Been going here for almost two decades. Hands down one of Austins top comedy clubs if not the best! They have shows ranging from open mic to up and coming comics to well known legends. The food is also above average for a club like this so it makes for an all around great outing. Check out their site to see upcoming shows.
Had a great experience, love the atmosphere and drinks!
Great show at a great comedy club to visit while in Austin! Saw Mac Blake, and he has the crowd doubled over by the end. Cap City has a two-drink minimum, which is standard in most comedy clubs. It is best to purchase tickets in advance and have “reserved”. If you can get a high-top on either side, that’s an even better choice!
Great venue to see local and top rated talent performers. Friendly servicers. Easy parking.
Good sized venue. Funny performers. Very attentive service. The only negative is that the website says general admission, but they assign you seats and you may not be where you want to sit.
Had an alright time here. A few of the comedians were quite funny. My problem was with the club itself. First of all, they have a drink minimum even though you pay a ticket price and can order food. I did not want any alcohol so I had to buy bottled water. Its ridiculous. The worst part however is the seating. Its all cafeteria style. So youve either got the destroy your neck to look at the stage, or shuffle around with the people next to you to get your chair rotated enough to see the stage. I was just really physically uncomfortable the entire night. I did not eat, but I imagine if you did your neck would be on fire.
I love this place! Been going here with friends and family for many years. Even if its an off night, there is always one comedian that is good. Other times its someone I have never heard of and they are laugh out loud pee my pants hilarious! Cap City Comedy Club draws great talent.
Great place to go for a good and enjoyable evening. Well known comics come around quite often and the ticket prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere and setting is nice with a full staff for food and drinks. If there was anything to complain about it would be that the seats are too crunched up sometimes but its not a big deal and understandable.
Staff are great. Great comedians! Lovely atmosphere.
Great place and atmosphere. Definitely recommend the reserved seating - showed up 5 minutes before the show started and got to sit right in front. Food and drink pricing was on the higher side but reasonable considering thats how they make most of their money. Will go again when other comedians I like are coming.
First visit, a lot of fun with some really good comedians.Josh Allen was hilarious and even the opening comic was really good.Drinks werent great but the stage, atmosphere and quality of comedians means Ill be back.
Always a great time at Cap City! Quaint spot, good food, decent drink options plus full bar. Theres no bad seat here. Mind the 2 drink minimum per person, but its worth it.
Had always wanted to check this place out. As it happened, a friend won tickets at a church silent auction and invited me and Cyndi. We laughed so hard, our jaws ached! The drinks were actually pretty good. Did not eat anything. Our waiter was okay, but seemed bored and didn’t really check on us enough, it seemed. But, the entertainment was top-notched! As good as anything on Netflix or Comedy Central. We will definitely be back!
This place is always fun. I like the food and Ive always had good service. I like the sampler with fried pickles, mushroom caps and stuffed jalapenos but also fond of the burgers and quesadillas. The warm up comedians can be hit or miss but the headliners are always top notch. I appreciate the fact that this club does benefits supporting the community.
Intimate comedy club, friendly service, food and drinks not overpriced. Arrive early to get a table as we didnt and ended up in the middle of a table section towards the back and I had a difficult time seeing the act (Im short) over other peoples heads. Next time well pay for a reserved table in the upper section. Had a good time :)
We always have a good time here... I mean, its a comedy club. The servers are nice and I appreciate the no heckling policy.
Went to see the Sklar Brothers Nov 14th with someone who I thought was more than a friend. The club itself was nice and it was a fun show. A lot of great talent up on the stage. We both enjoyed the show. Id definitely recommend Cap City to anyone looking for a great night of comedy. Get tickets early for the reserved seating. Just beware this may not be the best venue for a date, unless you already established a relationship. My date was very reserved and focused on the show instead of both of us focused on each other. I tried to grab her attention but apparently it wasnt enough. I got put in the friend zone immediately after this venue. If she wanted more passion from me while at the show, she couldve gave me a hint. Ill remember next time to turn up the heat and provide more passion and intimacy on the next person I take here. :)
We went on sunday open Mic night and it was incredible! So funny! So many different personalities! And only 4$ door fee!! Whaaaat?!? Show was 2 hours. It was great!
