Nice and quiet, very few people. The trail marking is confusing. AllTrails only lists trails SA and C combined. The park marks trails with numbers, but does not have a trail map. The botanical garden is a little spot with some native plants and some hydrangea bushes..

Went hiking here. Arrived early. Hikeed multi use trails and one of the longer bike trails. Bike trail was best part. Moderate hike in total canopy. Hike opposite way of bike traffic so you can see and get out of their way as they come towards you. Nice playground for kids. Seems like a great place to mountain bike. Definitely going back

I always have a great time when I come to this location. They have challenging obstacles that are appropriate for people of different physical capabilities. Instructors are knowledgeable and ensure the safety of all participants . GoApe is doing everything to enforce appropriate COVID-19 transmission precautions which is crucial. Would definitely recommend.

I enjoyed my visit but the trails here need some upkeep, they should make it easier to define the walking/riding path from the woods. My friend (a former boycott) and I lost track of our trail at one point and had to head back to the main road.

Nature trails and a botanical garden makes this a pleasant place to walk or bike. As it is out-of-doors, it is a relatively safer place to visit in the pandemic.

My son loves this place! He is 4 and had a blast on the starter courses even if he was initially a little nervous. The obstacles on the starter course are somewhat varied and fun and the zip line is a good way to end it.Overall I would highly recommend it and would recommend the season pass as well. Great place to spend a day on a weekend.Word of warning that you need to book in advance and spots can fill up fast!

Its a quaint, quiet multipurpose area in the middle of the forest. The museum has a room to rent out for events or meetings, the Hot Water reconstructed buildings and the cemetery are a great way for people to connect to the past, and there is GoApe. The Botanical Garden is small, but a good visual break from the forest scenery.

Great trails, playground, garden, and historical sites. Be sure to pick up a free map by the cemetery or Free Black Settlement parking lot. Heres a quick summary of the 5 mountain bike trails from a beginners perspective:A - lots of ups and downs with occasional long climbs. Bridges are cool, and theres a long and fast downhill around mile 3.5 that you can skip to by taking multiuse trail 1 to its end. The whole 4.5 miles is fairly strenuous with a lot of roots.B - kind-of an extension to A that adds about a mile to As length in the middle. Twisty and hilly.C - probably the easiest trail (besides the bunny trail) since its the flattest and well-worn by riders. Also probably the most popular because of the 25 or so technical features. All features have bypasses, so if youre new to MTB, be sure to check out a feature before going for it as many are very difficult.D - probably the most difficult/strenuous trail since its the longest and has a lot of steep, tight switchbacks. Looked to be the least ridden and had sections of deep pine needles Not particularly enjoyable when I rode it, but there are some beautiful pine areas and vistas overlooking the swamp. There are 2 connector trails on the map, but I couldnt find then when I rode it. You can do a shorter loop instrad of the full 5 miles by cutting across at the second bridge, cutting the length in half. Watch out on that bridge, though, as theres a drop at the end.E - windy, hilly, and rooty. Trails D and E line up beginning to end and can be done together as an 8 mile loop.

Freedom Park not only has great mountain bike trails, but a botanical garden and the Go Ape zipline course. Call ahead if it has recently rained to ensure trails are open to bikes. For bikers who are just learning, try the bunny trail or C trail (this is also where all the crazy jumps are too but you can ride around them). Very nice park; wish it was closer to me.

I come here just for the botanical gardens. I havent walked the trails, yet. I did see one trail was paved and could be used with a wheelchair. Nice visitor center with historical info, water fountain, restrooms, picnic tables, and bike washing station. Just so you know ahead of time, the historical cemetery is a space and not marked by tombstones or labels like a historical graveyard. The botanical gardens are a peaceful space with plenty of paths, seating, and shade. Its well kept and labeled and worth the visit.
