If you are new to skiing or snowboarding, or have kids wanting to learn, Hilltop ski area is the best place to go. The terrain is manageable by beginners and fun for others in the intermediate level. Staff are amazing and very willing to help.

This is a smaller ski hill, one 3-person lift. Several runs all on same side of the hill. Well-groomed. Perfect for beginners, kids, or those who like easy runs. Staff were friendly and helpful. Some food sold inside, some seating, but was typically full anytime we went in. The lines were long, but staff were doing their best.

Amazing City Views from the top of Hilltop Ski Area! There is a wide trail to the top, once you get there, watch the planes fly over Cook Inlet, view the fall colors and Sleeping Lady ( Mt. Susitna). We saw a big bull moose two days ago. On Tuesdays and Thursdays in the evening you can watch the ski jumpers fly through the air ever so gracefully.Hilltop ski area is a excellent place to explore by foot, by bike or by skis in the winter months.

Cool place for cross country ski and mountain ski. There are a lot of hills for cross country ski and you can achieve the fast speed - I had been speed about 37 km per hour. It is my record! The next step should be test the mountain ski or snowboard.

Not terrible for a basic ski area. Runs are fun but short. Ticket prices could be better. For being a small place they are doing good. And its nice to be so close to town.

Great family ski hill! Went earlier in the season and not all runs were open, but the runs that were open were well maintained. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is the rental process. It’s awful. My niece and nephew waited almost 2 hours for rentals. Growing up skiing, I know there are much faster ways this can be done. My advice for people renting would be to get there early before they open. My advice for the rental counter would be to get some more help and make the process more streamline... boots, skis, poles, and leave.

This place is groups to teach kids to learn how to ski there are a few runs that are very easy there are a few steep hills supposed to help the kids learn steep stuff but honestly most of this is just Rolling hills the chairlift takes longer than the run those to go down by about triple or quadruple the time so I would suggest not just going straight down there are some wooded trails to explore you can go all the way from one side to the other if you really want to just really the type of places just to explore and have some fun bring your family bring the kids very safe the ski patrol there is always on top of things they have a café and you can order food it’s not expensive at all it’s a great deal they have classes to teach you how to ski in Dorst no word from children all the way up to adults they also have a special summer camps that me and my family love to partake in we like to put our daughter in The freestyle camp and she loves it. I remember as a kid I learned how to ski here and I am very happy that this place is still around so that I can teach my daughter how to ski now that she is 10 years old we are expecting one more child we cannot wait to bring the next child to hilltop to teach them to ski to, it is definitely a tradition of ours and hilltop definitely will always have a place in our family

Im at the upper end of the beginner spectrum for context. Clean and well lit runs, grooming is well done, helpful staff, decent prices. I went on a weeknight and shared slopes with some Special Olympians and a bunch of kids who ski better than I.

Staff was pretty friendly and helpful to make sure your equipment was on correctly. Great place to bring family! You’ll have the time and space to make memories, teach your kids to ski or just learn yourself!

Classic Hilltop. Never changes. I visited over the 2018 holidays, my first time here since the 90s. Not much is different. Anyways, enough reminiscing.Hilltop is a nice little ski area, great for beginners like my kids, and those of us who havent skied in 20 years. There are some fair drops, some wide open spaces, and some quick forest paths to make each run interesting. On the downside, it really is a fairly small area, especially on skis, plus the lift always takes too long. A good day at Hilltop is 20% of your time actually skiing.Something for the managers at Hilltop: encourage your people to be friendly (seriously a problem this year). Also, see what you can do about making the lift/rental/return process more seamless, it was very confusing).Overall, my family had a great time and I would say that its definitely worth the time and money.

Always fun! Great for new skiers, has a great day lodge with food! You can rent all that you need here minus gloves, socks, goggles, and masks, which are available for purchase in the day lodge. Helpful staff and great ski and snowboard instructors! I remember getting lessons and loving it! They also adjust your board or skiis to your boots at the rental shop! The only reason I deducted 2 stairs is the outdated and dangerous chairlift. There is no bracket that prevents you from falling out. With young children you will need to hold them in the chair. Otherwise is a good spot for beginners as the chairlift is short, and very close for those in Anchorage.

A must for any visitor! Sled down a mountain at least one time in your life! Its wonderful, exhillerating and scary too! My brother and I went down and I was in front, we veered away from the cliff to end up in trees. The smacking of the trees on my head knocked me out cold, so my brother had to sled down, tell Dad to get a rescue sled for me, up the mountain again and found me mumbling about loosing a glove with drool on my lips. Pretty. At least we made it, I dont think there is perminant head trauma ;-)

Low price, limited terrain, close to town so easy to get a quick day in. Lift is plenty fast, so you can get a bunch of runs on a half day. Awesome to teach someone to ski/snowboard at or just get back into it when the season starts. And the cross country trails are rad too.

From the moment I walked into the building, the employees looked my friends and I up and down, judging our outfits (they were lululemon leggings which yes ill admit are higher amount but they are very popular here). They started by saying things about how annoying it was that we didnt bring our parents because we werent aware we need a waiver signed because at alyeska we didnt need to. They then started to make remarks about one of the girls looking 12 for no reason when she in fact is 17 years old, 5ft 9 and is often mistaken for a 20 year old and began to make fun of our school when we didnt even say our school. She assumed what school and when we nicely replied yes she began to attack us for it. Mind you, we didnt even say anything mean to them, we were being completely nice and civil to them. When we went to get a refund the lady at the register was very kind and gave us a refund, but when they heard and saw us getting our refunds they began to talk behind us more and say we shouldnt get refunds. Im incredibly sorry if we some how managed to offend the workers by doing literally nothing but existing and Id like to thank the few kind workers because they stopped me from calling there manager out to the front. Im aware that we sound like stuck up sensitive kids but their attitude was incredibly unprofessional and rude in a place that we were hoping to have some fun on our break. I will most likely never return here but if I do, im returning in full Gucci and all of our fathers. Theres no reason for them to attack us and they shouldnt have talked behind our backs.