Celebrated part of my bachelorette weekend by coming to a show. 30 minutes before the show started, we went into the restroom and cracked some laughs. Walked out to the manager questioning and interrogating us to see how much wed drank (assuming we were drunk) . Umm...its a comedy show. So.. if you might laugh at a comedy show, dont go here!
Seating is a little awkward and the special we got was a little weak. Valentines special said it came with dessert and it was three macrons. Felt a little cheated there. Had a good time anyway and they gave some tasty drinks.
Love it here! Great for any occasion (date night or girls night out) food is wonderful and staff is attentive.
Horrible experience for our first time there. They have an older man standing over tables like a High School cafeteria monitor. If you laugh too loud or talk to your group he rudely comes at you and tells you to be quiet. He did this to different people in our group of 20 multiple times and we werent being any louder than everyone around us. They treat you like youre a child having to be quiet at a school assembly, not like a patron who paid for a show and refreshments. At no time were we disturbing the show. Its odd to me that I would go to a comedy show and have to be silent?? Plus, youre feeding people alcoholic beverages! You have a two drink minimum... of course people are going to make noise. After the show I told the cafeteria monitor that he ruined the show and made our experience very unpleasant. He responded by chasing me as I was walking out the front door shouting to never come back again....
I would give no stars if that were an option. We drove from Houston and when we made it they said there was a minimum of two purchases per person in order to view the show on top of the cost of the tickets to get in. Which is understandable (I mean they have to keep the club running somehow) however the waiter/waitress is very adamant about following this rule and they hover around you until you are ready to make two purchases per person. This is my first time at a comedy club and I am very new to the whole scene. We came to see JP Sears and I whispered to my friend and they said that wasnt allowed. My friend had been informed of this but he forgot to tell me we couldnt speak. Due to this they asked us to leave. We drove quite a distance(Houston to Austin) and paid money to see JP Sears and were willing to abide by their rules once we had been informed of them. Other customers were laughing and talking but they told US we had to leave. In turn they called the cops and the cops understood where we were coming from. We were not arrested however the show was completely over by the time we were able to hash this out with the police. Two minutes into the act and we were asked to leave entirely. Incredible.
Ive visited for many shows through the years. I always have a great time. Great food, great drinks and fabulous Service.
I enjoy coming in for the open mic night on Sunday. Only $3. Sweet.
I dont typically like stand up comedy but they get funny comics and unique shows and I really love it! Theyre food and drinks are pretty tasty too.
Best comedy club in Austin. The only thing that would make it a 5 star is the seating.
We got here laughing after having a fun day and the manager RUDELY called us aside to ask us how drunk we were cause I guess he was gonna kick us out!! Literally made the whole night awkward.. felt like we couldnt LAUGH in a COMEDY show. We only stayed cause we had already purchased our tickets, we wont be back.
Seats were crowded and the girl behind us was complaining to us that she couldnt see and started arguing with my girlfriend. We had reserved seating, I could barely squeeze in my seat as is and Im not a big guy at all. Management didnt offer to relocate us so we left early, bummer! Pretty bad Valentines day experience. Lot of potential but they seemed more concerned about packing people in than providing a good experience.
Best comedy club in Austin. Dont forget you can get Bob & Dudleys Nachos as one of your 2 item minimum.
A bit old and guest are packed in tight on uncomfortable chairs. Comedy is great. Dont order the mixed drinks (very light) . Eat before you go there.
Funny and fun night out. plus tasty food and drinks at a good price.
Cool fun night. Some of the waitresses are can be pretty rude. .. but then I dont think I could do there job.
Fantastic little comedy club. The prices for food and drinks were extraordinarily reasonable.the venue is clean and easy-to-navigate. The service was spot-on as well.
