Such a tiny, hidden gem! Ok, compared with Chicagos Field Institute or NYs or DCs museums of natural history, its zero stars. But for a tiny facility that is free and perhaps convenient during a visit to WS, its delightful! Staff is on hand to answer questions and everyone was genuinely nice and concerned that my questions were answered. At one point, spouse and I were pondering a fine point of one of the exhibits. When we turned to the nearby receptionist (a student) to ask, hed already started researching the question online! The exhibits change periodically and the only real cohesiveness is anthropology in general, but introductory panels provide an excellent overview of the many sub-specialties within the field. Clear efforts have been made to make the visit interactive, including an Escape Room option in the Africa room. Throughout, displays are nicely done with up to date and attractive signage and cases. There is clearly much love, great thought, and keen intelligence that goes into the exhibits and making this mini museum worth the hour itll take you to enjoy it.
We had to go here for a field trip in my summer camp. The stuff there is very interesting, and the scavenger hunt we did was fun. The problem was, the last time I went here, they had spicy chocolate. PUT THE SPICY CHOCOLATE BACK ON THE TABLE PLEASE
With ever changing displays, you get a chance to learn about people and cultures across the world and through time. There are events for all ages, from activities for children to talks by archeologists and researchers. I love that my family and I learn something new with each visit.
Its a small museum, but very well curated and organized. We have been there a few times and always thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits.
Andrew the anthropologist was extremely engaging and knowledgeable
I always learn something new each time I go to the MOA. They renovated their permanent displays in 2018, and the place looks great. WFU could have better signage on Wake Forest Road, however--the MOA is not easy to find.
Interesting and aesthetically displayed artifacts. Special exhibitions from time to time.
Only slightly educational, and holds very basic information on The Day of the Dead, Evolution, Religion ( Judism, Christianity, and 2 others) and a few ancient cizilations (Chinese, Mayan, and Egyptian). Its ok to visit, although not extremely fun.
Great educational experience. Friendly staff. Located on a beautiful college campus.
Now we can see the Japanese traditional dolls for the childrens day!
Great place to learn, and they have a free escape room.
Great presentation! Tasty snacks at the event.
Interesting and informative place to visit.
Had a blast with their escape room
A hidden gem in Winston Salem.
