This is a traditional Roman Catholic Church and the historic Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Anchorage. Serves the downtown area, but many parishioners from all around Anchorage, especially long time residents, attend services here because of its traditions. The parish is served by the order of Dominicans, both priests and nuns. Many who work downtown by attend daily, noon Mass. St Pauls Corner bookstore is an arm of this parish. It is a delightful store with many lovely sacramentals, books, and DVDs.
The nicest and most welcoming people! Both Sundays I attended, the homilies were remarkable. This church does liturgy very well!
Tonights Mass was very good. The volume could be louder. We had a problem understanding the Gospel.Thank you,Brian Feeney
Reverent and inspiring rosary followed by mass weekdays (rosary @11:40am, mass @12:10pm). In the heart of downtown Anchorage. What a beautiful way to thank God for all His blessings.
Established Cathedral with much history, a true Anchorage landmark. Welcoming atmosphere, with flexible Mass times. Beautiful design, with equally so recently installed stained glass windows. Only critique would be for the sermons to be more natural, and not read (recited). Super staff of volunteers, however- who do wonderful work on so many much needed levels.
Its a beautiful church and the young paster is great. The people in the parish however I find standoffish and cold.I have been to several different masses on different days and different times. Even though it is located closer to my home in govt hill, I will continue to go to St. Benedicts in South Anchorage, where the people make us feel welcome and more like family.
Nice looking church and the priests are responsive.
Wonderful small parish in downtown area offers many mass times.
Wonderful old church, improving grounds around. Only slight problem is parking.
Excellent church, I felt very welcomed on my first day, and even though they werent doing Confessions before Sunday Mass, they asked the father so that I could get confessed. The mass in Spanish was awesome, I will definitely be coming here every Sunday
Multi times mass daily, confessions at 1130 m-f, wonderful priests
Welcoming community of believers. The Word of God is spoken and Jesus and the Blessed Mother are glorified! God bless you all.
The mass is solemn. The sermon gave by the priest is very inspiring and theres audience interaction.
There are convient mass times, daily confession, and weekly adoration.
Friendly and open to visitors, great place for a short mass
A nice sanctuary downtown
Came to 9 am mass which was posted on website and on phone answering messages. Only to stand there and no mass after all. Guess this wasnt worth updating for out of state visitors. Sad!
God was in and happy to see us
Great environment for NA meetings
Beautiful vigil of the Assumption
Homey place to worship