Fun little club. We reserved seats and wound up front and center then came in a grew minutes into the set. Oops. Hahaha
Ive been here many times, and it has been a wonderful experience. The drink selection is great, the staff is fast and respectful. Last but not least, the local comedians are so funny! I have never been disappointed.
Good comedians from all over the united states. Drinks menu is sufficient. Table setup is long tables perpendicular to the stage. So everyone has a decent view.
Great service and great acts! The prices are very reasonable on top of all that.
Had the best New Years here. Hats off to Doug Benson and crew for such a funny show.
I went to a show here bc my friend had invited me since she scored some free tickets. It was a great show, but let me brag on their food which was surprisingly good. Its not 5-star restaurant quality or anything like that, but a pretty decent dive place to eat where you least expect it. I shared a sampler platter, wings, and some fish/chips with the table.Pro tip: usually for any shows attended here, the establishment does require a minimum purchase of 2 items and this can range anywhere from bottled water, cocktails or food.
The nachos with the chicken on point the egg rolls with the dipping sauce on point my boy Enzo he was the funniest out of all of them I recommend next time he be the headliner
Cap City Comedy as a VENUE is amazing. Lots of great local & big name talent. However, our server for the JP Sears show was clearly miserable. As in, she hated everything that night. I empathize having worked in dozens of bar/restaurant/service jobs. But, she almost seemed upset to see people laughing. We stopped ordering drinks just to avoid interacting with her.Parking is awful. Had to park at Hobby Lobby, run across a busy street, and through an unlit parking lot. GET THERE EARLY FOR DECENT PARKING!
Great location to go for comedy, it is a little tight as far as room space but it is manageable and you will enjoy yourself.
Wings and fries are awesome. Parking is always a challenge if you not there early.
Great comedy club. The main comediat was Chad Daniels and he was awesome. Also the other comedians were all good. Food and drinks were good and the service was great.
Definitely worth your money, and as an added bonus fill out a short survey with your actual date of birth and you will receive 4 to 8 free tickes to any show around your birthday. Laughter warms the heart, also possibly make you urinate from laughing so hard. Great place to unwind. Awsome set line up of comedians.
You are in Austin but have access to the same acts gracing LA, New York and other world class venues. Cap City is under rated and really under billed. This is street level stand up in the purest form. One time an act set and painted a work of art as he amazed, entertained and humored the barely appreciating crowd. Everyone laughed. Our bellies hurt until the very end when the final joke hit home and we all realized we were merely animals on display. Jailed in confines of polite society and gaurded by aspirations of our inadequacy. The last stroke revealed a chimpanzee brooding. Intelligent enough only to comprehend the futility of this comprehension and to appreciate the sad irony of knowing it.After hours of laughing we all left wiser. And somewhat suicidal.Id recommend to my friends.
I really enjoyed my night here! Great laughs!
Odd place at first but they bring in some big name acts, arent obnoxious and the food is excellent!
Great small venue!! Watched alot of different acts for 20 years now. Awesome place and great service.
Love this place, we try to go as often as possible. Every time weve gone weve enjoyed ourselves. So happy to have a comedy club in town.
Be sure to see the Punch comedy show. The best thing to do in Austin on a Tuesday night!
2 drink minimum go here almost every other friday also they give you free tickets when you sign ther comment card
Cap City Comedy is ALWAYS awesome!! The staff and managers (Chandy, Jon and Samantha) truly care about the club, the patrons and the comics. You WILL have a wonderful time!
I had a great time. The wait staff is friendly and the comedians were great. My only complaint would be that I dont think there should be a 2 drink minimum after paying for reserved seating. I didnt want to drink or eat anything as we had just gone to dinner and had drinks at the restaurant. I mean you pay online for tickets, pay an extra fee for getting the tickets, then you have to pay again once your there because there is a 2 drink minimum.
From a performers point of view, its one of THE BEST stages in the U.S. to perform on. Definitely THE BEST stage in Texas that Ive performed upon. The staff is always respectful and attentive when I performed there from 1987-2009. Hope they are still doing well, they deserve it!
