fast speeds cause water to splash onto the shore and have eroded much if the shoreline. I hope the LCRA or a similar authority will take measures to prevent further damage to the waterway, for the benefit of the users of the river at the site and downstream.
Great place to spend an afternoon in the water and shade.
Love this place. Water great always a consistent flow. You can even see the bottom. The only thing is that there is a shortage of trees! So I suggest that you bring a awning for shade because come on people its Texas the sun is intense and we really should stay covered up :-) put your sunscreen on grab your awning dont forget the cooler yummy fruit beer if you drink it water if you dont. And go to Emma Long enjoy yourself its absolutely wonderful Grandma Texas likes it :-) just go
Great spot for a day by the lake. Water is cool and theres plenty of shade.
The bike trails are pristine. Awesome scenery. You can find some great views of the hills.
Technical trail. Really great.
The place to be in this Texas heat! Water is always cool, lots of shade and a sandy beach for the kiddos to play in!
It was great nice place to hangout with family and friends.
Lovely park with picnic tables & shallow waters for a cooling dip. Water is clean & there are areas marked for swimmers. Boats are often going up & down the lake but are well away from swimmers. Dog friendly. Be sure to arrive early on weekends if you want a spot by the waters edge.
Lots of room with a nice sandy swim area. Picnic tables in the shade of the trees. Changing rooms with showers, very clean
Love this place. So many great times and great memories
Beautiful place first time I love it
Nice park alot of shade to sit and relax cool pecan tree
A nice place to go enjoy your day.
Motocross trail can be fun mountain biking, but lots of ledges to negotiate. Can ride down to the lake after for a swim.
Very beautiful peaceful and fun. It has camp sites and fields to play soccer or volleyball.
It is a nice place to relax!Very clean, just loved it!
Great swimming spot but cold. Gem of a park. Loved it!
Pardon my French but the shaded water fronts are hecking nice
I love this place. Its the same untouched beauty I saw when I first visited 5 years ago. The amount of blissfully happy dogs is more than enough to make the hardest heart melt.
Love the fact that they have a place for many families to hang out and barbeque and swim. Had an awesome time with family n friends..
Love this location in the Austin area. It is very beautiful. Right next to the Colorado river where there are places to have a nice picnic or even places to camp during peak seasons. Very well kept and would definitely visit again for sure.
Turkey Creek Trail is awesome for creek stomping.
Beautiful and shady hike. A wonderful off leash trail with some lovely streams.
We were traveling from Maine to visit my family in Austin. We reserved a utility site on the river. The site was spacious and the river prettyThe bench seat on our table was missingThe bathroom was dirty and the showers open with no privacy. I rigged up a shower curtain with a beach towelThere is no place to wash dishes so you have to wash them at your siteMy complaint is about the lack of staff at this parkThere were homeless people staying under a tarp on a picnics table and a huge party given by people who didn’t tent a site, they drove into the park. There isn’t anyone at the entrance. They decided to set up next to our site. They played loud music and drank alcohol until nearly midnight. They came over to our site repeatedly, we almost called the police but they left about 11:50 leaving 5 huge bags of garbage behindI spoke to a man who worked at the park the following morning. He told me it happened all the time at this park. They obviously don’t care. We will never stay there again. It is not a safe place to camp with children and especially not in a tent
Great place for easy camping close to Austin downtown
Great place to swim and camp for the family.
Turkey Creek in Emma Long Park is a gorgeous place to hike or to take a leisurely walk. Like hiking in a fairy land. Three miles of trail that circles around, down inside a canyon, with multiple water crossings along the way. Be prepared to at least get your feet wet, especially when the water is high. Then up and back down from the top of the canyon to get back to the entrance. Leash Free.No wheels...no bikes, no motorcycles, no skateboards...thered be no way that they would make it through the terrain and all of the water crossings throughout. There are many other trails that go off from the main three mile trail.
Turkey Creek trail is the best place to hike with dogs off lease.
Emma Long City Park. So many good times and memories here. My mom used to love to sit out here and enjoy the heavenly breezes. Enjoying a day of swimming and relaxing with good friend Michael Griffin.Today is for you mom.
Hiking trail is alot of fun, wasnt any bass or catfish biting though
What a wonderful place!!! Relaxing and fun. Water very kid friendly.
Went during the week and it was very pleasant not crowded, and plenty of trees to sit under.
Weve loved coming to Emma Long park for over 15 years now. We used to go with our jetski and would enjoy propping it up along the sandy banks while we picnicked. It had been several years since we had been there and had never taken a boat there so we decided to give it a try. They have two small boat ramps that werent too crowded for us to launch easily. We anchored our boat offshore while we ate lunch and hung out with friends along the tree lined shores. The boat was rocking a lot from the huge boats that go by Lake Austin so we made it a short trip. I would say go there without a boat since its not really designed for that and enjoy time under the trees and enjoying the cool water to take a dip in.
Great place for cook outs with kids and dogs.
Love it just they took off basketball court, volleyball court
We have been coming here for years. Get there early to avoid crowds and enjoy the morning.
Went on a Friday during the Summer and it we had a wonderful time. We only went to the park section around the lake. There were lots of picnic tables available in shady spots. No picnic grills but we brought our own table top grill. The restrooms were better (cleaner) than I imagined. The shower area was pretty spacious too. The lake has a sandy beach like entrance. Its typical Austin lake water aa far as clarity, and the temperature was perfect for the hot day. Pretty spacious area and though there were lots of people at the park it seemed that there was no crowding of space except for the diving area. Entry fee was $10 per carload Fri-Sun, $5 the rest of the weekdays.
I think this is one of austins most beautiful parks i the water is always cold and fun to swim in .i use to camp here years ago its been a good while but cant wait till we do this year
Dirty! Trash in the water and the people were terrible. I will never go again.
Good to go at weekend,s. $10.00 per car.
Beautiful park! They definitely have plenty of hiking trails and lots of beautiful sights to see! Bring kids, dogs, a date, or just a friend and go explore a little! Go swim in the lake and wade out! Lots of parking and space to have a great time. Also can totally camp out at night if need be or you want to! Its definitely on my list of places to check out!
Very nice breeze. Was worried about there being too many people.
I havent been outto this park in about 20 years, I remembered it on the way home from Mansfield dam one day and went ahead and took a detour and went in there and I was pleasantly surprised that nothing is changed and its still a beautiful place to spend the day with your friends and family
Hiking in Emma park was awesome & the view from the Oasis restaurant was off the chain! Going back very soon!
Motorcycle trail is awesome for mountain biking!
Great place next to Colorado River. Theyve a small beach to get into water.
Great trails to relax and exercise.
Great trail for kids and dogs!
Been coming for 3 or 4 years already is a great place to spend a whole day specially if the weather is nice definitely you wont regret driving here if you are out of town
I loved it!! Get place to take your family
Beautiful little heaven by Lake Austin
Very pleasant place for family outings, picnics and camping.
Very nice park, great for family gatherings or just a quick couple get away,$10 fee to enter, restrooms with showers and open air changing rooms.Built in grills/BBQ pits, sand volleyball, closed in beach swim area with to lighted piers(no life guards). Lots of ski boats & jet skis going by,like every 5 minutes. Lots of large shade trees,RV camping at the very end of the park, tent camping also.Busy all summer long, get there before 10 am,nice long drive to the park.
Sandy beach, trails to explore, beautiful scenery.
