All the museums are closed right now even though google maps says they are open. But it is still a nice experience to walk the streets and see the old buildings even though you can’t go into any. I was amazed at how well preserved all these old places are. I really enjoyed walking around here
It reminds me of a much smaller Williamsburg, with restored buildings and costumed people explaining exhibits. We did not buy the ticket to see all of the exhibits. The doctors house was open and had great exhibits. The woman in the apothecary shop was very entertaining. The bakery and a few other shops were open without a ticket.
Travel back in time to the 1700s in Old Salem, a Moravian marketplace and village. Most of the shops have living history interpretors who are dressed the part and tell you about their tools and trade, such as the gunsmith, joiner, baker and tavern owner. The buildings and grounds are incredibly well preserved and restored. We spent most of the day there and didnt see everything. One tip to the visitor is that not all of the shops and tavern are open during the week. Another thing to note is that the sidewalks are brick and are sometimes very uneven, watch your step.
Beautiful and like stepping back in time. 5 stars!
Awesome place with lots of cool shops, great place to visit!
We visited in the off season and most shops were closed. But, we must return again sometime soon.
Quite interesting. lived the costumes.
Very well maintained historic town. Nice historic buildings, shops, gardens and restaurant.
I have Moravian roots and this place is a wonderful reminder of what was and what is still great about the USA.
A great stop for out of towners and you should definitely check out cobblestone market on Saturdays
Such a cool place!
Great to walk or bike through