I LOVE Cap City!!!!! They get great comics and make it affordable for the fans! These are the real deal comedians who are worth a heck of a lot more to see....but Cap City brings them to us so that we can enjoy it and not kill our budget. Nice staff, great seating, excellent food. Im sad that I moved out of state....Ill really miss Cap City
Very nice cozy environment, staff is great acts were good!!
Pretty good venue. They do require a 2 item per person minimum while watching comedy. The virgin Pina colada is the best Ive ever had!!!The staff is great, laughs at the comedy as well, and you can hear one guy who has a unique and loud laufh, and it gets the crowd laughing even more! Its great!
Punch is always a great time. Good venue for comedy and podcast recordings.
The headliner was great! Saw Preacher Lawson but the two covers werent the best at all. Aside from this, parking in this strip was terrible, the club on the inside was pretty small, and I honestly wasnt a fan of the two item minimum they have. I was only interested in one drink but had to order something else. Not to mention a 20% gratuity was already added in.The staff seemed pretty friendly though. Even though I rated it 3 stars, I would still visit again because the headliner was worth it and the tickets were reasonable.
Pricey but our comedian was worth it . We had a great time. Small acts were too much at times but we enjoy good humor and the main comedian was a true comedy act.
Good place, overpriced drinks. Great comedy strip club drink prices....
Had a great experience at this comedy club. Comedians were very good and I will be back.
Really good experience, always wanted to go CC, definitely adult entertainment!
What fun we had. The Texas double Burger was really good. And all three comics were hilarious!
Great place to go and hangout. Great national touring comics. Food is decent and drink prices are fair and the pours are good. Wait service is a little slow, but everyone walks in at once so it is understandable.
Had a great time. Kris H was absolutely wonderful. Attentive, quick, and very accommodating. Will definitely be back.
I had a great time! The entertainment was hilarious and the service was equally awesome!
The new stage is great. Service was great also. Always great talent rolling through as well.
Great times here definitely a great friday or saturday night out!
Ive been here four times or so, and every show has been fantastic. Great collage of performers that have been through Cap City over the years, and its an impressive collection! Their ticket packages are great as well for date nights. We have a corporate night every year there too and it always goes over well.
Whats there to say. Cap City is a clean establishment. Drinks are decently priced and service was quick to fill your orders. This is always a great pla e to go when good talent is in town.
I love this place every time I go. There isnt really a bad seat in the house and its really easy to get a private reserved table if you want it. The have a menu and table service for food and drinks. Prices are not bad all the way around (entrance, food, drinks) and the entertainment is always good. I would definitely recommend this place for a good time. If youre in a date, get there early and enjoy the bar and waiting area that is full of private table to sit and talk while having drinks and waiting for your showtime.
Tends to book solid acts. Especially for Punch. Thats whats driving my 5 stars. Pretty standard comedy club service and such. Food is priced more or less as expected, standard short order stuff with good sized portions. Cocktails are a bit better than they need to be and never watered down. Beer and wine is selectuon is pretty basic, but theres a surprising array of liquor choices if you ask.
Do you like to laugh? Do you want to have fun? This is the place. Every time I come I have a good time. The comedians are always funny, or the host is really good about getting the crowd into the mood. The service has always been good even with the large groups. Food that Ive had has been on... But the shows are Kate so Im not there for dinner. Just drink and snacks. Its a good way to hang with friends or for a date night.
Prompt service without a bad seat in the house. Cant complain about my drink either. Perfect. Brooks Wheelan was hilarious btw.
Liked the show and proposed myself to go again.
The comedian and line up were hilarious! If we are rating the venue and all their services, the food is not good at all and their drinks even worse. Chris our waiter was very attentive and responsive.
Great bar service! Delicious drinks I always have a good time here. How could you not its comedy!!
RACHEL FEINSTEIN WAS AMAZING!!GREAT VENUE!
Great place, nice staff. Good food and drinks.
Always a fun experience. Service is always wonderful and quick. The acts before the main event are usually pretty good.
The best venue in Austin to see comedy. They have had almost everyone perform on thier stage.
