I have been drawing fresh water from this creek for over 30 years. The area around the parking lot is getting trashed because neither State Parks not the visitors understand how to maintain trails.Specifically, there needs to be education and community involvement in order to keep the trails maintained and prevent unnecessary devastation to the vegetation.
This place is absolutely incredible. Ive been here in the summer, fall, and winter and it is so spectacular to see no matter what time of year. I have yet to have a picnic here but thats pretty high on the list once spring rolls around. I would definitely recommend this place as a sight seeing stop for anyone visiting Anchorage...
Fee to park, but great views and trail. Has a restroom.
There are a lot of great little spots to explore around here. Also good hiking trails to and from here. The downside is there is quite a bit of trash around the trails and parking lots.
Awesome!! Beautiful views. Available bathrooms and clean parking lots
Beautiful park just off the highway with nice maintained trails, parking, and spectacular views. Saw a few mountain goats during our visit!
MC Hough is a great get-away from Anchorage- beautiful and wild. I often brought my son Aidan here when he was little. It was our favorite place to go nearest the City. However, over the years from so much use and abuse, there has been a lot of damage to the trees and other vegetation.Compaction as State Parks calls it, from so many happy feet visiting virtual wilderness, compacts the soil around the roots of trees which exposes their roots. Then the trees die and blow over in the wind. Then more trees are exposed and blow down. This is a cascading effect. Then forest fires rage through as natures way of clearing the debris and restoring the forest.Mc Hough Creek is A GREAT place to begin UNPRECEDENTED collaboration between Alaska State Parks, Chugach National Forest and those who know and love Mc Hough Creek and Forest. This collaboration is a way for people and government to work together for virtual benefit.Otherwise, Mc Hough Creek may continue to become more and more degraded.
Nice place to take a break from the highway.
Very clean and well kept with beautiful mountain views all around.
Pretty cool little park...bathrooms need serious attention.
Q: Why did the Mushroom get invited to all the parties?A: because hes a Fungi
Great park! Only issue is that it is not maintained nearly as well as it use to
Its a high altitude place to take a view of mountains and river, roads. Sunset can be watch from here and its phenomenal. This place has picnic area and has high and long walk multiple trails such as 3 to 5 miles. If you just want to have glance of scenic view, go left from below parking area. If you want to go for long trail, either to upper parking are or walk right from lower parking area. Even lower and upper parking does not much difference.
Great place to show off alaska to out of state visitors. Love the bear aware signage (also in other parks but this one is easier to walk. Up to from the parking. Great views of the arm
Absolutely beautiful hike, went on it with my two younger brothers and my mother and everyone enjoyed the hike very much. While we were hiking we saw a mama black bear with two Cubs off in the woods, was very cool to see and both of my brothers were thoroughly intrigued by the bears.Saw some fish in the creek on the boardwalk that had adf&g tracker tags on them, so that was awesome to see. Would definately go back there and hike with my family and friends again.
Nice stop for a hike and for the kids to check out the waterfall and pond
Love hiking ther. But last year ran into a black bear with my family. Good thing I had my dog to warn me.
Beautiful view. Watch your step while on the ledge.
Lovely and very peaceful.
Great place to for a short walk or a picnic. Plenty of parking and nice tables. Lots of informative signage explaining the rocks, wind patterns, flora & fauna. The waterfall is icing on the cake.
What a gem & right off the main drag to Seward from Anchorage. We hiked to the look out, just a simple walk really, and took some pics. But on our way back to Anchorage, we saw the largest moose ever! It was in a small grassy field, between the McHugh Creek Day Use & the shore bird breeding area. I love Alaska!!
Right along Hwy 1 just south of Anchorage. Stop by for a quick hike, to see a waterfall or just to take pictures of the mountains and sea. Costs $5 to park for the day. There are pit toilets, picnic tables, and hiking trails. Stop by and enjoy the day.
Beautiful scenic area! Great place for a picnic, hike or camping. One just needs to be prepared for any bear encounters!
My son and I had an absolute blast here, climbing over all the rocks we could find and taking every trail forwards and back. The only problem we had was getting to Boy Scout Rock, the trail was a bit overgrown with something prickly and we were not kitted out for trailblazing. We made lots of great memories here, well worth the 5$ parking fee if you like to climb and are willing to go off the beaten path.
Awesome beautiful trails that have a great view / the inlet
Good hiking trails around this area..some trails are accessible to most anyone..and the views are always awesome
Very good start of several trail heads.
Always fun to see ocean
Great trails and incredible inlet views! Easy access to Anchorage.
Beautiful, easy hike with stunning waterfall.
Whales were at beluga point, it was beautiful
Great trails with amazing scenery.
My first hike and in really warm weather (75). The views were great and by the time I finished my 4 1/2 mile hike (my first of the season) all kinds of people arrived to enjoy the afternoon.
This is a trail system and day parking lot with picnic tables, stunning views...and beautiful trails with cute bridges crossing the creek. That more is the falls by the highway.. and so much more to see as you hike the trails
Beautiful
Amazing views, clean bathrooms, and wonderful hikes!
Hot, windy, and buggy... The creek is nice and cold - bring towels, snacks, and lots of water! All the wildfire smoke complicated things, and the main trail gets steep at points... Its all uphill for 4.2 miles... Beautiful scenery though...
Nice little park with multiple trails of varying lengths. Good way to spend an afternoon near Anchorage.
Beautiful wildlife preservation. Was an amazing walking experience for my family and I.
Went through this on the way to Alyeska. very scenic and peaceful place. Words do no justice, just go and see it for yourself.
Scenic with awesome trails, I definitely recommend you pull aside and hike these trails!
Great views and a nice sheltered micro climate. Host Louise is a friendly and helpful.
Great scenery. Easy to get to just off Seward Hwy. Can see Cook Inlet from a few places.
Great views, great trail, great place to just get away for awhile!
Some easy rock climbing in the area, with good parking. Don’t get locked in after hours!
Perfect day trip from Anchorage. The grills and water is free the parking is not.
Good place to barbecue or hike. Beautiful views of the inlet and mountains!
Great views
Perfect short hikes.
Nice little surprise right off the road. Easy to get to with great view
Great place for a day hike. There are lots of scenic over looks by the parking lots, and longer trails to hike. They have grills in the parking lots on the second level for picnics. The cost per day is $5 and there is no overnight parking. They close the gate at nine in the summer and leave it closed in the winter I believe.
Great trails and awsome streams. Must see....
Beautiful hike, with an awesome view
Nice place to park to just look around also leads to many hiking trails
Never been to the top of the hike but Ive been on the trails and in the parking area below. Its all well maintained. It is a very scenic area with a gorgeous view of the Inlet.
Great hiking spot. Awesome views
Great place for rock climbing with a view of the inlet and Turnagain Arm.
Watch out for the cow parsnips bushes everywhere but the trail itself is beautiful. A little hard on the knees but its worth the hike for the views.
Beautiful scenic
Was very pretty with the ice on the creek. Took a walk up the hill to the bridge, kinda dangerous in with the ice. In summer hope to hike higher.
A little peace of heaven.
Lovely Prince William Sound Scenery! Beautiful to Hike towards the mountains. Be aware in bear territory. Great low key picnic area also!
Nice park took my daughter her first time c to Alaska
Grate place for a quick stop out of town

This is a beautiful spot although busy most times. Thick with bears so need a gun but the hike is so pretty and well worth it
Had fun hiking the rocks there.
